Expect a line but it’s so worth the wait. I got the«everything on the candy shop floor» in a waffle cone. The ice cream is very rich and buttery so delicious. They have excellent labeling to inform you about sugar or no sugar, nuts and other special ingredients. Also ask for a taste of the mushroom ice cream very interesting.

Super super good! I had one scoop which the nice guy at the counter was nice enough to split into two flavors(trust me it’s plenty). I split the black raspberry chocolate chunk and the mocha almond fudge. The black raspberry was a bit tart and plenty of chocolate chunks. The mocha almond fudge was just as it should be. Both were creamy and delicious. I bet the seasonal flavors are off the hook.

Based on the reviews, I expected greatness. It’s good, especially since there are minimal options in that area but I don’t think it’s out of this world great. It’s ice cream and tastes just like your local ice cream shop. I got mint chocolate chip, my go to if nothing peeks my interest, in a sugar cone and my fiancé got the candy store floor in a cup. The mint chocolate chip was good and had the right amount of mintiness but for some reason the chocolate chips weren’t mixed through the ice cream well. They’d have a bunch in one bite and nothing for the others. The candy store floor was good for a bite but I don’t think I could have a whole scoop of it since it was too sweet. If you’re in the area and craving ice cream, stop by because well there’s nothing else but keep your expectations reasonable.

Big location, almost surprising in a small town like Fort Bragg. I tasted the mushroom, which was more like maple, and ended up with«candy store floor», a bunch of different candies inside of ice cream, which appeals to my inner fatty quite nicely. My fiancée got the mint chip, which was more mint than chip. The cone she got was the standard cone. Overall this place was pretty nice.

Visited twice in 2 days! Ha! Awesome ice cream and reasonably priced! They have some weird flavors like mushroom?!? We tried it and decided it’s not but, can’t figure out what it is… sorry… it’s on main street close to everything and priced like a Baskin Robbins. It’s worth a visit!

Delicious ice cream! Loved the consistency, flavors, service and price. All ice cream is made on the premise. Yeah! Had the mushroom ice cream, with local mushrooms. Interesting! Try it out. Love that they offered two flavor choices in the mini($ 2.50). Least liked flavor, pear sorbet. However, appreciate that they have non-dairy options for my non-dairy child :). Crowded, with a line out the door on Sunday. However, the line moved pretty fast. Highly recommend!

This place is awesome! I’ve had the parline and candy store floor. The employees were very helpful and friendly. Go here if you’re in Fort Bragg and are in the mood for something sweet.

First of all I have to say that no matter whether it’s a holiday or not this place is always jammed with the line with about 20 people and it. How can you say anything bad about a handcrafted ice cream. The rated one of the top 5 in the United States for independent ice cream makers. The flavor range isn’t huge but boy is it good. I had two scoops after I had lunch and I wish I hadn’t had someone to lunch because I needed help finishing the two scoops. Rich delicious sweet cool on a hot day. The place interior is fairly basic most people take their ice cream and go outside and enjoy the view of the ocean. The line moves along fairly swiftly the thing I really like is they make their own waffle cones when you walk in and that’s the first thing you smell is the waffle cone being made. There’s a young man behind the counter that had his own style of turning it into the cone shape using some mysterious devices and a pair of pliers. I highly recommend a visit to this place if you have a sweet tooth.

I wanted to stop by to this ice cream store whenever I’m in town. Even with the GPS, I got lost since it the parking is very small and narrow. The store was in the same building with Taka Grill. We got the one scoop of Raspberry Ripple and Black Chocolate Raspberry. The ice cream tasted incredible and the customer service did a great job. The store is very clean and organized. A great place to enjoy yummy ice cream!

The first time I came here I was 6 months pregnant, i quenched my ice cream craving here while on vacation. My husband and I drove up acc there was a line out the door, abd I can truthfully say the wait was worth it. I had the black forest ice cream and my husband had the skunk train sundae, which was a brownie smothered in chocolate ice cream goodness, I’m pretty sure I ate more of his than mine. This time we went simple with cookie dough and yellow cake batter, all around amazing experience with wonderful creative flavors. A definite must stop if you’re passing through Fort Bragg.

Best ice cream in town! I even sampled the mushroom ice cream, but it wasn’t for me. The staff were very patient, and I finally ended up choosing the cookies and cream and on a waffle cone. The single scoop was packed in, and cost $ 3.50. Cowlicks is located in a great location; I went for a nice stroll with my scoop of ice cream, and there was enough seating inside too. The ice cream tasted great! Only downside was I couldnt eat it quick it enough and it started to melt on me, but that’s on me for not eating it fast enough

Favorite fall flavor is pumpkin for sure! But, it’s all good at Cowlick’s. Basic cone-to-go shop, some seating but nothing special, it’s all about the ice cream! Yummm

Great ice cream. Great addition to Fort Bragg’s downtown scene. Flavors are more on the dairy side, but there are a good handful of non-dairy options. Get the ginger and the mushroom flavor(basically maple). Eat it after some pizza from Piaci’s nearby. About $ 5 for a double scoop? Not bad at all and they are huuuuuge scoops. They also offer more than just ice cream scoops(like sundaes… and smoothies) Employees are also super nice! Would love to visit again.

MUSHROOMICECRAM! Local Candy Cap Mushroom Ice Cream, to be exact! Steven is friendly and convincing(recommended the Mushroom Ice Cream) and owner Nancy is friendly and obviously enjoys what she does and appreciates her staff! Store-made waffle cones and Jamoca Almond Fudge are outstanding as well! Coconut was tasty and Ginger had that bite you were searching for — nothing shy about these flavors! Cannot wait to return!

It’s hard to find places that make their own ice cream these days! This place is great. I tried the black rassberry chocolate chip and the strawberry cheese cake. Both were amazingly creamy & flavorful! Price is great too!

I love ice cream! This place is one of the best I have ever been too and I have been to plenty. I got a small sundae because we had just ate dinner in town! The hot fudge is the best I have ever had. It is very rich and silky smooth. The ice cream was amazing as well. I got Rocky Road and it was very smooth with just enough marshmallows and nuts. The prices are very reasonable as the one scoop sundae with a half banana was a runs $ 5.75 and for a mom and pop shop is a great price. This is a must for anyone in the area or just passing through the town!

Pretty good ice cream, but not sure what the huge hype is? I actually came across Cowlick’s in some travel magazine because it was popularly rated as one of the best ice cream stores in California. The place is quite large, though service is fairly slow for an ice cream place — seems like people get pretty complicated orders here that take time I guess(shakes, splits, etc.) I kept it super simple as an ice cream purist, I got the cake batter. I found the texture to definitely be pretty good, and the flavor was strong as well. Definitely super creamy with a nice flavor balance. And it’s cheap! Pretty yummy stuff. tldr; good ice cream in Fort Bragg! not the best ice cream in California though as all the travel magazines are saying

*****Very Good Ice Cream & Excellent Selection!***** What a delight it was to find this place on a road trip to find the best ice cream on the Pacific Coast. The shop is open and whimsical. The staff and customer service were excellent. They allowed us to taste just about every flavor which took about 15 minutes because of the wide selection. The hosts had smiles the entire time. My favorites were many but the Raspberry Swirl really stood out. I did not want to drown out the taste of the ice cream with any topings. However, if you want them. they have topings galore. Instead, I opted for the waffle cone. Reasonably priced ice cream that is made in house. Rich flavors and creamy texture have me liking this place. I almost bought a shirt because of my love of their creamy creations. Delicious Ice Cream!
