Enjoyed some Great Bites and even more Amazing cocktails @ Burlock Coast in the The Ritz-Carlton FTL for their Summer Cocktail Media Mixer! It was my first time there since they’re renovation and they did a phenomenal job! The Rum Room is amazing! They partner with Zak the Baker! And they source locally in Florida, supporting our local community & farmers! Really have to congratulate Chef Gavin Pera for his incredible culinary influence he’s instilled, and F&B Manager James Camp for developing new and innovative ideas to keep his customers & following engaged! And have to thank James for Carefully Curating our experience as he gave us a gracious tour of the full venue and shared some interesting history lessons on liquors impact on South Florida. Big Thanks To My friends at Brustman Carrino PR for the invite! These guys know how to throw an awesome event, and it doesn’t hurt when you have some of the best properties on the beach as clients!

We stayed at the Ritz during a recent trip to Florida, so we ate this restaurant(located within the building, accessible through the lobby) for dinner one night, lunch one day, and breakfast another. Our dinner experience was pretty satisfactory. I had the burger topped with braised pork, which I enjoyed. It wasn’t anything special, but it hit the spot. My husband had the fish and chips which looked absolutely delicious. We started with the avocado appetizer, which was really just sort of a sad and runny guacamole, I wouldn’t recommend it. For lunch, we tried the sandwich special in the back of the restaurant which is a «grab and go» area. This is were the restaurant really shines. For $ 12 you can get a 6 inch made to order sub(they slice it right in front of you), chips and a beverage of your choice(including alcohol.) for $ 18, you can upgrade the sandwich to a foot long. The sandwiches were outrageously delicious. On our final day, I checked out the breakfast after seeing they offered a duck egg breakfast burrito with braised pork. It was just okay — it was huge, but came drenched in sour cream, avocado purée and salsa(it was just too much) and there wasn’t much meat inside, nor were that or the eggs well seasoned. It was $ 18 but big enough for two.

Had an amazing meal and cocktails. I had a craft beer and rum pairing — the IPA and blonde Pilar — awesome. My wife and I shared squash blossoms, tuna tartare, heirloom tomato salad, and key lime pie. All were amazing — probably enjoyed the squash blossoms and goat cheese the most. Great atmosphere and staff — Megan(our waitress) was great; and the bartender cam out and let me sample another run — again, great experience.

Where are we? This is all we could think as we went through a Night of Vexation. As Locals and Foodies we are always excited when there is a New Business on the Block that seems to live up to the hype. This however was not anywhere near the case at Burlock Coast. Planning our Double Date Night was a no brainier when thinking of something New, Exciting, and coming from a Reputable Ritz-Carlton you know Service as well as Food will be One of a Kind… Arriving on a Wednesday Night around 8pm the Restaurant was dead. With a party of four we decided to sit inside as it was quite the windy night on the patio. We were shown to our table then seemed to have to wait for our server to show up. Giving us time to look over the menu to pick some Refreshers and Bites to Eat, and then some. We were planning on having Dinner here when we arrived, even passing by a couple of spots I had to drag our friends by in order to make it to Try. Something. New! Offering Week Night Specials be sure to inquire before your visit. Wednesday Nights are Wine Down Wednesday’s providing ½ Off Wine Bottles Special along with ½ off the Charcuterie from 6pm to 10pm. After some review of the Wine Menu and not finding anything Stand Outish or Alluring we ordered some Cocktails along with the Artisan Cheese & Charcuterie Board. The Ladies Aviation Cocktails arrived and you could smell them from a far. It took us one second to discover these were not going to be tasty. The smell of Dirty Bar traced over our table. The Taste… A Sip of Hollister Cologne down the throat. Unbearable! In the meantime a Food Runner delivered our Charcuterie Board. Before he left he told us if we need any more Crostini’s to let them know. Immediately we knew we would need more since not nearly enough are provided for let alone a party of two so the request was put in for the first time. Once our waiter came back to check on us and get us new drinks as the ones we ordered were not consumable; we again asked for more Crostini’s. Our service became more and more frustrating with no deliver and no real attempt so we decided this is Not the Spot for Dinner. I ordered another drink to exchange my first one being one of their Sea Kits and was still left unimpressed. The Golden Ale replacement paired with Brugal Especial Rum was less than exciting. The Brew was not fresh tasting and not at the temperature you expect your beer to arrive to your table at. As for the Charcuterie Board there was a nice mix of Assorted Cheeses and Meats with Jams, Pickles, and Nuts that added a nice touch but with a big component missing(the Crostini’s) through the whole meal it was just not enjoyable. A severely disappointing and very unexpected experience to sum it all up. The staff was not welcoming and the whole vibe was very stale. It is yet a beautiful restaurant but we will not be back to dine with Burlock after the Harsh First Impression.

Service was solid, awesome view of the ocean, and my burger and my date’s huevos rancheros were both very good and aesthetic. Burlock’s bottomless mimosas are also a good reason to go, as are $ 1 oysters(not sure if that was a special or always available). One of the better spots on this strip along the beach, be sure to check out the Casablanca café too! I gave it 4 stars because there was nothing amazing, but everything was very well done.

It has been some time since I’ve taken the time to review a restaurant on Unilocal, but I think my really subpar experience at this place warrants one. First and foremost, I for one associate a hotel brand like The Ritz Carlton with excellence. If for some reason I am off base with this assumption than my review is really not accurate. Had this been just any restaurant on the coast I could probably give 3.5 stars pretty easily. So the«experience» began with a hostess who clearly could care less about her task of seating people. I mentioned my second party member was in the restroom as she took me to our table, and I could barely get an «okay» out of her. It was one of those situations where I wasn’t sure if she was really that unfriendly or just unable to hear me– but she brought my friend to the table, so I’m leaning towards unfriendly. The view was great! 5 stars for the view! Now back to negatives. :(Our waiter was pretty bad. He was MIA for most of the time we were there and the time or two he was there we were always left having to shout out to him asking for something because he was always in such a hurry to run off. The person who brought our food was the most nice by far, and that just seems really wrong/off to me. Also, on a miscellaneous side note, the tap water they use in the restaurant is pretty bad. Make sure you ask for lime/lemon. Food was okay. Worth the asking price. My shrimp salad sandwich got mysteriously salty at the end. My personal preference would have been for larger chunks of shrimp too, but the flavor/seasoning was interesting. My friend got the fried fish and said the fish was fine. So that was it. I probably won’t be back, and I am disappointed by The Ritz!

I want to like this place, as the ambiance is fantastic and the locals rave about it; however, the service was incredibly slow and basically lacking and I would have left if I didn’t order my food. After sitting for about 10 minutes in the patio area, the waitress came by and took my order after I asked for one from the maitre d’. I had asked for water when she took my order and it took about 3 attempts for her to get the pitcher of water for my table, so I already knew we were off to a bad start. I had ordered a few drinks for brunch, which didn’t come until I asked the person who delivered my food for the drinks. It was very hot out, so I was thirsty and was annoyed by the lack of service in the patio area(which was very nice to sit in). This restaurant is inside the Ritz Carlton, so I expected a high level of service. It really isn’t okay that I basically had to chase down someone to get water, to place my order, to get my drinks and to pay my bill. I understand that the outside seating area is busy and there were only 3 servers for all of those tables, but I was appalled by the lack of service. I ordered The Hog and the Egg(basically eggs benedict with pork belly), which was tasty, but a super fatty piece of meat with mostly fat and very little meat. The eggs were lukewarm, probably as it sat at the counter for a while before it was delivered to me. The final straw for me was the check, as I had to ask several times to get it. I was very disappointed as I heard great things about this place. For what they are charging, you can do better.

I enjoyed dining at this location. It is right across the street from Sebastian beach and the restaurant is very inviting. Great outdoor seating space that is spread out. You don’t feel like you are crammed in like other places. Inside there is a great bar space and large dining area that is very comfortable. Very inviting and new feel compared to other places on the beach that are a little run down. The food was fantastic. The drinks were delicious. I had their take on a rum runner. We had small plates; we started with squash blossoms, beat salad, and heirloom tomatoes. We then ordered the lobster pasta and a side of asparagus. I will definitely visit this location again

Food is great Service is ‘just okay’ Beautiful place and nice to sit outside, even for the people watching(it’s literally on the A1Aans across from the beach. Everything we had was off the charts delicious but unfortunately we had to ask questions about everything … The waiter didn’t know the menu and had to ‘ask the kitchen’ on a few of our choices… Simple things like«how it is prepared?» and«is it a sandwich?» Definitely will go back but, I’ll give them a bit of time to sort out the staff.

Great for breakfast/brunch. Enjoy fresh squeezed OJ in your«mimi» amongst a spectacular view of the beach! But be aware the breakfast buffet isn’t listed on the menu and is $ 34. We explained to the waiter that the menu was confusing and we didn’t expect it to be that expensive and he ended up comping some mimosas.

Great service. Fab dinner. Tried special pork chop –Sous video as well as fish and chips. A great new place trying new things on the beach. Our waiter JP shared the story and was so nice. Will be back again. Visit 2 like 1 was great.

Great for brunch, not so crowded on Sundays and even though about 50% of the the restaurant is empty the service was slow not just with the waiter but the kitchen. Gorgeous atmosphere very relaxed yet still chic. Impressive food, the fries are phenomenal!

Located in the the Ritz-Carlton, Burlock Coast Seafare & Spirits proved to be somewhat of a disappointment for me. Though it has one of the most lovely beach front views, is spotlessly clean, has an interesting as well as innovative menu along with excellent service, it has a number of downsides. And though I wouldn’t deduct any stars for it, doesn’t offer much in the way of any bang for your buck. First off, when being seated, I highly recommend the patio. The views are great and the acoustics much better. If seated inside, especially when there is a crowd, the noise level can practically bar out any casual conversation due in part to a noise reflective concrete floor and lack of acoustic noise baffling. The menu is complete with some rather interesting as well as innovative offerings such as Florida stone crab, a «Bootleg Burger» comprised of ground brisket, pulled pork, chipotle aioli and jack cheese. Also a tuna tartare, a ceviche, lobster pasta, a «Palmetto Creek Pork Belly,» a whole fish of the day and sea salt roasted beets, just to name a few. For my lunch starters I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and along with their half dozen plate of East Coast oysters. When the oysters arrived they came in an excellent presentation of six(you never do get a lagniappe or additional boot making seven in Lauderdale) along with lemon and three enhancement sauces including their citrus champagne mignonette. The first thing I noted, however, was that the oysters were clearly West Coast, not East Coast. When I inquired about it I was told that they were out of East Coast, priced at $ 14.00, but were giving me the better West Coast, $ 24.00, for the lower East Coast price. Indeed, very thoughtful and considerate of them, and I really have to say, as far as oysters go, they were excellent. For my main, I ordered their Niman NY Steak done Pittsburgh with bone marrow and roasted Brussel sprouts. When served, the steak came on a hot cast iron skillet, the top of the steak with a nice crusty char but the bottom of the steak, which should have also had a dark char to it, had none. In fact the bottom was of a pale grey color and when cut into was cool and rare. I full well realize I’m probably not the typical customer in ordering steak Pittsburgh, but did, as I always do, asked the wait staff in advance whether or not it could be prepared that fashion and in this case I did know that the kitchen of Burlock had the proper high heat equipment to do it. However the cut of the meat along with its enhanced marrowed taste were both good. Overall, with the exception of the preparation and appearance of the bottom side of my steak, were rather good, but taking the price into consideration, it darn well should have been. I’d probably go four stars on Burlock but in comparison to equal in priced restaurants of other nearby hotels such as that of the W Hotel’s 954 Steak, Burlock doesn’t to me seem equal.

You can’t beat the view of the Atlantic and Fort Lauderdale Beach just across the way and the décor is smashing. It’s a big space that has been thoughtful decorated to reflect the sand and sea in warm browns, tans and subdued blue hues. A space that includes more intimate dinning with booths a very large central bar, a large buffet and outdoor seating as well. We came for lunch and though the menu is not extensive it offers a nice selection for fish and meat eaters as well as a nod to vegetarians. Both of us ordered the grouper sandwich. I had mine grilled and my dinning companion had his fried. That may have been the better choice because my fish was on the dry side. The slaw the sandwich is topped with was spicy and saved the day and the bun was especially nice with the touch of sweet rasins. You have a choice of sides and we both chose the salad. Fresh mixed greens with the house vinaigrette. Nothing special, but good. There is a full bar, extensive wine list both by the glass and bottle, canned and beer on tap plus anything else your heart desires to drink. Panther Coffee is also available. A dark rich brew locally roasted in Miami. Our server was excellent including going the distance to provide a sample tasting of tap beers. Two misses for me are the chairs and the tables. The chairs inside and out are the same style but the inside chairs do not have seat or back cushion like the outside chairs do making them just hard teak and a bit uncomfortable. The table legs though stylish are at such an angle that it can make it uncomfortable to get close to the table. I’d like to try the buffet brunch on a warmer day and dine outside and to stop by for a cocktail at the really spectacular bar. A return trip is most certainly in order.

So I ordered the roasted beet salad for take out and I think someone gave me someone elses leftovers! First off there was 4 pieces of wilted arugula, 5 minuscule specs of goat cheese(like the stuff left after you have eaten it), no citrus and I think the nuts were pecans instead of walnuts. which also by the way were tiny little specs. When I opened the box at home, honestly I thought it was a joke. I did not touch it because there is NOWAY a restaurant would put out a dish like this! what an embarrassment! I’m going to post a picture of it because its so messed up! I will NEVER eat here. YUCK

We’ve been excitedly anticipating the opening of this place after the remodel at the Ritz. After reading all the reviews, I have to agree… service is not where it should be at a Ritz-level establishment. The restaurant space itself is BEAUTIFUL! Décor is visually appealing and the indoor/outdoor bar has a great view! After the horrendous table service I just had, I’ll probably try and cozy up to the bar next time. Around 1pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was about ¼ full. The hostess attempted to seat us at what I consider the worst table — right outside the kitchen door, near the back of the restaurant, with the regular hard seats. At least if it were on the other side of the divide they had the cushioned seats! We asked, if it wasn’t too much trouble, to sit at one of the tables next to the windows, no problem. Nice girl came up and introduced herself as our server… The great service ended there. We asked for waters as we perused our menus… About 10 min later, we got our water. I looked around and it looked like she had two other tables of 2. We ordered our food, just entrees, and a cup of coffee. Coffee came another 10 minutes later, «pour your own,» with nothing to stir and food took maybe 20 min. In the meantime, after about 15 min of waiting, we asked if they had bread service? Yes, they did. It ended up coming out after the food. Overall, from a service standpoint(aside from the enormous amount of time it took for simple things like water & coffee), I’m accustomed to the Ritz being much more detail oriented and proactive. Knowing we only ordered entrees, I would’ve expected them to provide or at least ask if we’d like some bread as we waited. I watched as servers came in and out through the patio door paying absolutely no attention to their fellow employees — food runners with their hands full — not bothering to hold the door, or giving them right of way. Same goes for the hostess… Seemed like it was every man for himself out there. The level of service was so appalling it completely overshadowed everything else! Food was 50⁄50. My French toast was fabulous! Fluffy, cooked perfectly, flavorful, barely even needed the maple syrup. The pork belly with truffles grits was just okay… WAY overpriced at $ 28 for the tiny portion that was presented… Nothing about this dish told me it was worth the $ 28 at brunch. Maybe they misportioned this plate? Hopefully these are just opening hiccups… If they could bring their staff training up to Ritz Carlton standards… Or maybe just halfway there, this place could do very well.

We decided to give this new, rum-runner era bar and restaurant a try on a Thursday night. First, the décor is super snappy and the vibe clean and new. Very open, with chill music playing and low lighting creating the right mood. Rum is the speciality of the house, and the cocktails are well crafted and absolutely delicious. The selection of rums, which you can have served any way you want(try on the rocks), was top notch. The selection I had(recommended by the knowledgable bartender) was aged in sherry casks. For starters, we shared a fresh and flavorful snapper ceviche; and a unique and tasty heirloom tomato salad. Both are highly recommended. The goat cheese stuffed and battered squash blossom was tasty and perfectly crisp, although perhaps a tad too much batter which made it overly thick. For main courses, we absolutely loved the black grouper, served on a light, super yummy sauce(very thin layer) with some morsels of pancetta for added flavor. The seared tuna was a beautiful dish, but really should have been listed under salads — it was essentially a Niçoise salad and not as hearty as the other main course. Still, the tuna was perfectly rare and thinly sliced. Fresh and tasty. Service was professional and friendly, and even the manager paid a visit. Returned two days later with a party of six, and everyone loved the food and cocktails! Crispy fish and chips was epic; tuna tartare appetizer was ruby red and crazy fresh; and the whole snapper(baked, not fried) was a work of art — and we polished it off completely. We will keep coming back!!!
