decided to try this place based on the raving reviews and and ordered their chicken, carnita asada and pork tacos, although the service was great and courteous, i’ve had way better including at not so authentic mexican restaurants, not to mention i almost broke a tooth while eating the chicken taco! it was not worth the $ or place, also the truck has a «for sale» sign, i don’t know if they’ve changed owners and most of the reviews are old but NOT worth the hype ATALL, i’m completely disappointed and sad i’m out $ 9 but grateful i did not loose my tooth!

Cute place right off of 84. Boyfriend and I wanted to check this place out since it sound and looked so unique. We ordered 3 carne asada tacos, chicken taco salad and chips salsa with a side of rice. Chips were not good, kinda burned and were made from flour tortillas. Salsa was warm/hot and wasn’t bad since he made it to order. Taco salad was ok. Nothing special at all. Carne tacos were okay, soggy and the cook placed napkins under them so the napkin kinda stuck on my taco. I asked for extra napkins and he said we only get one. Not worth $ 2.95 at all. The rice was so bland it mainly taste of tomatoes. Over all we will not be coming back. Food was not worth it and service was even worst. Menu prices are kinda pricey for what you get, and with that I would rather just dine in some where and get free chips and salsa.

the new owners have no idea what they are doing. They don’t even cook their own food they hired a bad cook. The old owners knew great taco food. The old owner served fresh grilled pineapple, new owners… you will never believe this… canned tidbits like you get in an elementary school cafeteria. No spices, no flavor anymore. bland boring nothing special. anymore!!! New owners need to go live in Mexico for a year or find a really good cook or sell or close down. So that’s just one example of a great place with new owners that have a bad cook can turn great food to dog food. Wait my dog eats better then that!

Preordered a chicken burrito for pick up from Tropical Tacos«Grill» which was pretty good. It comes with homemade chips and mine were nice and crispy just how i like them. This food truck has had 3 – 5 different owners since they first started so the check in promo for a free drink will not be honored. The owner actually said that this listing is not of her truck yet the pictures match up. They also have a $ 10 minimum on credit cards so keep that in mind. Other than that food was okay. I still loooooooove chipotle more.

A small food truck on state rd 84 across from Li’l Reds BBQ my friend suggested to try the tacos here. The California dude who decided Florida was missing out on tacos he had when he visited Mexico and made recipes — I heard the fish taco was killer. Tropical Tacos truck was bought out two years ago by a polite Cuban decent woman by the name of Olga. She was telling us how evening is made fresh. Most of her loyal customers eat here 3 times a week. I met some at the picnic table telling me how everything on the menu is great. We ordered the fish taco, the steak taco, carne asada, and chicken taco. They all kinda looked alike on the plate. To get sour cream, salsa, cabbage and guac on your tacos it’s an up charge of 50¢ per taco The chicken was in chunks and marinated and juicy. The steak was lean strips. Carne asada is well seasoned ground sirloin beef .I recommend the carne asada, you just need to eat it within minutes or the orange oil will soak through the corn tortilla leaving you with an extra messy meal. These tacos are quite messy which is a good thing to eat them outside by the picnic table. The black horse flys suck here, but they don’t bite they just land ALL over your food… Fish tacos had a beautiful golden brown battered shell, a great crunch and tasty fish. The cabbage gives the California feel, and makes the taco great. The tortilla chips are fresh made and the crispy bubbles is what got me. A thinner chip than the tortilla used in the tacos, great crunch and tastes perfect. We both shared the tamarind and horchata drinks. They are freshly made and sometimes aren’t available. The tamarind had the tamarind in the bottom of the cup,(I didn’t know till the last few sips) a tasty tangy surprise. Horchata is a rice milk with cinnamon and tastes similar to rice pudding. There are neat facts listed on the truck describing the drinks. The Jamaica drink wasn’t available but is a hibiscus flower drink freshly made and strained. They didn’t serve ice with these drinks which didn’t water them down, but then again they weren’t ice cold. Great tasting tacos, fresh tortilla strips. I recommend the fish tacos and the carne asada.

Oh, Tropical Tacos. I wanted to love you. I did at first but your standards just fell. What were once flavorful, fresh authentic street style tacos have devolved into bland, tasteless, limp tacos that even homemade hot sauce couldn’t save. The first two times I went, it was heaven. Your Lengua and Chorizo tacos made me so happy, the flavor flushed my cheeks. But a year later I returned and in it’s place was some tiny bits of tasteless unidentifiable meat, sitting lukewarm in my paper basket. i’ll give you another chance in a couple of months to see if the romance can be rekindled. i really wanted this to work about between ua. For now, I just need my space.

We came on «cinco de mayo», which although is admittedly a US drinking holiday, we were looking for something authentically Mexican to at least try to celebrate the culture. It was evening, around 8PM or so, and they were out of a lot of the menu. There was also a mishap with their credit card machine, which caused quite a wait before we could order. The staff were extremely friendly, though — and we were compensated with a free flan for the wait. We ended up ordering several tacos, one of almost all the varieties that they had in stock that day. I love lengua tacos, so I was really happy when she said they did still have lengua available. Unfortunately, nothing tasted very authentic nor did it have much flavor at all. A bit bland, even with the hot sauces she provided us. They were good, just not what we were hoping for. The free flan was unfortunately inedible, too gelatinous and not the texture flan is traditionally. Perhaps it was the craziness of the day that left them harried, though. We will be back to try them again.

Very tasty! I give a 3.5 stars. They were out of a few things on the menu at 1:30 Saturday afternoon. But we still ordered and it was all good. Give it a try if you’re in the area. Quick, cheap and tasty food

Good taco but, you have to get there before he runs out! It is literally a truck that looks like it doesn’t move. The owner is a nice guy too.

I’ve been on the hunt to find tacos that beat La Tienda Latina(Gainesville) here in Miami! First too was Tropical Taco, you don’t pay attention you’ll miss this little food truck tucked away on the side of the road. Friendly man in the truck informed me that they were out of the lengua(beef tongue) which was a bummer. I had their carna asana, fish, pork taco. The carna Asa’s was pretty standard, the pork was extremely tender and flavorful, the fish taco was not something I would order again. Over all this place is great and they have many more things I look forward to trying on the menu.

I called the number on Unilocal before going and. .. THISHAPPENS: «Hello. . Is this the taco place? Are you there? Of course we are, why wouldn’t we be? Well the last two times I stopped by no one was there That’s impossible, I am the new owner and I am very conscientious. Oh I must have the wrong number then, wait are you next to the VFW? Yes and we are always here… Okay, I don’t want to argue I just want to come eat Can I take your order? it’s better for you because we are very busy at lunch No, it’s okay no rush I am not that familiar with the menu I’m on way way okay see you. Upon arrival there is one customer happily eating tacos and I meet the owner and identify myself as the caller. We continue to discuss the impossibility of me coming and no one being there. I said something like there was a sign that said we would return shortly or something to that effect and the owner said, no we don’t have that sign. I said, maybe it said«due to the rain», she admitted that was possible –they had closed due to some rain. I also showed her the hours posted on Unilocal. She said, «I am not a social media person so I have no idea why Unilocal says that. She reminded me they are closed 2:30 — 5:00pm. So. .. okay fair enough but now we know why you’re not here when I stopped by, perhaps it was 2:45. So this is where it got surreal: She says, you should go over and look at that sign and learn the hours. I proceed to take a picture of the sign with the hours so I will never forget: The big sign says. .. ready? 9:00AM — 9:00PM There was more but I don’t want to seem like I am piling on the new owner so I’ll stop now so here’s what you need to know. Good tacos and quite a large selection of food, not super cheap for a food truck and conscientious new owner who will argue with you no matter what you say or whatever proof is right in front of her like her own sign and they are NOT open 2:30−500PM. Good luck. I’ll be sipping a cheap beer at the VFW watching the show.

The food barley passes the decent meter on the flavor scale. When I went, they were out of almost half the menu. They didn’t have any salsas or anything special to offer. The owner was around talking to people. Seemed like a nice lady, but this taco truck is an investment for her, She told me she was a school teacher. She doesn’t know anything about food and I doubt she was Mexican. You’re better off eating at Chipotle if you want to eat fake Mexican food.

I’ve been meaning to try this place after seeing the reviews on Unilocal and it being about 4 minutes away from my job. I’m Mexican and have been having a hard time finding decent tacos in Miami/Broward area. I thought this was going to be my new go to spot when I can’t make it to West Palm Beach but I was wrong. I ordered the carne asada and al pastor tacos with a drink. I had no problem ordering because I speak spanish. The meat on both tacos were EXTREMELY dry and tough, the tortillas taste like the kind you buy in a store and reheat… nothing authentic about it. I won’t be eating here again.

Food truck that serves authentic Mexican tacos, burritos & quesadillas. They are now starting to serve flan & rice pudding. The owner gave me a sample, it was good not overly sweet. I had the Carnitas today aka pork tacos. They come with only pico & cilantro so if you want cheese or sour cream just ask. The hot sauce is homemade and mucho caliente but so addictive. I always get a horchata to wash it down, which is a rice milk & cinnamon drink. The place gets busy at lunchtime and everything is made to order so be prepared to wait a few minutes but the ladies inside hustle to get the orders out and everything comes out just the way you order it even though english is a second language here. Try this place if your nearby and don’t mind a rugged mexican food truck experience. The food is worth it.

Just met a friend here for a quick lunch break from work. I was immediately excited when I saw the menu items offered authentic Mexican plates. I ordered the fish taco and a carne asada taco and a Tamarindo(basically a tamarind fruit juice). Warning: if you don’t speak Spanish you might have a hard time getting certain common ordering processes understood, like«separate checks» or «do you have any straws?» Aside from the language barrier the food was good. Not the best, but for $ 3 a taco, I can’t be mad. We had to search for the salsas which was needed for my dry carne asada taco. The fish taco was pretty good on it’s own, but everything could use an extra kick. Even the salsa verde was on the mild side. Maybe I’m just a spice junky. All in all, it was a nice quick lunch. Cheap food. But not worth the trek from my office to try again. On another note, the location of the place is not where Google Maps says it is. It’s actually closer to I-95 next to the American Regions hotel.

The bf is on some taco kick lately, seriously I might worry he was pregnant if he wasn’t a guy… every time you ask him what he wants to eat it’s tacos! Late Friday night he suddenly decided he was hungry, and surprise surprise, he wanted tacos lol. Personally, I wasn’t in the mood, but know it was close to 10pm in Broward county and there wouldn’t be many food options. Pulled up my handy Unilocal app and remembered I had this little gem bookmarked, and yay it’s super close to the house. It’s a little tricky to find, even knowing it’s next to American Legion which isn’t well marked in the dark. We drove past it once and had to do a tricky u-turn to get back — for reference it’s on the south side of the street, very close to the 95 off ramp, directly across from a Sunoco gas station and a BQQ joint. Yes, this is a tiny food truck with one picnic table out front. You are very close to the 84 traffic, and eating here may not be everyone. We ordered 2 tacos for me — al pastor and a lengua, and the bf got 3 — carnitas, lengua and carne asada. They were sadly out of tamarind juice so I stuck with water. The tacos are cheap — total price including a water and a soda was ~$ 13. The food took just long enough to come out to get me starving, but not too quick where you worry it wasn’t cooked fresh. There were three taco sauces to choose from — mild, hot and very hot… with the mild being perfect for me for added flavor. To be honest the tacos were good, but not mind blowing, and I really couldn’t tell the difference between my two meats. Onions really became the dominant flavor in my mouth. I’d go back just because it’s close to my house, cheap and has that authentic feel — but for flavor I’d be tempted to drive somewhere else. Tip — others have mentioned it’s cash only. I came prepared with cash, but there was a sign up saying they take credit cards for $ 10 or more.

One of favorites hole in the wall places. This little food truck located right in front a legion serves some of the best tacos in town. They actually have lengua tacos(tongue tacos) my favorites. My wife loves the crunchi gringo taco which is basically a taco on corn flour in a crunch shell taco. I also love their variety on salsas my favorite is their red salsa with roasted peanuts. The only downside from this place is that they don’t sale alcohol, but dont worry about it you can always go to the Legion and grab a cold one and come back they dont mind. You can pay cash or debit, however if you pay with debit the tip can not be add it to the check so please be prepare and bring a couple dollars to tip the guys. Overall great place

It’s nothing but a small roadside food truck parked along 84 next to the American Legion with one picnic table and four chairs. So, you’ll find the dinning ambiance rather primitive as well as some of your fellow customers, a few of whom may be on break from work at the local marinas, others appearing as overly inked escapees of a local tattoo parlors and then maybe a few of the afternoon Legion drinkers. They do have a rather good selection of tacos more specifically referred to as «street tacos,» including the traditional tongue taco, plus burritos and other Mexican foods. Of course whatever you get is served on a paper plate with plastic flatware but generally garnished with a couple quarter sized slices of radish and maybe a small slice of pickled pepper. However, such adds to the roadside or picnic environment of the place and overall most of their food that I had was rather tasty, nicely prepared and to me far, far better than the chainy standardized crap or sterile environment of a Taco Bell. They have a fairly decent selection of sodas from a cooler but if you want a beer, there is an American Legion right next door and though I am a card carrying Legion member, I’ve never been asked to show card here and have never seen anyone else ever asked; so it would appear to be one that is generally open to all. Matter of fact I sort of get the feeling that the Legion and Tropical Tacos work together or at least have a thing going between themselves. I can’t really say I’m a fan of the place, but I’m giving it four stars because the food really is street food Mexican, though not street cheap inexpensive; but not some other alien Hispanic mishmash, Americanized improvisation, Salvadorian, Cuban or other weird assed concoction.
