Great Hog Fish sandwiches and home made chips. Seafood boil was good but the BLTAE on sourdough is a must try. Yes this is bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato, avocado and egg! Great service and all open air dining right on the water. We will be back.

Unilocal is not up to speed. Dixie Fish Company is under new ownership and and completely rehabbed. This is our new go-to place in Ft Myers Beach on San Carlos Island. What a fabulous spot! The view is incredible and having been purchases and rehabbed by the experienced owners of Doc Fords, this is going to be a hug hit. We were pleased beyond belief that this little outdoor restaurant bar is no smoking and it is reflected in the clientele who are flocking to this little bar restaurant on the back bay. It is a shame Unilocal doesn’t clear off the old reviews as this is an entirely different restaurant. Because of the charm of the name and old signage, they are keeping the same name, but it isn’t even a purchase of the actual restaurant. It was a purchase of the former owner’s building and a new restaurant developed from scratch by experts.

*gasp* Dixie Fish is gone! :-(We were so looking to reprise our visit of last year but, alas, it wasn’t an option. It appears that the building is being gutted, maybe as a whole new place. On to find a replacement…

Great local-yokel bar and grill, right on the harbor. Sit and watch the pelicans, ships going in and out, etc. Took the kids, they devoured their fish and chips while my wife and I enjoyed beer-battered grouper and a crunchy grouper sandwich, respectively. Beer selection is weak, but the location at the harbor is great(find it under the bridge by Doc Fords). Again, if you’re looking for an extremely casual hole in the wall but with a great view and decent seafood, this is a good spot.
