Played H.C. this morning(7⁄26) with my wife and another couple and experienced the worst customer service in the DMV. First off, the marshall, David, told our group to speed up on the first hole even though there was no one waiting on the tee box behind us and 2 of the 4 of us were on the green in regulation. Secondly, he didn’t say anything to the foursome in front of us even though every single one of the them hit a provisional off the first tee. Immediately after the first hole the marshall decides to make sure we know when to let people play through(still no one behind us). Throughout the round we waited on the tee box numerous times for the group in front of us. Never once were they told to speed up. On the ninth hole, the other guy in my group and myself had driven near the green and couldn’t hit our second shots because the group in front of us was still on the green. My wife didn’t hit a great shot so she decided to hit another one while we were waiting. The marshall became very rude and told us to hurry up again even though the group in front of us was still on the green preventing us from playing our second shot anyway. Both of the females in my group were so upset with the marshal’s attitude that they decided not to finish the hole. I decided to let the manager on duty know what happened just so he was aware. The sign in the shop stated that the manager on duty was Tammy Craig, but apparently she was not at the facility, according to the gentleman running the desk when we asked to speak to her. The gentleman at the front desk never told us his name. He informed us that the marshall, David, was new. The manager became combative and tried to lecture my wife and I on the rules of golf. He then later on stated that he had worked there five years and had never had a complaint like this – despite the fact that he had just told us the marshall was new. After I pointed out that the ladies were both beginners – hence my wife wanting to take a second shot while we were waiting – he informed us that was what coaches were for and you did not use a public course to learn how to play. I find this beyond ridiculous that at a $ 12 public course beginners are discouraged from playing. To make a long story short we were the only group on the entire course that had females and were told numerous times to speed up(even though we finished our round only 3 minutes slower than their recommended pace of play). Overall, I have never experienced such poor customer service or blatant sexism on a golf course in my entire life.

This a great course, fun to play, has a driving range. The issue is the lack of customer service. They are consistently rude each time we play here. The price is not bad and I’m sure it’s nice for those living in Maryland but the rudeness of the staff is what makes this course sub par. They serve food and drinks, nice perk. Also, if you are a lady and need to use the restroom past 7… Good luck.

I’ve been playing H.C. on a regular for a couple of years now and I think it’s a great 9 hole course. But get this. on Wednesday’s and Sundays 9 holes $ 10 with cart $ 15⁄18 holes $ 15 + $ 10 with a cart. Come onnnn! Get’s really crowded on Sundays with these rates so expect slow play. Staff is nice. Course is challenging for a hacker like me but I’m starting to break 90 and getting better. 3 par three’s no par 5’s. Easy walking course though holes 5 to 6 can be hilly and wear you out on a humid day. my favorite thing though is they have cold water on every third hole. When it’s hot like it is now you pray for that water!

Don’t mistake my 3-stars as a bad review. But this is a public course. Some people wear jeans here. But, for a guy still learning the game, this is the perfect course. It’s 9 holes. The staff is friendly but they can have their moments. I guess that’s fine because you have to have some order. The grounds are kept well enough. and the prices are great. $ 15 bucks weekdays for 9 holes $ 17 on the weekends.
