Prices compared to other restaurants in the area were great! Shrimp poboys were $ 9.95 and tasted fresh. The atmosphere was casual and seemed like local hangout more for the older crowd. The man behind the bar was nice to put on The Bachelor finale on the tv for us since it wasn’t too busy. Great service and great food.

We vacation in Ft. Walton Beach every year and we have made High Tide a tradition. You cant get better oysters. I grew up on the coast been from New Orleans to Florida all my life. This place has old time southern gulf coast charm. Had a shrimp po’ boy, half dozen raw, coleslaw, it was great. Cold beer, friendly service. We will continue to go back.

I have dined here a couple of times in the past few years. I had the blackened mahi last night which was very good. Don’t purchase the house garden salad. Pretty blah with little plastic containers of blue cheese dressing that was pretty blah. Service was great. Hush puppies good. They did give a good sized portion of fish.

In my experience High Tide is the best place for raw oysters in Fort Walton Beach. Their steamed oysters topped with melted cheese and chopped onion are also delicious. At lunch time I enjoy taking a seat at the bar, ordering an Amberboch on draft and having a few laughs with Graham while he shucks the oysters. In addition to the oysters, I love their rich, complex seafood gumbo. The grilled triggerfish is always cooked perfectly. The tuna dip is a huge portion of smokey, creamy goodness. Even the French fries are uniquely yummy.

The service was great and that’s why I’m leaving two stars. We went in for dinner. The menu is limited for a full restaurant. We ordered separate items and neither of us were impressed with the food. The chowder was okay, but I’ve certainly had better. The fish only had seasoning in the batter and that wasn’t even very good. Stuffed shrimp was extra dry. Side items were bland.

After living in Destin for four years I finally got a chance to try this restaurant out. The place itself looks dark but the inside is nice. Has a small diner feel. The people were very nice and the food was pretty good. We had the oysters to start out with which were very fresh. For dinner we had the grilled shrimp and the blackens mahi. I liked the shrimp but the mahi was a little dry. I would recommend giving the place a try.

A long time institution in these parts, & for good reason; great seafood, fresh oysters, three dining areas(oyster bar, pub, dining room), friendly service in a casual atmosphere, & easy on the wallet. Never been disappointed here.

Wife and I sat at the bar, as they were busy. Split a sandwich and we both had a beer. Paid with my debit card, wrote zero in for tip, and gave the bartender a cash tip…20%. Checked my bank statement and found that they added another $ 5 tip… will never go back again. Crooks.

Bottom line worth the price. I am not a seafood person and neither is my wife. I ordered the red snapper grilled and my wife ordered the sea food kabob. Both were tremendous. The dozen oysters for our appetizer were the best part of the meal. Also happy hour on Friday went to 7pm had great cheap drinks. Great atmosphere and better service. Everyone was happy to serve and a pleasure to talk too.

Another great visit highlighted by superb staff. We’re told the kitchen was busy &!we’d probably have a 25 – 30 minute wait, so we took a seat in the lounge. With 2 toddlers in tow(4adults) we were a bit concerned… but, before we knew it –2 sips of a frosty draft Amber Bock(8 minutes) – our table was ready! We asked our über attentive server, Diana, if we could get the kids’ meals started before we actually made choices for the adults…“No problem, I’d be happy to do that for you.” Five minutes later the adults munched on deliciously crisp, very dilly, lightly battered and fried pickles while the kids dug into their chicken fingers & fries. Even with a packed house Diana checked back with us frequently to make sure everything was in order. Can’t say enough about the polite host and overall friendly, terrific wait staff. Good, solid quality food too! This has definitely become our local«go to» neighborhood restaurant & oyster bar.

I had the raw oysters as a starter and they were very good. They tasted fresh and had a lot of flavor. I had the soft shell crab as my entrée and it was also good but nothing spectacular. The reviews I read about the great hush puppies were correct. Hush puppies are awesome. We sat on the patio and it was very nice and laid back. The service was really good. The waitress was nice, friendly, had great suggestions, and was very attentive. The prices were on par with the other casual dining places in the area. Seafood is pretty expensive everywhere and this was kind of high, but again it was about like the other places around there. It was not excessive just a little bit on the high side. But we were expecting that everywhere we ate in the area. The rice, which we heard so much about, was really good, but a bit overrated. Even the waitress said how amazing it was, but we found it to be just a tad less than amazing.

Fabulous oysters on the ½ shell. Really good seafood gumbo. Old style seafood restaurant.

Great gumbo! This is one of the last«old-times» seafood restaurants. That being said, probably 85−90% of the menu is fried! I did order the appetizer size boiled shrimp(½ pound) and they were done very well. Trying to satisfy my fresh fish craving while in FL… still trying…

I enjoyed a delicious blackened triggerfish. Thank you for letting me sub steamed veggies, and for always being ready to refill my water on a hot day before I even noticed I was running low. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, and I had a wonderful experience here. The outside of this building doesn’t look like much, but the inside is totally charming and I wish I’d had more time to look around.

Old place, but cool kitchy décor. Feels like a beach place. Not ON the beach, but close enough to be a fun hangout. Oysters are fresh-shucked, and tasty. Mild, very little saline, slightly sweet… solid. Fried pickles and clams as good as they can be.

If you are looking for a relaxed, reasonably-priced place to have oysters, gumbo, and a beer then this is it. The staff was great. Lots of locals stop in to dine. I’ll be back.

Rustic tourist area place, oysters casino was delicious! Coleslaw was some of the yummiest I had ever tasted. I read onljne about their hush puppies, which I liked but weren’t the best I have enjoyed. The key lime time is a highly recommend. But what is the best about this place was the service! My server was fantastic I! Friendly, attentive! And when she noticed my tea glass was empty, she actually said to me” I apologize that I let your tea run dry, that should have never Happened!” I was appreciated it very much! In addition, the server who had the table behind me, needs to be congratulated on her level of patience. These people clearly didn’t read the menu, and kept wanting stuff the place didn’t offer! The man even wanted to know how many ounces a portion was! The Server handled it like a pro and was sugar sweet! This place is a highly recommend!!!
