We moved to Fort Collins almost 11 years ago from South Florida and had resigned ourselves to only having seafood when we went back to visit. For some weird reason,(no, not THAT reason) my wife who usually doesn’t care for fish was craving fish tacos last week. It was also a Friday during Lent so, there’s that. We’d driven past Wahoo’s nearly a million times, give or take, and had never gone in. So I Unilocaled it, found overall decent reviews, and decided to give it a shot for lunch. Since then, we’ve already been back and it’s only Tuesday! There’s a great selection of not just fish, but a variety of other proteins on the menu. My wife has a dairy allergy and is sensitive to gluten and they were very accommodating in helping her find something she could eat. I’m a creature of habit and got Combo #2 both times with one grilled wahoo taco and one grilled wahoo enchilada with green sauce. Black beans and brown rice on the side, and I’m a happy camper. Both times the fish was fresh, tasty, and perfectly cooked. My wife got the«bowl» on the first visit and it comes with a generous hunk of grilled fish on top. The second time, she got the Kale Kai salad with grilled wahoo and it also included a nice portion of fish. Both times, we had a side of chips and salsa, sodas, and were out the door for around $ 20 which is not much different from what you’d spend for Chipotle, Mad Greens, or any of our other usual lunch spots. We are glad we finally decided to try this place after so many drive-bys! I know we will be back!

I was really excited to find Wahoos in Foco, after stumbling upon them in 2002 – 3 ish. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly-enough guy who told me their menu is «a little different.» I figure what the hell and get a Maui bowl with chicken, black beans and the white rice & extra pico and a 90 shilling(1 extra star for carrying Odell). Then I sat and proceeded to watch the Chargers get trampled over by the Vikings. And if watching that shitshow wasn’t bad enough, here’s when it just tanked for me. I have never once had a complaint about the quality of the food or how it tasted, but today’s meal was SOOO bland. Nothing really had that zip of real Wahoos flavor I so loved(and it wasn’t just a lack of salt) and missed. Besides the exceptionally friendly blonde chick and the guy who changed the channel for me, it was a total miss. I don’t know if this was just an off day for them and it’s normally better, so maybe i will make the trek back out here. But for now, it was disappointing.

Our family loves Wahoos! It’s our Thursday night tradition. It helps that the kids eat free on Thursdays but it’s one of the healthiest options in town! Everything is made fast and fresh and I know my kids will eat a good meal, one I don’t feel guilty about :) They also have enough space that we often meet friends and family for an easy environment to gather and have yummy food!

Wahoo’s has much more than fish tacos as the name says. They offer a variety of meats from chicken, fish, steak, carnitas, as well as vegetarian options. They have bowls which include protein, rice, beans, as well as salsa. You can choose between white and brown rice and Cajun or Black beans. I always ask to mix the beans. Burritos, fresh flour tortillas rolled up with rice beans, salsas, choice of meat or grilled veggies. You can also get them smothered or fried in the chimichanga form. Delicious. Salads– these are filling and delicious! They are generous with the guacamole and pico, they come with beans, rice if you want it, lettuce, meat or veggies. The salad dressing is homemade as well. Tacos– corn tortillas filled with meat or veggies. These are tasty little treats! The salsas are fresh and the tortillas are grilled and warm. One of the things I love about this place is that everything is made fresh and taste fresh. The fish is always fresh and never fishy. They even make their own enchilada sauce! Very few places do that. On Thursday night kids eat free with adults. This is a really awesome way to give back to the community, Give Wahoo’s a try. The food, ambience, are all ONO!

Wahoo’s is never a disappointment. Good food. Good atmosphere. And they even have gluten free options, which is important to me because of my girlfriend. I must say though, that their shrimp… is so SO good! Very mouthwatering! Words of advice, always get your burrito wet. At least try the shrimp. Ask for guac on the side of your burrito, because otherwise it just blends in with eve
