I got my car here a couple weeks ago. The sales guy was really nice and laid back and didn’t pressure us at all, which I was nervous about. They gave me a coupon so that I didn’t even have to pay for the emissions test ! A few weeks later my catalytic converter needed to be replaced and they didn’t charge me since I’d gotten it so recently ! While there they also replaced a wheel baring they found needed to be done. I’m super happy with the care they’ve shown during all transactions and I recommend this place to anybody, as I think they really stand by their stuff. Thanks guys !

Just purchased a 2005 Subaru Impreza from Cutting Edge. I had never heard of them before buying this car. Kevin was my salesman and he was so easy to work with and he applied no pressure in trying to get me to buy something. Cjay is the owner and although I only met him briefly he was good to work with also. He is very hands on both on the lot and in the shop making sure his customers are being taken care of.
I would like to say that Cutting Edge will go over and beyond what a typical dealership does when buying an older used car. Cutting edge not only sells Subaru’s, but they also specialize in working on them right there on the same lot. They replaced several preventive maintenance items that needed to be done at 100k miles (timing belt, water pump, head gasket, spark plugs, etc) and any other things I found or they found as they went over the car. This is why I bought the car because of their willingness to make sure the car was in great shape and reliably sound.
My previous used car buying experience at a couple of the big dealerships in Ft. Collins, the salesman flat out told me they didn’t know if any timing belts were changed or not and the car is sold as is! One even had a bad wheel bearing and leaking valve cover gasket they refused to fix… So if you need a Subaru that will be in good shape and ready to drive give Cutting Edge a try.

I bought my Subaru a little over a year ago. I talked to Jeff at Cutting Edge and really liked how helpful he was. But, I thought I could get a «better deal» on my own. Sure enough found a car much cheaper. … until it broke down. Took it to Cutting Edge to get fixed. (Their was a short) had great service and it was repaired quickly. Couple of weeks later it over heated. Then the head gasket blew. Long story short. Jeff knows my voice over the phone. They have been wonderful fixing my car always given me a very fair price. I would have been much better off and saved a lot of money if I had just bought from there in the first place. I trust them completely (something I have never said about a car dealer or a mechanic). Highly recommended.

I went to two Subaru dealers in Denver, both of which were ridiculously priced and acted shady or unresponsive. You’d think telling someone you wanted to purchase a used Outback or Forrester for $ 10k-​$ 15k cash would get you some kind of response (they both called me back 2 – 3 weeks from my initial visit after promising to call me in a couple days!?).
After seeing Cutting Edge’s ads on Craigslist, I looked them up on Unilocal and decided to drive up from Denver to check these guys out. They have an entire lot of used Subarus; they go thru the cars and fix what needs to be done (they are also mechanics), clean them up, and sell them.
I arrived on a Saturday afternoon, thinking they were open a few more hours, only to find they were closing in 30 minutes. Because I came so far, the salesman who helped me (Pedro ROCKS) said he’d stay to help me. We walked thru the lot and discussed cars, I test drove a few, and bought my 2007 Outback that day!
They use dealer pricing guidelines so I got a killer deal — substantially less expensive ($ 5k+) and nicer vehicle than I could find anywhere in Denver. Oh… and they had done the timing belt, head gaskets and a few other things they decided needed repair! He threw in the trunk cover and high end Subaru mats (the thick rubber ones) and it even has the thick rubber liner in the back.
I thought I’d pay with my bank debit card, not knowing there is a percentage charged for credit/​debit cards. Since I wasn’t close enough to easily get my checkbook, and banks were closed, he split that cost with me (though he was willing to hold the car for me until next business day so I could bring my checkbook if I wanted). I drove it home that day and had a friend ride up with me a few days later to pick up my old car.
When I went back, I asked them about some minor things I noticed. They fixed them immediately, taking a car out of the garage so they could free up a bay for repairs. They tightened up the parking brake and fixed the gas door release/​mechanism, and disassembled the driver’s door panel to fix a slight rubbing sound I heard when rolling the window up and down; they even took off a sticker that some genius had put on the paint on back of the car. The mechanic knew his sh** and had it all done within 30 minutes!
Btw, had my Denver mechanic of the last 5 years (Eric at HTS Auto Repair), who I know and trust, take a look at the car. He specializes in Subaru, Honda and Toyota. I asked him to fine tooth comb it — said it’d be $ 75 and would take 1.5 — 2 hours. He was done in 20 minutes and told me I got a great deal! He said the work that Cutting Edge had done was top notch and that they used good parts. He was impressed, telling me I got a very nice car that he’d be happy to own, and he was so fast because there just wasn’t anything wrong with the car! He reluctantly took $ 30, saying I didn’t owe him anything since it was so easy to assess the car.
I have nothing but GREAT things to say about the guys at Cutting Edge and am taking a friend there soon to look for a car. A couple things of note– they do offer financing and they don’t work on commission. Great guys, great used cars, great experience! Highly recommend! Pedro was awesome– work with him if you get a chance. As you can tell, I just can’t say enough about Cutting Edge!

We just finished a painless, quick and efficient car buying experience at Cutting Edge Automotive. The people who sell the vehicles are also the people who work on them, test them, and meet you on the lot to show you around. They even answer their own phone and call you to let you know when things are done. They are confident and knowledgable about their cars and stand by the work that they put into them. I am very pleased to have found a business I feel good recommending to other folks looking for a used car!

I had a great buying experience with this dealer. Three weeks of searching for Subarus in the 4K range left me with a long list of nightmare test drives and lying, snaky car dealers. In exasperation, I had given up and decided to arrange things monetarily so I was able to go private party. I drove up to Ft Collins on a whim, as a last resort, not expecting to find a decent car in this range from a dealer. But I figured that since the afternoon was free, I’d be better off looking than not, so I drove up there.
Jeff was great to work with and willing to stay late to meet me, which I appreciated since I got there right past their closing time, even though he had somewhere to be. I was surprised to find several possibilities that appeared to be in good mechanical condition on the lot. The cars were nice, some with a few cosmetic dings, but appeared to be pretty solid. They had addressed and fixed major issues and were willing to tell what they had done to each one.
Due to my previous «education» courtesy of a slew of other car lots, by that time I had approached them as a pretty informed buyer. I made sure I got a Carfax, got it checked out by an independent mechanic, knew the issues well that this particular model dealt with, knew what years/​models were affected by the recalls and what needed to be done as a result, etc. I came informed, but it was a breath of fresh air to deal with him after getting everything from attitude, to pressure, to outright lies/​fraud and mechanical nightmares from a lot of other places. But that’s another post. I appreciated that he treated me with respect and was more than fair in his negotiations and dealings. They bent as far as they possibly could and I appreciated their efforts to do that.
What I appreciated most about this dealer was their customer service. There was one issue that they agreed to do the work on as a condition of purchase, and when I got it home, there was a noise that cropped up right after. I called them up and they were willing to have me bring it back in so they could check it out. It turned out to be a separate issue that I was aware of when I bought the car, which was part of regular maintenance — which I had them repair, since it would have to have been done anyway, and they discounted it and saved me about $ 150.00 off what other shops would have charged.
I wrote this review a week or so ago, but decided to wait and see how they handled the request to inspect the car, before posting. During the time we weren’t sure what the issue was, and whether it was as a result of the earlier work, they were terrific. They were willing to look at the car, willing to back their work, and never had an attitude.
There were a number of dealers I dealt with previously, both on small lots and at large reputable dealers, that were not even willing to give a passing glance to diagnose the issues on what was referred to over and over by different dealers derogatorily as «a four thousand dollar car.» I realize that people are in business to make a profit, and that they can’t spend an eternity fixing every little button and dial, but the request that the car should RUN or at least that I should be able to make an informed purchase, seemed to be too much to ask from many of these places. Not so at this dealer. I don’t expect a car in that range to be perfect, but having it be mechanically sound seems to be a reasonable request. They were fair in their dealings, told me what they could and couldn’t do for the price, were one of the only dealers I visited who actually cared about the mechanical condition of the car and did not become defensive when I pointed out something, like some others had.
What I found was that the dealers who did care and were committed to selling decent vehicles were out of this price range.
This was one of the best experiences out of about 25 dealers selling cars in my range in the metro Denver/​Boulder area.
Cutting Edge is not yet aware that I am writing this review.
I am very happy with the Forester. There are a few cosmetic issues on the one side but I can probably address those on my own, if not they don’t bother me that much because I absolutely love this car. It runs like a dream. It has the heated seats which I love, some nice amenities, it’s very nice, it’s a great car. I have mentioned them to several people and would also feel comfortable coming there for repairs, I would absolutely buy another car from Jeff but hopefully this one will last awhile. =) That’s why I invested in a Subie. Thanks Jeff!

Going to Cutting Edge Automotive is a no-​brainer. With my previous vehicle, Cjay was timely and very cost efficient. Now that I am in the market for a new vehicle, he has been helpful and very upfront with me during the process. I trust Cjay and the team at Cutting Edge Automotive with mechanical repairs and when purchasing a used vehicle!

I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee here and got a ridiculously good deal on a 2007 with leather HEATED seats. Cjay, the owner, helped me find exactly what I was looking for with the number of miles I wanted and the price I needed to pay. I highly recommend Cutting Edge Automotive if you’re looking for a used car or for any auto repair.

I bought a Subaru from CJ, the owner of this shop. He is a small time dealer/​mechanic that buys Subarus, fixes them up and then sells them. I had him take it to a mechanic in Fort Collins to make sure it was in decent working order. I now think he may have payed the mechanic off to say that I should buy it (either that or the mechanic didn’t take the time to really check the car). Within less than 3 days of buying it, the check engine light was on. I imagine he reset it just long enough for me to get it off his lot. Turns out the engine is toast (as well as the AWD). Over a $ 2000 repair. (He also said he had done certain repairs himself that I I’m not so sure he actually did). He had to have known what was wrong with it when selling it to me. This guy is incredibly dishonest and kind of unfriendly too. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.
