Sunshine Grille Bistro & Catering

I’ve been here various times over the years. I’ve tried numerous items on the menu and have a good sense of the overall quality.
As it turns out, Sunshine Grille is a great place to get breakfast food. I had the waffles today which were pretty good. Nothing life changing but still pretty good. Overall, very consistent with a good buttermilk style flavor.
I was able to sample the french toast and pancakes as well. Out of the three, the waffles were the best. However, the french toast was really good minus the syrup. This didn’t make sense to me.
I’ve found the subs here, primarily the cheese steak, to be disappointing. Mostly because they are very greasy. Also, I recall the fries not being particularly good. It’s been a little while so I might swing by for one. Great cheese steaks can be found down the road at Palmisano’s though… if you’re wondering!
However, if you’re looking for a good brunch spot in the area, I would recommend this place. It seems to be the saving grace and I have no complaints with the food I received today. However, if you’re coming a Sunday, expect a wait as it gets packed. The seating here is pretty cramped and it can be hard to hear some of your group if you have more than five.

Went here about a week ago. Everyone was pleasant. Even people who werent our waiter spoke and made sure that we were OK. We went about 3pm on a Saturday and it wasnt crowded at all, We sat on the heated Patio. The loaded baked potato was amazing! The midwest skillet was a little bland but nothing some salt and pepper couldnt fix. My friend got the Porterhouse steak which was absolutely amazing, from the sauce to the veggies on top.

They catered our wedding reception, and did an amazing job! The owners themselves were very easy to work with. Their menus were extensive and ranged from casual to formal, eclectic to traditional. Perfect service and delicious food (not to mention, they did a beautiful presentation). Guests were raving about the food. I will use them again next time I need a caterer.

Great breakfast with a group on a Sunday morning. The place was packed, but they took our order and we had our food in no time! Everything was delicious. We ordered a little of everything, the crabcake benny, the california benny, pancakes, waffles, scrapple and eggs — all perfect.
Tip: make a reservation and enjoy!
Only suggestion — ever consider expanding your coffee options or changing the brand? It was really muddy.

Love sunshine grill food! I usually get their Greek items and haven’t been disappointed in all my years of eating there. They also have the best baklava in the Baltimore area! I love baklava and try it everywhere I see it, but SG uses real honey and you can definitely taste the difference! The other cakes they offer are just ok, some we have tried in the past were dry.

All I can say is. You’ve come this far, get the ship right. Last three times have been dreadful…

I’ll keep this simple mostly because I’m so short on time (read: I don’t want to bore you before getting my point across)
Hands down this is my favorite local joint to have lunch at. The prices are fair (maybe even a little low) the food is delicious, and the wait staff is extremely attentive and friendly! If you’re in the area and your hungry, (actually even if you aren’t from the area) make a point to stop here! You will thank me later!

We came there last weekend after a soccer tournament and the place was packed. They had several large parties (2 parties of 30) and we walked in with 16. They were so accommodating and so nice to deal with. No one seemed overwhelmed or in a panic and there were people everywhere! The staff was amazing and on top of everything and the food was delicious and the portions were huge. We will definitely be back the next time we have a soccer tournament in the area. Wished we lived closer or we would be there all the time. Thanks for the great experience!

Back room is cozy, staff is great, good food. Laid back neighborhood restaurant. Nice place for a couples night

Last night was my first time here and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but turns out we had a wonderful evening.
The restaurant was busy, but not so busy that we felt rushed. My husband and I were able to sit and just talk for a little while, instead of feeling like we were holding up a needed table, which is nice.
They have a good selection (about 3 or 4) vegetarian items (not salads), which is a LOT for most restaurants these days, so I felt like I was able to get something I wanted, instead of just grabbing the only thing available to me. I got the portobello panini, which was really good. There’s only so many ways you can make a veggie sandwich, so I always prepare myself for the bare minimum, but this had a very unique taste.
I had to use the restroom while here and was surprised to find that there are candles lit inside, but the smell was amazing, so a good thing! They also had candles throughout the outside seating as well. It felt like coming home — everything smelled so good.
It seems everyone on staff here pitches in to help. We had about three severs, constantly checking to make sure we were okay and if we needed anything. We were never short on drink refills or anything else we needed. If other restaurants did this, I think customers would be a lot happier. I was also surprised to see that as soon as people left, someone was right there to clean off the table. The servers seem like they are happy to be there, and they work appropriately. Because everyone pitches in and helps, it means things get done in a very timely fashion, rather than someone feeling overwhelmed and not being able to get to everything that needs to be done. The usual downside to this is that you usually have one person who doesn’t pull their weight, but that was not the feeling I got at the Sunshine Grill — everyone genuinely pitched in and did equal work.
We will definitely be returning.

They have awesome service — in all the years we have been going there, we have ways had great experiences. The food is really good– we love the breakfasts. The bread has changed– really wish they would go back to homemade bread. Now it tastes like bread you would get at the grocery store. The homemade bread made the cream chipped beef (and other breakfasts) perfect. The home fries are also very good.

Our family is a frequent flyer at the Sunshine Grill. The kids love to get the pancakes anytime they come, which are always good. Last night I had the bison burger, which was very good. It was cooked to a nice medium rare, and came with sweet potato fires.
The service is always great, and they have a very good craft beer selection. No drafts, but well over 50 bottles to choose from. This is a nice hidden gem with great service, large portions, and good prices.

My guy and I love this place. It’s off the beaten path so it’s good for when all the local places are packed. They have really good salads and burgers. But my all time favorite is the spinach pie. Best spanakopita ever. Full size portion at a small plate price. Put that together with a cup of crab soup and you can’t beat it. You owe it to yourself to try this place out.

Last evening my beautiful lady and I went back to the sunshine grill.
We have returned many time because the food and service are so good.
I could tell you everything we have eaten but the short of it is that we have never been disappointed.
It is a little of the path but that adds to the experience !

Disappointed. This was my first visit. I ordered the two egg platter. The scrambled eggs had some kind of additive. The turkey sausage must have been precooked. It looked like it was grilled again so it was super dry. The home fries were burnt and greasy. The bagel was ok but the amount of butter put on the bagel was enough to induce a heart attack. No fresh squeezed juices. Double T Diner would have been better– and trust me it really pains me to say that.
To the Manager who responded: I wish I still had my receipt!!! I would post a picture of it to PROVE I was at your restaurant. There is no way you don’t add something to the eggs, unless they were cooked in a dirty pan??? I make just eggs at my house, how come they don’t have brown specks in them? If the turkey sausage was fresh it was extremely overcooked. The bagel was buttered and yes there was butter on the table as well. Again, potatoes were burned black and greasy. I’m making my review one star since you felt like you needed to call me a liar. I assure you I’m not lying and I was at your location today and we certainly won’t be returning.

Again no complaints only praise. The rib special was great. Good smoky flavor and plenty of meat on the bone. String beans had a tomato sauce light. Good mac and cheese. Staff polite and helpful as always. The lobster potpie was full of lobster and made with chunks of crust mixed in. My companion said it was the best she ever had.

Stoped in today for some delicious fish tacos to celebrate cinco de mayo! Wait staff was excellent… i was greated with friendly smiles and great attentivness from everyone on staff. Got a peice of dessert to go which was to die for! Cant wait to come back!

What happened? I used to love this place — homey and really decent food. But recently things have gone south and my last few visits the food has been lousy. (I mean, honestly, how is it even possible to make a chicken club flavorless?) Several other dishes were really salt heavy.
This is my local spot so I’m sad to see this happen. Apparently it’s the same owner but new management and I don’t know if this is the reason. But looking at the «new» menu it seems they are trying to be something they’re not. They should go back to what they do best — Greek dishes, sandwiches, breakfast. I really hope they can turn it around. (The waitstaff and those fantastic desserts are still great — it’s just the food that’s changed.)

Hidden gem tucked off the Hartford rd. There isn’t much to rave about in this area but the sunshine grill is a nice treat. They have a surprisingly good beer selection. Baked cakes and pies and good food. It’s not big but they make the best of it.
