We had breakfast here on Sunday morning last week. My favorite thing was the omelet station. Aside from omelets, there was a good variety of foods to choose from at the buffet. Fruits, Muffins, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Bacon. things you’d expect. The breakfast costs $ 16.50 We had vouchers so it was free so i dont know that I would have paid that much for the buffet. It wasnt really anything out of this world. The coffee is really good though. Strong. The waiter(the person who brought us coffee) was very nice and kept an eye on us. Made sure our mugs were topped off as we ate. Great Service.

I’ve eaten at Bistro 17 located in the Renaissance Hotel on several occasions and have never been impressed. The restaurant is somewhat of a disservice to the hotel being just a place within the hotel to eat without having to go out and certainly not a destination hotel restaurant as would be Steak 954 in the W, Via Luna in the Ritz Carlton or the restaurants of many of the other fine hotels. This is particularly true when one considers the price along with the taste, flavor or uniqueness of preparation. Don’t get me wrong, its good food, but nothing I could find myself to be a fan of particularly since there are so many restaurants close by that are clearly better in every respect at equal prices. Bistro 17 has a rather limited menu and for a restaurant of a top class hotel, somewhat lacks in ambiance and atmosphere. Last time I had their rack of lamb, roughly $ 34 and before that their duck breast done with a glaze of port wine and cherry. I ordered both medium rare to the rare side but both came medium well to well done. The flavor was good; both were tasty, but nothing exceptional or unique in style of preparation or presentation. Basically, for the price I would expect something somewhat better, done with a little more flare and pizazz.

Let me start off with the bartender and food very good. but this place of business has major issues. I went in to use a groupon coupon for dinner in the dinning room as clearly advertised. It turns out that the dining room closes at noon. So my wife and I are stuck eating at the bar because all the tables are dirty and there is no one to clean them up. I was also given a hard time redeeming my coupon.

The menu is AWFUL in that it needs some serious updating — I mean, whoever decided that putting«Your choice of starch» on the menu was a good idea. The actual offering was«whipped potato»(which was superb!) but honestly — using the word«Starch»??? on a menu in an upscale restaurant? Sounds like some kind of prison hospital. Anyway — apart from that — I have to say, my husband had the mahi-mahi special and WOW, best mahi-mahi he has had in a long, long time — it was excellent. Rafael, the host/waiter, was the highlight — charming, great personality, warm, welcoming — we just loved him. My ½ chicken was huge and OK — not fabulous — but not bad either — just the fish was outstanding as was the service. but please, UPDATETHEMENU. Easy parking too, good location — we will go back and I will get the mahi-mahi.

Stayed at the Renaissance/Marriott for one night before my Cruise and ate at Bistro 17 for Sat morning Brunch. very nice brunch as it should of been for 17 dollars they had a good selection of juices and fruit along with all the norm brakefast stuff. eggs/omelet, sausage, pancake dollar sz, ect ect. you dont have much of a choice with in walking distants from the hotel. there is a French bakery that changers 10.00 for a croissant sandwich so i decided to go with the brunch even tho i would be pigging out the rest of the week. the brunch i had is considerably different that the normal Menu they claim its American Cuisine with local flavor in a intimate, tropically inspired setting. so that you will have to see yourself.
