I went in for an endoscopy. That is where they run a camera down your throat to investigate problems with the esophagus, stomach and/or the small intestines. I called to set up the date and time for the procedure. I needed someone to drive me home and my relative wasn’t available that day. They changed the date without a problem. I was given a 20 percent discount for paying up front for the hospital portion of my bill. I was nervous when I arrived. Everyone was so friendly that I felt better. I did spend several hours in pre op because ICU patients needed to go ahead of me. I understood that and was just glad I wasn’t in such bad shape that I needed a front of the line ticket. I was taken back to the OR where again I was treated very well. Everyone introduced themselves and was very professional. I was told to lay on my side and the anesthesia was injected into my IV. The next thing I know I was awakened in post op where I was given a drink. The doctor came around pretty soon and told me what he saw. I was given printouts of the conditions I was diagnosed with and told my opinions. I was also told the biopsy results would take awhile to get back and I would need to make an appointment with my primary care physician when the results were in. I appreciated them telling me what they knew that day rather than waiting for weeks with no information. I was given a perception to help until I saw my doctor and was able to go home. It took awhile for the propofol to wear off and I had a sore throat for a couple of days but all of that was expected. I thank everyone there for making a nerve racking day easier on me.
