It’s just not a five star place anymore. There used to be a warmer vibe at the bar, but the last couple times I went there, for the most part it was service only, no conversation. The last time I was at the bar to order dinner, I didn’t get any bread with my order and Jimmy was behind the bar himself — those things never used to get past him. Awhile ago I went with my friends family to celebrate a couple of birthdays, including his. They’ve always loved the place but also noticed some changes. Two of the entrees were delayed in getting to the table. The usual attentiveness was lacking. Some of the food went uneaten and was left rather than taken home. It’s too bad — when they’re on, the food is good and the service is as well, but that seems to be more seldom nowadays. A little pricier than what I would expect for a «laid back place». I’m being generous at four stars right now, but given my overall history at the place, I’ll hold off before going down to three stars — we’ll see after another visit or two at some point.

Nice friendly bar/restaurant. Food is ok but the bread they bring to the table if it’s fresh and hot is sooo delicious . Cool bar and good for light food

This is your casual diner with a bar. Lots of room to host a party or some kind of big event. Very casual as well as when we got there, we were told to sit whereever we want. my husband and I were waiting at the front door for awhile to be seated and one of the customers just told us to sit anywhere. We were like OH! thought we need a hostess to seat us. Oops. They have pizza, pasta, sandwiches, all types of choices. My husband and I started with mozzarella sticks as appetizers. I haven’t had them in a long time and they were pretty good. My husband ordered one of their pasta which I forgot. He thought it was too saucy for his liking. I forgot what I ordered… We encountered a funny incident. Both my husband and I look really young… like we’re in our teens, so our waitress treated us pretty much like teens. We are actually 30 yrs old, but look half our age. When my husband ordered a beer, the waitress took a long time looking at his ID and she couldnt believe his age. So afterward she looked at his ID, our service got much better! She was so nice to us and greeted us as we left. We found it amusing.

My son and I ate here on a cold December night. The Minestrone and bread were a promising start and we both enjoyed the generous portions of pasta. For us the best part was the feel of an authentic«neighborhood gathering place», that was cemented when the bartender called for help celebrating a birthday and the entire dining room joined in with an enthusiastic chorus of Happy Birthday”.

We ordered stuffed mushrooms which where stuffed with something mysterious oily and not flavorful. The main cousres where meatballs in marinara and ravioli both underwhelming. The marinara seemed to come from a large can of tomato paste from Costco. We should have saved are selves the $ 90. They have gone down hill over the years.

I have been here twice and was pleased both times. I only have one complaint about the food, see below. I have been here one weeknights both times. I am really sad because I can’t remember what I got the first time, but I remember I enjoyed it and had a nice time. Fast forward to my visit last week that I remember a little better. I met two of my friends and one of their little ones. We were in the side room, which was perfect with a little one. Our server was very nice. We started with the antipasto salad, it was really good. I would get that again next visit. Then we ordered a pizza to share. All sausage w/half pepperoni and spinach. it was really good. I liked the crust quite a bit. My only complain is the spinach… it was cumpy on the pizza and mushy and watery. I really enjoy fresh spinach on a pizza, this tasted either frozen and not properly thawed and strained or from a can. Either way it was yucky. I should have asked ahead of time if it was fresh spinach, instead of assuming. We ordered a piece of cook dough ice cream pie, because it was Mickey Mouse’s birthday and our little dinner table guested wanted to blow out a candle. I didn’t try it but everyone at the table really liked it and it looked good, it’s just not my type of thing. I definitely recommend Jimmy’s and want to go back and try some of the non pizza dishes to get a better feel for the menu. But definitely try the antipasto salad and pizza sans spinach.

I have had Cavatelli at many Italian restaurants, and Jimmy’s Place is by far the best. Not only this, but the atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff is extremely attentive. This is definitely a place I will be heading back to!

Went in last night for a friends birthday. On a Friday night I was impressed that they held a table for us EVEN when we were running late. They are always generous with their drink portions, the food was very good & I always find it nice when an owner comes to the tables & mingles with his customers. We will return:)

I can’t say enough great things about Jimmy’s! We had a party for 100 people and had such a wonderful experience. The owner, Jimmy, was super helpful with ordering food and reserving the side room for such a large party. I did some research on other restaurants in the area and realized they were much more expensive with lower quality of food. The pizza, pasta, chicken, desserts… I can go on and on! The food was delicious. Great wait staff as well. Next party, I will not hesitate to call Jimmy.

There are a few places I crave when I go home, but when I’m there I head straight to Jimmy’s for pizza and pasta. Not only is the food great but it’s nice to see familiar faces and have a relaxed neighborhood ambiance. A true family run restaurant with jimmy behind the bar and his family in the kitchen and serving. Highly recommend it!

Jimmy’s Place is a very solid restaurant in welcoming Forest Park. I’ve been to Jimmy’s Place a few times and it’s a friendly, fun atmosphere. It’s usually crowded(unless you’re there really early!), and the food is good. Service has always been friendly and this time, we had an order for us(dining in) as well as a take out order. This was no issue and the timing was perfect. We also changed our dine in order a few times and the server didn’t seem annoyed at all. It’s bright and feels very homey. I usually have pizza of some sort, but this time, I tried the meatball sandwich — huge and tasty. I liked that the sauce was really soaked up by the bread, though I think I would have preferred three smaller meatballs vs two huge ones, but I made it through both! Reasonably priced, tasty food, a fun atmosphere(and very kid friendly if you’re looking for that)…

My girlfriend called me up this evening crying that her boss Jimmy(the owner) was screaming in her face. She said she felt threatened. Other employees were in shock and even crying for her. This isn’t the first time this has happened. If you eat here, you condone Jimmy’s actions. I hope he sees this. I’ll see him when I get the chance. Food isn’t bad though.

I never even got a chance to try the food because the customer service and business management of the owner was so bad. The WORST part of it all was that my credit card was still charged $ 200WITHOUT my authorization. My initial intention was to have a party of about 45 guests at Jimmy’s. However, Jimmy was so rude and provided negative rebuttals to my general questions about parking, decorations and the deposit that I changed my mind. He actually told one of his waitresses to help some customers because he had to «deal with this lady and her questions.» Even though both he and his cashier were told that I no longer wanted to have the party there, they STILL charged my card. They didn’t apologize at all. I called the restaurant the night my card was charged, but I didn’t receive a refund until after 6 days, insistent calling and involvement of the Forest Park Police and the BBB. He’s was so disgustingly mean to me as if it was my fault the card had been charged. He blamed his cashier, but he didn’t offer any kind of compensation or apology for the problems he caused me. He’s a vindictive crook and a fraud. Please read all the comments here to get an understanding of this business before you venture there. When it comes to big parties, Groupon or any other non-standard transactions, the owner is clueless and outdated. Jimmy’s: It’s not his food that’s old-fashioned; it’s his business style. In case you’re interested, here are the questions: Q: Can we bring in outside cake? A: I guess so, but I have desserts here that you can order. That would make more sense. Q: Can we decorate the restaurant for the party? A: Listen, I don’t want any confetti or glittery stuff at my restaurant. Q: Is there adequate parking for 45 guests? A: I have 400 guests a night, and they figure out where to park. This isn’t hard. I just charge your card and you show up. I don’t have time for questions; it’s a busy. Q: Is there a more appropriate time when I could call? A: I don’t understand why you have these questions. Like I said, it should be Jimmy’s: It’s not his food that’s old-fashioned; it’s his business style.

The pizza is all I’ve had and delivered only. This is the worst delivery ever. The place is .5 miles from me and it’s over an hour for a thin crust and my order has been wrong too. In this neighborhood with so many great options this place is a joke. It’s a shame because the pizza tastes good but it’s the worst phone and delivery service I’ve ever experienced so just can’t do it anymore.

Jimmy’s has great food and our kid’s love their pizza, but we recently experienced a major dissatisfaction with our latest delivery order that left us with a pretty sour impression. Placed a delivery order on 5⁄10 and after an hour, my wife called to check to see if they had the right address. The girl on the phone said that the driver is on the way and that the food will be there any time now. An hour and 20 mins later, my wife calls back and got the same song and dance from the girl on the phone about the driver isn’t there and is on his way. At this point, my kids are starving, my wife is pissed off, so I call Jimmy’s and talk to the girl on the phone. I explained to her that we have ordered many times from Jimmy’s and that this is very unusual. She said didn’t offer any apology and gave me the party line of the driver will be there asap. Not good enough. I asked to speak to the manager. I believe I spoke to Jimmy himself and he was very apologetic and admitted that he only had one delivery driver for the night and that it was his fault. He offered to comp our meal and refund our credit card or comp us for our next meal for our inconvenience. I took him up on his offer and accepted the credit card refund. After waiting a ridiculous TWO whole hours, our delivery order arrived. Great food as always. 10 days later, I checked our credit card online and look for the refund from Jimmy’s. Nada… Zilch…Nothing. It’s too bad, because Jimmy’s was on our usual list of «go-to» joints. Customer service means a lot to me and not getting a refund as promised by the owner himself speaks volumes.

Every town needs a place like Jimmy’s! Solid Souther Italian fare including a really good, thin crust pizza. As other have said, their red sauce(I mean gravy Ma!) is outstanding. Lots of depth with the flavor like it simmered on the stove all day. I’m not a big meatball fan. I don’t know why cuz food shaped like a ball sure is fun but Jimmy’s meatballs I love. They are tender and not much filler if any. I too enjoy their salad and the dressing. Some day I’m going to come here and just get their salad and some bread… and some coctails. Speaking of cocktails, Jimmy knows them well. Service is old school. You can tell the staff has been there a while and they act like family. Good place, go there.

I love the place… me and my girlfriend went using a Groupon just to check out something new! All was good. We ordered pizza with side salads. The pizza was very delicious and so flavorful and the salad was really good with extremely fresh black olives! All the employees were very nice and our waitress wasn’t annoying which means she didn’t stop by every minute but just enough to make sure we were fine! We really enjoyed the drinks… Cosmo and Apple martini… there is bar area too which we have decided to visit again when we are in need of great alcohol! We will be going back! The above was about a year go and I STILLGOANDSTILLLOVEIT! Visited tonight and they were extremely busy . Although no one acknowledged us for the first 20 something minutes the great waitress and awesome food made up for it! I will continue to come here because I alway leave satisfied!

You walk into a killer ambience. Its like an old Italian restaurant meets neighborhood bar. The décor the feel and the food are all really genuine. I watched the guy behind the bar, who was being referred to as «Jimmy» greet and say thanks and goodbye to everyone. He knew the names of most of the people. It was something to watch. The only thing they lose a fraction of the star for is affordability. Its just a little steep on the prices — but not overpriced. Very on the ball, but just not a place you can go to a lot because it cost about $ 50 for two people to have a nice dinner.
