As someone who looks real gay and walking in hand in hand with my wife we didn’t experience an homophobic employees. I thought everyone was super friendly and knowledgable. They have a great selection of meats. With every item we inquired about we were provided with cooking tips which I loved! Tip: the ribs and a few other items were frozen which I wasn’t too happy about. I’ll only be back for the more exotic/hard to find meats.

Staff is definitely racist, but the meat cuts are legit. Only reason I pushed my intuition aside and gave them three chances. Colored folk please let me know if you find a comparable spot. Tired of getting treated like a second class citizen, especially after giving this bigoted establishment hundreds of my hard earned money on three separate occasions. Funny, I received so many private messages from other patrons and even previous employees about how racist the owner is after posting a review on Facebook. Only color a business should be worried about is green, congrats on losing my money.

So I go to Smittys, pick up about a 3 lb pork roast and 6 stuffed pork chops. $ 83 Man do I miss Cattlemens. Stuffed chops were huge. Mainly stuffing and bone, little meat. Pork roast is gorgeous and cut from the same large pork loin I get from BJs. Won’t happen again.

Home and professional chefs, this is it. Boutique butcher shop that sells quality cuts, and accompaniments for a decent price. You do not see these places around anymore. Highly recommended for the WOW factor in your dinner. Has a nice wine selection with a few bottles priced REALLY well. Ample parking, good selection, fresh produce and a various pasta selection.

Just had another amazing steak. I did nothing to it — just heat and eat. No seasonings. No tricks. The flavor was all marbling, age, and cow. Perfection! The fellas who work at Smitty’s are a joy, I never leave quickly and always have a great chat. I’ve asked the dumbest questions and gotten patient advice — if they sell it, they can cook it and are happy to teach you.

I can’t believe old school butcher shops still exist. I grew up in a neighborhood with 2 butchers shops. Supermarket meat is cheaper and more convenient BUT not even close in quality and taste. Bought some rib eye steaks, and they were great.

Based on the reviews, I gave this place a shot. I bought various cuts of meat including NY Strip, Delmonico, Brisket, Pork Chops, etc. and was VERY disappointed in the quality. No better than Publix and much more expensive. I am happy to pay for good quality, but THIS was not it.

I was perusing the internet looking for a deli in the nearby area, and came across Smitty’s due to the high rating and all the good reviews. Well, I wasn’t disappointed. The people who work here are extremely knowledgeable and always offering to help. Add in the hilarious jokes and good atmosphere and it’s hard to go wrong. The price is certainly on the high end, but its easily the freshest and best quality of meat you will find. No comparison to the endless supermarkets and grocery store meats.

Word to the wise — this place is NOT cheap… as in… be very wealthy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find epicurean bargains you won’t find elsewhere and if you want top of the line deli food and/or butcher items — this is the place. They have melt in your mouth prosciutto that rival anything you’d find at Doris’ and their Havarti with dill by the slice is sheer cheese heaven. I also indulged in a not too pricey bottle of rose champagne(which being from Spain actually bears the moniker of «cava») and it was quite good. This looks like an excellent go to spot for game foods from duck to lamb to really great cuts of meat — but when I say they’re worth their weight in gold… it’s cuz they cost that much.

Outstanding selection of wine and fresh meat; delicious ready-to-go dinner entrees such as tender beef kabobs with veggies; deli meats and cheeses including some hard-to-find beauties like bresaola; some seafood and produce; bacon, pâté and sausages; cold drinks; $ 5 bottle of wine-of-the-week; assorted gourmet goodies. Friendly, helpful service. Support this wonderful local business… a true gem!

This place is amazing!!! The shop is so cute and homey with a great selection of meats, sides, and treats. They were so accommodating for me. You can’t ask for better customer service. I’ll be by every time I’m in town!!!

To Victor B and his partner; I believe you and your partner received the wrong message. I am a gay man and have been going to Smittys for over 4 years on average 2 – 3 times per week for purchases. They no doubt have the best meats and sundries in the area. I know all of the butchers on a first name basis and I can absolutely assure you that there is no bias towards gay, straight or anyone else that shops there. The shop will proably be there long after I am gone. I am so sorry that you have formed such an opinion and can only urge you to return for another visit. Smittys will do whatever possible to help anyone; doesn’t matter if you are buying 1 meat patty or a whole beef tenderloin. Everyone is welcome

I was ill or I would have gone back much sooner. This time I got a beautiful 1″ bone in loin veal chop. I grilled it to perfection and it was so tender and delicious. If it wasn’t so thick I might have been able to cut it with a fork. I also got some loin lamb chops & a 3″ bone in rib eye which they happily cryo’d for me. I will update soon. I am thinking about trying their aged beef.

I went to this butcher for the first time today, and my partner and I were initially excited by the quality of the meat and selection of wine. That was before a customer and the butcher got into a long conversation about how disgusting it was to see two men kissing. We won’t be back. It most definitely is“Old fashioned.” This butcher needs to be introduced to the 21st century. He’s living in the 20th century, and he and his customer base will be gone in a few years. Good riddance!

Smitty’s is my go-to place for Thanksgiving. Their Amish raised free range and free range organic turkeys are seriously the best. They make homemade stuffing and more than 12 different homemade pies — my favorites are the Wildberry and Sweet Potato. I stopped by yesterday to pick up my turkey(they were closed but I had made prior arrangements), and the place was hopping with every oven going, every burner on and eight people cooking and assembling all the culinary delights for the holiday, including the owner and his daughter. These people are committed!

I’ve found Smitty’s amongst the very best for meats. Expensive? Yes, but worth it. You can get cheaper cuts at Publix but once you trim the fat and other garp off their meats you end up with not only the same amount of meat but a much more inferior cut of it. The one thing I love about Smitty’s is the old time sawdust on the floor. It makes me feel like I’m in the real thing, sort of harkening me back to the days of my youth when super markets were for canned goods and butcher shops were where you had to go to buy your meats. Also there is a matter of greater selection. You can’t get elk, American Lamb, gator, various cures of bacon & etc. at your ordinary super market. You also can’t get the courteous attention, service and willingness to do specialized cuts. I don’t know why the name heading is Smitty’s Old Fashioned Butcher Shop of «Coral Ridge» because this store is in Oakland Park.
