While the décor is tacky, the restaurant portrays a very VIP feel being that it’s hidden deep inside Dr Evil’s underground lair. Jokes aside, you wouldnt expect to find this level of «poshness» in Fort Atkinson, and the prices reflect that. We opted not to go with an appetizer and head straight for the ½ price wine on tuesdays. This place gets 3 stars alone on the most modestly price wine list I have ever seen, let alone giving ½ off on tuesdays. The entrée was less than impressive. I ordered steak diane with double veg & no potato. The steak was borderline overcooked, and got tougher as it sat on the plate, i think the chef didn’t rest the steak after cooking. That really didnt matter though because I couldn’t taste the beef through the EXTREME amount of pepper it was crusted with. Pepper completely overpowered the dish, and as if that wasnt enough, the demi glacé had peppercorns in it. They were hard to avoid, and very unpleasant to bite into. My «double» veg consisted of 6 spears of asparagus(cmon guys). The entrée hit well below the price point of $ 21 Tartufo for dessert was dusted with a gag-reflex inducing amount of cocoa powder and was nothing special besides the fact that it got that pepper taste out of my mouth. Conclusion. go for drinks = yes, go for food = no.

I have too many happy memories of this silly place to give it anything less than five stars. I’m biased. I’m sorry. Good times.

The restaurant itself is cosy. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which came out quickly and was pretty good. Our entrees, on the other hand, were very disappointing. There were 4 – 5 other parties in the restaurant(parties of 2 – 4), but for some reason our food took a full hour to prepare and serve. We ordered steaks– nothing too intricate or time-consuming to cook. They were also mediocre. A full hour to prepare 2 steaks on a Saturday evening, when you have 4 – 5 tables? Unacceptable. They get 2 stars instead of 1 since they had Louis Martini wine by the glass.

Not what you would expect in a small town. The atmosphere is great and the food was excellent. One of the best meals I have ever had! Great martini and wine list too. Reasonable prices for a high end experience. Nonsmoking dining room and overlooks the river. Great eclectic shop upstairs called I Love Funkys. The service was wonderful and made you feel welcome and important. Try the spinach dip and just about anything on the menu.
