The food is tasty enough and a good value for the money. Service is quick. I do not care for the dirty floors that make the place look unsavory. The floor is always dirty when I go there, and this is the only restaurant in my memory like this. Is the floor dirty in the kitchen? Are the counters also dirty? Don’t know. In the other review here Nina says that few fast food restaurants have stood the test of time. She must be young because most of them have stood the test of time including Long John Silvers.

I love Long Johns. I’m not a big fan of fish, especially fish that smells and tastes overly fishy. I love Long Johns though. Classic Fish & Chips kinda of good. I wish their fries were better — more like English chips. The fish, schrimp and hush puppies are excellent. The restaurant is clean. Service is good. It takes some time to prepare, but food is always nice and hot.

I have not been to a Long John Silver’s in more than a decade, but here we were on a Metra/CTA railfan trip on Labor Day and it was lunchtime. We had just left the CTA Green Line Terminal at Harlem Avenue and were about to walk a mile to the Blue Line Station next to the Eisenhower Expressway. Heading south we soon saw the yellow and blue building colors of the Long John Silver’s. Entering we were warmly greeted by Ja’lin at the Ordering Counter. Not knowing what we wanted she took the time to almost totally explain the large menu hanging behind her. We were impressed and I told John her manager. I ordered the Popcorn Shrimp with french fries and two baby Hush Puppies for $ 5.49, adding«the never ending drink» for just another dollar. Bob decided on the two-piece fish with coleslaw for a dollar less and added the Onion Rings special for just 49 cents. My Popcorn Shrimp was better then expected, all 20 of them quickly disappeared. Too bad they weren’t bigger. The french fries were also very good. Even the Diet Pepsi actually tasted like Diet Pepsi despite coming from a «pop machine.» Bob’s fish was both large and tasty and the coleslaw was better than average. The problem was with his Onion Rings. They were almost all breading and little onion. Too bad, I was hoping for one but they kept falling apart. Over all, we would go back to Long John Silver’s. This location had above average staff and appeared spotless. Even so, I suggest the District Office invest in an update of the dining room. It needs a 21st Century appearance.

I love the food @LJS, whenever, wherever. The staff at this location are friendly. The drawback to this location, is the condition of the dining room. Needs a makeover. Until then, drive thru, only!

I am a huge fan of the chicken planks here– there are very few Long John Silvers locations these days so was so excited to pass by this one coming home from Oak Park. I went through the drive thru and it felt like a pretty long wait, but the food was hot and just like I remembered it. Something about the chicken planks paired with Dr. Pepper makes me very happy and takes me back to my childhood. They have great sides too– try the coleslaw!

There are not very many fast food restaurants that have withstood the test of time, however, Long John SIlver is still hanging in there for over forty years — that’s pretty good given that they exclusively sell fast seafood. I remember going to one of their restaurants years and years ago. I thought they were tasty, but never really thought of seafood when it came to fast food. Then I went vegetarian, then veggies and seafood and poultry,(no, I’m not going back to beef or pork). I have been a bit of a seafood snob, however, one day last year I didn’t have the energy to drive to Chicago’s Little Village to Troha’s but wanted seafood, so I turned into this lone beacon of the deep blue sea… Now after several visits, I must comment about my latest… Given the price and the convenient location not to mention the pleasant service — when I’m just too beat to go the distance for Troha’s, I will indeed go to this little eatery that is worth the stop. I’ve only gone through their drive-thru, but have received excellent service and today from a young lady who speaks with such clarity and was so, so, happy sounding,(she should be in broadcasting — she’s got a great voice — I just had to tell her so). The seafood has been a tad greasier than I like, but okay. I’ve usually have gone late at night, and had no wait — which made me a little worried about the freshness, but everything was fine. Today, there were several cars in the parking lot and people walking in and out and my wait still wasn’t long… And the window young lady(the one with the great voice), gave me a coupon! Good work Long John Silver — given the state of affairs of our nation — I pray you’ll be around for another 40 years.

as a kid, during Lent mom and I went here. That may color my perception. The fish is good, they are friendly and it is a deal for the money. Though I find the menu confusing. Really, a great value for the money!

Quick, fast, and easy fish. The food was tasty for what it is. The staff friendly and talkative. I even rang the bell when I walked out.
