Based on our experience, we would not recommend Designed Interiors Inc. or Elliot Acosta for interior design services. We met with Elliot Acosta 24 October and he assured us he could help design and partially furnish four rooms in a new house by 04 December. After we signed his fee agreement and provided a $ 2,500 deposit, he informed us he was going on holiday for a week.(first red flag) Fast forward two weeks, we saw little progress from Elliot Acosta(second red flag) and decided to proactively reschedule our move-in date to 18 December. That would give him a total of eight weeks for the project. At no time did Elliot ask us what we budgeted for the project(third red flag) and it wasn’t until week six that he visited our old house to see our taste and the furniture we wanted to take to the new house(fourth red flag). We made multiple pleas for a comprehensive design plan and the cost, both in person and in email. As of 15 December we had neither.(fifth red flag) 16 December we received final pricing, which was 56 percent over our budget(sixth red flag). Still missing was a rendering for a built-in piece of furniture and color selections. Meanwhile he was ready for another deposit. There is a lot more detail to our experience with Elliot Acosta and Designed Interiors Inc. In retrospect, there were red flags all along the way that we should have heeded. We ended up visiting a furniture store and choosing all the pieces we needed in two hours. We should have a furnished home by February. Had we not wasted our time with Elliot Acosta, our home could have been furnished by our original move-in date and we would have saved thousands of dollars.
