One of the best things about the City of Fort Lauderdale is its docking facilities, particularly those in its downtown area and more particularly its small boat(26 feet or less) docking facilities located on the New River along the north shore of what is locally known as the«New River turnaround area» just east, downstream, of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Docking here isn’t meant for overnight, is primarily for short term commuter and recreational use, there is no water service, electrical hookups and docking is free of charge. Larger boats can also be docked along the New River that are equipped with various amenities for a charge. Arrangements for those may be made by contacting the City Dockmaster. I find myself continuously making use of the small boat docking facilities as I’ve found it easily accessible and particularly handy for docking when I visit the Riverwalk, Linear Park areas or the restaurants, bars and entertainment establishments of what is locally known as the Himmarshee Village or those within Fort Lauderdale’s Himmarshee District.
