Linwood Optical of Fort Lee

I called at 10:03, three minutes after the opened, and they promptly answered with a friendly greeting. The doctor was booked all day til 5:30, something I witnessed, but they took my in between patients for an emergency. I was scared I had cut my cornea and was in extreme pain.
I walked in and they were already expecting me– paperwork took a minute and they checked on me to make sure I was okay.
I didn’t have to wait long before the doctor saw me. He checked my eye very thoroughly and reassured me that my eye was fine, I had just gotten something in my eye that had irritated it intensely.
He wanted to make sure I was okay, and asked me to stock around the plaza for 15 – 20 minutes and follow up before I left.
The salesperson/​secretary was extremely helpful and compassionate both on the phone and in person. She made me feel ask much better about my «emergency» lol
The doctor was busy but had a great attitude and remembered my name (if I had to see a new patient every half an hour… I wouldn’t remember anyone’s name). He was very nice about checking my eye again when I felt a pain and was very thorough in examining and cleaning my eye of irritants.
I’m so glad I decided to go, and they accepted my insurance so I only paid the specialist copay. Also I noticed they only booked a patient every half hour– not over booking is key to quality service. The doctor is usually in six days a week and they have late hours. There’s also a huge free parking lot.
I’d recommend them to anyone in the area.

Dr. Shahinian is one of the best optometrist I’ve ever been to.
I got here promptly for my 6:30 pm appointment, filled out the basic patient information form, handed my insurance to be checked, and waited less than 15 minutes before I was seen.
One thing of note. While an eye exam should be covered by most basic insurance plans, double check with your insurance to make sure a vision plan is included. This will save you a ton of hassle and speed up the process immensely.
Anyways, my eye exam was pretty routine, and Dr. Shahinian took his time to explain everything he was doing. I was done within 30 minutes, and got my new prescription ready to go.

Dr. Shahinian is an absolutely fabulous optician and medical professional. My entire family uses him for our eye care and he has always taken excellent care of each of us. He takes a great deal of time with each of his examinations and his prescriptions are always on target. But this is the first time I needed him for a medical emergency where he fit me into his busy schedule immediately and took care of my problem with his typical skill and professionalism. His staff is very capable and professional as well. I would recommend Dr. Shahinian for exams, glasses, contact lens fitting or any medical optical need.

I have known Dr. Shahinian on a personal level for years, and he is one of the kindest gentlemen you will ever meet. I also recently purchased my new frames from Linwood Optical, and I was really impressed with his knowledgeable staff. I have a larger head than the average person, yet his staff immediately fit me with a pair of black Gotti frames that fit me perfectly and make my face look nice and slim. Linwood Optical’s professional staff taught me that I have been wearing the wrong shaped frames my entire life.

Dr. Shahinian’s staff is highly knowledgeable, professional, and personable. The frame selection is comprehensive. I absolutely love the FreudenHaus frames I ended up purchasing here. And generally my lenses look like coke bottles because my eyes are so bad, but the master optician that worked on my lenses did a magnificent job cutting them to fit my frames discreetly.

I went to get contacts at Linwood Optical recently. I was very impressed with Doctor Shahinian. He is friendly and very thorough. Top notch care.

I started seeing Dr. Shahinian when i was a student at Columbia University. I was referred to him by a family friend who raved about his gentle manner and thorough examinations. After one visit to Linwood Optical I was not only impressed by the care Dr. Shahinian expresses as a doctor, but also by the selection of glasses in his office. Linwood Optical has WONDERFUL frames and the optician is excellent. He is very good at helping you pick out frames to suit the shape of your face. Everything is of superb quality, and I’ve always been happy with the final product.
During my last visit I got a little carried away and bought 3 pairs of glasses and 1 sunglass frame from them. They have a full variety of styles from young and hip to mature and elegant. My favorite pair are my Lafont’s. I am often complimented about them and have referred a bunch of people but figured I should spread the love digitally as well. I brought my mom to Linwood when she visited me in New York, and she decided to get her Rx filled here for reading glasses after seeing their selection.
Lastly, I felt compelled to write this review because I have been trekking for the last 4 years from Boston to Fort Lee annually for my exams. I can’t seem to find an optometrist with the skills and sweet personality of Dr. Shahinian back in Mass. Dr. Shahinian never rushes appointments and spends enough time with you to make sure your prescription is accurate and that you are seeing as clearly as possible. Hopefully an annual trip is all I will need for a long while.

i’ve been seeing dr paul for over 10 years now and he’s always been very professional and friendly. he likes to joke around with his patients and i’ve never once felt uncomfortable at linwood like you might sometimes in another dr’s office. he pays a lot of attention to small details and will go back to make sure and re-​do tests if results are less than certain. i went again for my yearly checkup this past week and asked him a few questions regarding a chart. he proceeded to take out a pen and a piece of paper to explain some physics to me. awesome doctor, totally recommended.
