Maybe a 2.5 stars. This place was one of the few pet friendly places that wasn’t fully booked for President’s Day weekend. It is also the cheapest which is a huge plus but you get what you pay for. Very out of date and the dirtiest hotel I have every stayed in. Carpets are insanely dirty. It is nice that it has a good outdoor area for pets. Honestly even with the dirt I would consider staying here again just because it was so cheap but be warned. Maybe stay there as a break from camping so something.

Older but extremely clean hotel. The bed was very comfortable, the shower worked great and the staff was friendly and helpful.

We have stayed here many times and especially enjoy the staff who are welcoming, helpful and professional. We travel with two small dogs and find the grounds absolutely beautiful as well as the availability of an enclosed dog run. The rooms are very spacious and always clean. Surf Motel and Gardens is close to shopping and restaurants and many beaches in the area. Fort Bragg and Mendocino have a lot to offer and this beautiful motel is the perfect home base. We will be back– unfortunately, not as often as we would like.

I’ve stayed in almost every motel in Ft. Bragg. I make the Surf my home base when I’m in town now. Clean rooms, plesant helpful staff and you get an ocean breeze right into your room. The perfectly manicured gardens are a nice place to sit and take in the sunset with a cold drink in your hand. Well lit parking lot, high volume ice machines and a great supemarket and an all day breakfast café right next door. They have pet friendly rooms too so you can bring the dag. The rates are more than fair as well. I stay here because I like value, not just low cost.

Nice roadside motel in one of our favorite places. Well priced for the accommodations and on a holiday weekend. Clean and comfy. No ocean view and not really walkable to downtown, but the gardens are pretty and the staff very nice. I recommend if you are on a budget and want to get close to the magnificent northern California coast.

While this motel allowed dogs, they are all over the map with their pricing. We have AAA and asked for one bed-$ 100 – 110 said our guide book, but we were given a room with 2 beds, and a charge of $ 149. I pointed this out to the clerk as she was renting the 1 bed room. She said we had been charged correctly. The next day, when they accidently, mixed up our bill with another bill(at $ 127) I again pointed out that we had been charged the wrong price-no change. When I got home I called and asked for their room rates, AAA, dog, 1 or 2 beds, and was quoted $ 109 and $ 119. All I can say is NAUGHTYNAUGHTYNAUGHTY! I will try someplace next time.

We paid 109 a night and the room didn’t even have a tub. We’ve stayed here before, but we won’t again.
