The Waffle House

Having lived my whole life north of the IHOP/​Waffle House line — I mean, Mason/​Dixon line — this Northerner has had few chances to try one of this country’s roadside institutions. And after a bumpy flight and frustratingly long wait for a rental car, a quick, greasy, comfort-​food breakfast seemed made to order.
Now, if all I tried were hash browns and bacon, I might have come away thinking that we’ve been missing out on some of the finest breakfasts known to man up here. The Smothered Hash Browns with sautéed onions (which I kept calling home fries, much to my Missouri girlfriend’s chagrin) were wonderful — crisp and warm and greasy. And the bacon was, well… delightfully bacon-​y. Also enjoyed the coffee more than I expected — the solid, hearty, slightly burnt quality reminded me of home, in a comforting New York greasy-​spoon diner kind of way.
On the other hand, while I generally think my tastes are pedestrian, a couple of areas where I can’t avoid being anything but highbrow are with cheese and maple syrup. So my eggs and cheese — scrambled eggs with what seemed like drops of congealed Velveeta mixed in — were pretty gross to me in both flavor and texture. My girlfriend’s pecan waffle seemed meh to me on its own, and once you throw on that disgrace that comes in a packet that they call syrup, it was inedible. I’m not saying I expected Waffle House to have a «Pure Maple Syrup — $ 1.00 extra» option, but… whatever that was was vile.
Service was very friendly and efficient, though the building itself seemed a bit unclean (especially the restrooms). I’m oddly glad I tried it, but I’m thinking I’d skew towards other roadside options during my next cross-​country jaunt.

The consistency of Waffle House is definitely deserves the 5 stars. I rarely eat there but every-​time I do it’s exceptional.

Soooo unprofessional… they dont greet u… had hair in my food asked for a manager she didnt care her response. I’ll bring u another one no apology no nothing. the cooks fixing food grabbing on his cloths n hat then grabs waffle… dirty dirty dirty. point blank period service sucks

We drove all over Christmas morning and landed at this place. First of all, if your OCD dont go here.
The place was dirty and the food terrible. As for the staff, i enjoyed watching them work as a team and our server provided great service, id go back to have him as my server.

This place is actually shocking; for a while my friends had always recommended The Waffle House for someplace to eat, but I went there with some friends and we were sorely disappointed by it.
We walked in and instantly was assaulted by a plethora of smoke from the grill, and were told to just sit anywhere by one of the servers. We chose to sit next to the window where the vent was so we could breathe through the smoke, and started looking over the menu. There wasn’t much to choose from, so we all decided what we wanted and sat there for a while waiting for the server… She didn’t come over till one of us got up and tried to get the attention of one of the staff who was sitting there texting.
Eventually we got her to come over and take our order, and got our food a few minutes later. The food was layered in grease and fat, and the bacon was so salty you needed to drink a few glasses of water to keep it down. The cheese on the food wasn’t anything special, just slices of American that tasted like Kraft… which was sad. Apparently they are known for their hash browns which were undercooked and barely edible.
We paid for the food and left hungry even after eating, and feeling sick from grease. All we know is that we won’t ever be wasting money there again.

If you want to feel bad about yourself and the local community then this is the place to go. Greasy food cooked in a dirty kitchen and then served in a dirty dining area. Employees are stereotypical ghetto low life’s with no respect for themselves or people in general. I’d rather drive down to the davie location than eat here ever again.

One of the worst waffle house I ever been too. Cook wiping sweat of forehead and continue to serve food with no gloves. Young lady’s very rude unprofessional. Too add food sat on counter for several minutes un-​cover

Came on a Saturday not busy at all took about 10 mins to get seated and another 15 to order food. My lemonade came in a dirty cup. The lemonade tasted like it had jalapeños in it after I asked for a new cup was the same nasty test… Next to the register it smelled like someone took a shit… The kitchen floor had atleast 8 eggs and brown glass in the kitchen

This place deserves 0 stars. Will never go here again, this place is so DIRTY! the employees do not care about making the place look presentable at all! Saw roaches on the floor, one of the employees (I believe it was the manager) sat in a chair and took her shoes off which I found unprofessional, she didn’t bother washing her hands afterwards and proceeded to assist other customers. our waitress was terrible very slow (although I have seen some waitress there that are pretty quick) but I believe she was new because she had no idea what she was doing. I honestly do not know how this place is still operating with the condition it is in. Do not go here.

When you’re done doing whatever shady dealings you have in the hotel next door, come down and grab a bite at one of the more hood Waffle Houses in Broward. The food here is usually meh. I am not trying to pitch WH as cuisine to be highly respected, but there is such a thing as subpar WH food. This particular WH tends to be pretty dirty mainly due to the high traffic.

Visited this location for an awesome Hashbrown All The Way and Biscuits. Delicious! It’s a very busy location but they move people pretty fast with fast service. The staff was friendly and our waitress kept our coffee mugs topped. Would recommend and revisit if I was in the area.

I have been here several times. It’s always overstated AND dirty. Today, i ordered a patty melt. After 25 minutes it still wasn’t on the grill. The staff was milling about.
Waffle House is supposed to be good food fast. This isn’t.

It’s a Waffle House & it’s here, there aren’t many of these in the area. Maybe not the best Waffle House I have ever been to but pretty good, I’ll reserve that honor for the Waffle House off the highway in Valdosta GA. To be honest, my experience eating here many, many lunchtimes is positive. The crew is always friendly, even entertaining! Couldn’t help listening to the ribald gossip! In fairness I always catch my meals here at probably their most off hour between 3−4pm, therefore I always seem to have at least one waitress & the undivided attention of the short order cook, so cannot complain about service at all. My short list of faves are: Bert’s Chili, the best damned truck stop chili period, makes Wendy’s chili taste like watery gravy. The Angus burger, for 2 bucks a better hamburger than any fast food joint, & served to you on chinaware with your choice of toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickle onion, mayo), can’t beat it. The smothered hash browns in lieu of French fries excellent with Tabasco! My dessert is always their signature Waffle, no contest here, there is no better Waffle on planet Earth! As for this particular location, no way to put this delicately, you WILL see toothless crackhos in here, Waffle Houses are like a magnet for them & their johns so be forewarned, don’t think its the fault of Waffle House just the area, but hey they are customers & they have to eat too. Not an issue for me, just another fact of city life. Silverware was super clean, & they have an AirForce hand dryer in the John. Great!

Waffle House. Yet another road trip stop that I have never heard of because I grew up in California. What can I say? This place is super cheap and super quick, so you can get in and get out in a snap, especially if you have a seat at the counter.
I enjoy hashbrowns when they’re done right, and Waffle House gives me the option to put a whole bunch of crazy things on my hashbrowns. Yeah… that’s pretty much done right to me. Cheesy mushroom hashbrowns and eggs and probably some bacon or whatever else I got for about $ 6-​$ 7? Yeah, definitely not bad. If there’s no Cracker Barrel nearby, I’d definitely opt for a Waffle House.

This place was awe full, the food was served cold, the place was so cold inside you could hang meat. Last time for this place. If you want good food go some where else.

I had never been to a wh before this. A friend and I came here, the table we sat at was dirty. It wasn’t cleaned until five minutes later of sitting at it. Waitress was impatient, played around in a group of staff around the flat top stove w cooks instead of being an attentive waitress. When we were ready to order I called out three four times w no answer or acknowledgement. The place wasn’t busy and I know when I’m speaking and blatantly being IGNORED. After that we just walked out and as we were doing so, the whole crew laughed. I’m African American n my friend is Italian and It def felt like we were DEF discriminated against by an all African American staff like from the moment we entered the place. I’m thinking, how in the world are they in business?! And for the people who come on here and say oh don’t let «one bad experience» be your judge. My career is w a company that wants to be the #1 retailer in the world for starters and I’ve always worked for companies like that. Which means I’ll be the last person to pay my money for crap service that they obviously wanted me to beg for. Whn I am handed lousy service that’s the first and last time. Horrible service seems to prove epidemic for wh though. If a person goes out of their way to write a review, ITS PROBABLY TRUE

Waffle house is really great. They always have hair in your food to add extra flavor. Sometimes I ask for more because what’s in there just wasn’t enough, and they happily give it to me :). Anywhere else that I ask for this they never want to give it to me. They tell me its disgusting, I think they say that because they obviously haven’t tried it, if they have they would like it as much as I do.

Two pork chops and eggs over medium, toast and hash browns, they were slammed (Sunday am) but definitely took care of us immediately and the food didn’t take long, great choice for breakfast.

My faves:
Strawberry waffle.
Pecan waffle.
Cheese eggs.
Coffee.
I usually order either a strawberry or pecan waffle, cheese eggs & coffee for $ 9. Can’t beat that price & it keeps me full all day.
Waffle House makes me love living in the south that much more.
There’s always a seat at the counter which guarantees fast service.

Stopped in for a quick bite with some friends.
The prices are ridiculously inexpensive. 15 available meals under $ 5.
I went with the classic double waffle which comes with a fountain beverage of choice. Nothing incredibly special or memorable about the waffle. Sampled the blueberry waffle and while its tastier, its not great.
Although, you hardly come for first class dining, I wish more options were offered.
