They closed down… Upon a second visit I wasn’t as impressed. Still disappointing to lose my local cheesesteak place.

To my great disappointment, I drove by the other day and a large«For Lease» sign was hung in the window and nothing remained inside but the kitchen fixtures. I hope you folks find another location soon — you were very good!

Came to the restaurant on my lunch break … The restaurant was closed down for good. Very sad because they had really delicious cheesesteaks. So much for my lunch break.

Philly in Florida. Moved to a suburbs of Philadelphia known as South Florida back in 2005, and since then I’ve spent everyday looking to find a good cheesesteak place. Cheesesteak Experience is as close to the best cheesesteak you’ll get while your in Florida. The cheesesteak itself is pretty good, and hits all three major areas(meat, cheese, bread). With wiz or American cheese is usually the best, although I will say they could use more cheese. The sandwich comes with a lot of meat, so it is very filling, and the bread tastes just like it came from a bakery in Philadelphia. They have the perfect amount of salt on the meat to make it taste delicious. A bit disappointed by the fries here, as they just taste like they have been frozen and defrosted. Again, with the cheese fries they need to add more cheese. All I can say about the food is just go try it for yourself, you’ll be glad you did. Cheesesteak Experience does a good job of customer service, mainly because the lady who runs it from Philly understands the need for a good cheesesteak experience down here. Lots of social media engagement and this is seems like it’s really a family owned business. The price could be a tad bit less expensive, yet it isn’t over the top. The lack of good cheesesteak places in South Florida makes this place a rarity. Considering South Florida is basically a suburbs of the Northeast, Cheesesteak Experience is a perfect fit for the area. Food(B), Pricing(C+), Atmosphere(B), Service(B)

This is a true Philly Cheesesteak spot. When I stepped in the place I felt like I was back home in Philly again. South Florida should be so lucky to have price of Philly here. The service was great just as I would expect from an authentic Philly spot. For you it might seem like an experience but for me, it felt like home.

Tried many a version here in SoFla, and this one was very good. I go provolone«wit» and was not dissapointed. Good meat, sharp cheese, onions carmelized just right, and the bread was spot on! Nice people inside and owner too. Give it a try and decide for yourself. Or drive the five miles to the nearby airport and go to philly.

Born and raised in SE Pennsylvania, know a great cheese steak and in S. Florida it gets no better. Jeff and Momma Cheesesteak and son will make sure you are pleased, that’s good ol Philly hospitality. I always get provolone, onions and a few things I like flavor wise, no problem ever. Amoroso rolls, the best right here in paradise!

Update 09÷05÷14: CLOSED/OUT OFBUSINESS Original Review: This place is legit. Hands-down the best steak I’ve had in South Florida. Couple that with the fact that the proprietors are friendly and authentic Philly, and it’s easy to understand why Cheesesteak Experience was just inserted into my starting lineup.

Wow! This place is awesome! Food is fantastic, prices are reasonable, and the employees are super nice! The owner is extremely friendly and down to earth! We brought our boxer to sit outside with us and they were super pet friendly – even brought our pup some water. Love it! Highly recommended!

The real deal! This place has the best cheesteaks out of philly. The owner is from philly and apparently has been doing this for about a million years now so he nows his craft. Everything is very fresh and the portions are very generous. Highly recommended!

After having this place bookmarked for a while, my friend and I finally decided to give it a shot. While I am from the west coast and may not be the best authority on cheesesteaks, I can say that I have had better. Though the cheese wiz was definitely a first for me! I normally like my cheesesteaks with provolone, however I channeled my inner Ron Burgundy and said to myself, «when in Rome.» I ordered mine with onions and peppers as well. The cheese was mostly on the top, so many bites were wiz-less, and the steak didn’t have as much flavor as I would have like. It was a pretty generous serving however; I couldn’t even finish it. The owner greeted up upon arrival and was very nice and helpful, as was the rest of the staff.

Well, it’s not Geno’s. Or Pat’s. And for those of you that know outside of the two obvious it’s not Tony Luke’s either, or a lot of other uncommercialized places in PA/NJ with a bangin’ cheesesteak. Owner is from Philly which is the reason I decided to check it out. I went all the way– wiz, mushrooms, peppers, onions. The canned mushrooms put me off a bit but I can move past that, I found the steak just lacking in flavor. And I guess I like my wiz to be a little bit of a thinner consistency(hotter temp perhaps) so it melts all into the sandwich not super thick laid on top. Hoagie roll was probably the best part. The owner was very nice and the staff made sure we were taken care of with everything we needed. But I may just wait for my next trip to PA for a cheesesteak.

«Jeet???» I knew I was going to have to explain that question to my husband from Venezuela. «Honey, it’s Philly for ‘Did you eat?’» Luckily, I did not have to explain how amazing the cheesesteaks are — he got that right away. I’m from a Philly suburb, and when you grow up in or around Philly, you eat a lot of friggin’ cheesesteaks. But as I got older, I found myself eating them only once or twice a year. But since we moved to FL, and I found Cheesesteak Experience, I have eaten more cheesesteaks than I would ever admit to my cardiologist — or my husband. THESEGUYSARETHEREALDEAL! The first time I ate a cheesesteak from these guys, it was like that scene in «Ratatouille» where Anton Ego has his first taste of the ratatouille and is transported to his childhood where the dish was his comfort food and he gives a deep smile. I was home! No need to go back to Philly now — except to visit the family, and maybe have some crabs at Chickie’s and Pete’s. No matter what you have, it will be amazing. Don’t be afraid to try the homemade buffalo sauce on your steak or your crab fries. I have always been strictly a «provolone with» kind of gal, but after trying the sauce last night, I smothered my steak in it, and proceeded make it disappear!

For some experts – Tomas, Marcus, and Nina – youse three are being stingy with your stars. Raving about how much youse enjoyed it/reminded you of Philly/transported you back to to your childhood in New Jersey has me a little mystified as to why you’re not giving CE the full 5 stars. I’ll just chalk it up to cognitive dissonance I guess. Lots going around In this Lauderdale native’s opinion, this are purveyor of the closest thing to a Pat’s cheesesteak you will get in/near my hometown, and I’m on a continuous lifelong search. That’s all ye knows and all ye needs to knows. Jeet?

Born & Raised in Northern NJ where the battle between Geno’s and Pat’s in South Philadelphia was certainly not one of the things we fought about. It was in fact our battle at the NJ Shore to determine if Midway /Steaks Unlimited /or the Original Steakhouse in Seaside had the best cheese steaks. Which leads me to today’s lunch at the Cheesesteak Experience in Fort Lauderdale today s as I was referred by a friend and anxious to see how it held up against the aforementioned. Small place very narrow located in an area of shops just off Oakland Park Blvd across from the Galt Mile. Ample parking«Metered». Just a few tables inside to sit at and a wall of stools with 4 tables outside as well. Order at the counter and they will bring you your meal when ready. Condiments are against the wall and a small fridge holding canned sodas and bottled waters«Limited» Menu says Beer Wine & Fountain drinks I must have missed them as I did NOTSEE Them but they could have been there. Today we tried things. Cheese steak(9 Inch) on soft bun with grilled onions and Cheese Wiz sauce. HOT off the grill, steak was just lacking something couldn’t put my finger on it but a little salt & pepper brought it to life. Bun was super soft which I do not like though is the staple in South Philly as well. All and all it was GOOD it just didn’t blow me away. As the owners stated in previous magazine interview two types of Philly subs, «Genos Type with Rib Eye» and Pat’s Type with Chopped Sirloin. This was chopped sirloin my least favorite and perhaps that was what was lacking in flavor. The Sub we ordered was as they claim«Dietz & Watzon Cold cuts. good quality ample meats and toppings but lack of a solid hard bread for sandwhich hurts the standard sub /hoagie here. Split side of Fries very good hot and fresh oil… All and all it as better than average — place very clean service and ownership very friendly and on top of everything and would not hesitate to visit again if in the area just not one of those stops where I would go out of my way to visit.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia. I lived there till I was 18. I ate cheesesteaks before anyone ever put whiz on them(that’s right there was a cheesesteak before whiz). I have searched south Florida for 23 years for a real Cheesesteak, I’ve found it at The Cheesesteak experience. These are THE real thing. The owners are the real thing as well John and his dad Jeff got it right great people great Steaks. I’ll be back.

Since I have on several occasions been at the epicenter of Philadelphia Cheese Steaks, Gino’s Cheese Steaks and Pat’s King of Cheese Steaks, where the Philly Cheese Steak is both a cultural obsession and a symbol of local pride, I think I’m a pretty good judge of both what a Philly Cheesesteak should be as well as what it shouldn’t be. After all, the competition between those two restaurants has been a continuous 24 hour 365 day a year face off. Classically prepared, a Philly Cheesesteak consists of frizzled. that is hacked with the edge of your spatula rib-eye, melted cheese(for the real thing, in the best Philadelphia accent you can muster, you must say: «Whitz-wit») and grilled onions on an Italian Amoroso bun roll. After having had Cheesesteak Experience’s Philly Cheese steak, I can honestly say that the taste, texture and flavor were the equal of either of one of Philadelphia’s prized cheese steak joints(they are both really little more than street joints), and to my surprise it wasn’t only the guts of the cheese steak that matched up, but also the bun, which to me tasted exactly identical in every way. Though Cheesesteak Experience is somewhat of a hole in the wall restaurant, disorderly, confusing but way to clean and new, the major difference was that my cheesesteak came with polite service, totally lacked in the basic rudeness of a Philadelphia experience. I would also say that the cheesesteaks here are more a following of Pat’s than of Gino’s since they are served unwrapped with Cheez-wiz while Gino’s comes wrapped, even if not for take-out, and unless you say«Whitz-wit,» you’ll get provolone. In my humble opinion Pat’s, the originator of the Philly Cheese Steak, is superior and Cheesesteak Experience seems to be more of duplicate following of Pat’s than of Gino’s, even though the wait staff lacks the well acknowledged Philadelphia rudeness, pushiness and customer insulting behavior.

I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, moved up north for work, and recently moved back from Philadelphia. This place is absolutely amazing. A great no nonsense cheesesteak that rivals Dellasandros up in Philadelphia. I would recommend it to anyone.
