Older equipment which sucks when i know i pay the same price for other planet fitness facilities that have more up to date machines… its also pretty small and crammed together… customer service could also use some improvement but for 10 bucks a month i can deal plus this isnt my home gym(i live out of state)

I love Planet Fitness! The staff is so friendly and helpful. I can’t believe that it’s only $ 10 per month, because it’s the cleanest club I’ve ever belonged to and they have so much great equipment.

A good gym for equipment and price but they need more customer service training. I have been a member for several years and still no smile and greeting when I come in. There is a gray-haired woman who acts more like a school vice-principal than a gym employee(not being ageist, I’m 64)…she s very suspicious and not friendly. There is a new general manager but no changes so far…

The only good thing about this gym is how cheap the basic membership is and that you can make an appointment with the trainer for free, other than that this gym leaves much to be desired. The staff is very unfriendly. I’ve been going for at least 6 months now and I can’t remember one time when a staff member would either say something to me when I come in or say something to me when I leave. What really bugs me about that is 99% of the time the front desk employees are just talking to each other rather than being nice to their customers. The other thing that really bugs me about this gym is that it doesn’t even have half the equipment that other gyms that I’ve gone to have. But hey I guess you get what you pay for, so $ 10 will buy you rude and inconsiderate staff and half the equipment.

I joined this Planet Fitness for when I visit my mother in Fort Myers. I work out 2 – 3 times a week to keep in shape so that I can maintain doing the things that I enjoy while, hopefully looking as good as I can. I can’t think of a better gym to do that in than Planet Fitness. The staff is friendly and courteous, the facility is spotless and even at peak times there is plenty of room to get a workout in without waiting forever for a machine to open up. I have not seen the dreaded alarm go off but I have seen one of the owners, who happened to be re-racking weights, ask a patron not to drop his bar bells on the floor.(the bar bells bounced towards another member working out) I get what a previous reviewer said about it being«natural» to drop weights but there are some serious lifters at the gym that seem to do quite well maintaining the Planet Fitness’s rules. I belong to two racket clubs up north, one which is incredible from it’s four pools, two basketball gyms, rock walls, squash courts and ridiculous selection and number of free weights and machines, all in pristine condition. So I know what a great club is and am willing to pay for it. Planet Fitness, in my opinion, is perfect for working out in a clean, very friendly atmosphere that offers enough machines and weights to help 99% out there achieve their goals. And you will see a true mix of members from those in great shape to those who are not in great shape but are working towards it to seniors who are trying to maintain. I really love that. And at $ 10/month… Planet Fitness is one of the true values that I would pay more for.

I did a lot of research with gyms in the area and decided on Planet Fitness. Like most, the low price attracted me. $ 10/mo, only a $ 30 annual fee… can’t beat that. At least, none of the local gyms come close. There’s a black card membership that’s $ 20/mo and includes unlimited tanning privileges and nicer guest pass privileges. The gym itself has all new brand-name equipment. There’s a machine for every muscle group in your arms, chest, back and legs. The free weights are rubber, but who cares — 50 lbs of rubber is no different than 50 lbs of iron. The things people complain about in other reviews I’ve seen are absolutely invalid and ridiculous. Planet Fitness actually does have«classes», but not in the way you’d think, they’re more like«first come first serve» sessions where 4 – 5 people attend a training. One of the reasons people come to PF is because they don’t want to pay a heftier monthly fee for classes — I certainly don’t, since I never used them. There are free weights, cardio machines and everything else you see in other gyms. Yes, they have a rule where you can’t drop weights or grunt, but I never did either, so I don’t care. The rule doesn’t seem to bother anyone else there, either. Also, I’ve never heard the ‘alarm’ go off, ever. The place is clean and they encourage clean machine seats & benches(there are stations with sanitary spray and paper towels for you to wipe down the cushions when you’re done). There’s also a locker room — bring your own lock, of course. I like the fact that I can pretty much go on any machine(there are 2 of each) when I want. I went to a handful of different gyms in north NJ over the past 10 years, most of which were«guido gyms» with morons coming in and treating the place like a hangout spot, but you don’t see that here. This is a good place to consider if you want to just come in, work out and not deal with BS or people treating the machines like lounge chairs. One thing you’ll see about Planet Fitness is that many reviews on other sites were written by competitors who bash the place because of its business mentality, just use common sense when you read reviews. If you’re looking to transfer your membership to another Planet Fitness, you need to be a member at one for at least 3 months. Had to check on this since I might have to move back up to NYC for a bit.

I think Planet Fitness is a fantastic gym but you have to go in knowing the type of atmosphere they want to perpetuate. There is a no «grunting» or weight dropping policy. Why? Well… they want everyone who comes in to be comfortable and un-intimidated. If anyone breaks the rule a light flashes and a horn sounds. Personally, I think the rule is silly and the alarm even sillier… BUT it accomplishes what Planet Fitness wants. While I wouldn’t feel intimidated by grunting or weight dropping — my wife would. After reviewing several gyms in the area we chose Planet Fitness because my wife felt the most comfortable there. You will see people of all ages and of all shapes working out at Planet Fitness. The atmosphere is very welcoming and people generally keep to themselves while working out. There are people on staff to walk you through how a machine works or proper form for exercises. Furthermore there are free classes where a trainer designs a personal plan for you. Planet Fitness also offers free classes for strength training and weight loss goals. Planet Fitness is beyond clean. The whole place looks like it is new out of the box. As one of the employees pointed out, at least three cleaning stations can be seen from any area of the gym. The free weights are not steel… this does not bother me. 50 pounds of steel is the same as 50 pounds of rubber, or rock, or plastic. As long as the weights a balanced properly, and are the right weight, they could be filled with coffee beans for all I care. Membership is cheap partially because there is no sauna or pool. I can live with that. If you’re looking for a clean gym with reasonable prices and you can live with the no grunting/weight dropping rule — then Planet Fitness is worth checking out.
