About a week ago (said in my best bobby shmurda voice) my 4 year old French Bulldog, Ladybug, was diagnosed with lymphoma. Within days of her diagnosis she became very ill; vomiting, having seizures, unable to walk, sometimes I was even unable to wake her from a sleep. I called my primary vet (also very good, Glendale Vet clinic) and they suggested I bring her to an oncologist, Dr. Lachowicz, at BluePearl. I was really scared, as I had a lot of experience with cancer in my family and my little ladybug means so much to me. Dr. Lachowicz was willing to see me almost immediately. Upon arrival, the location was very clean and I was greeted with a big hello and Ladybug received some love as well. My appointment started on time (which is RARE with most vets, am I right?) and Dr. Lachowicz spent over an hour explaining every option I had, potential side effects, cancer, her prognosis, etc. Within this hour, Dr. Lachowicz allowed me to ask a million and one questions and answered each with ease and understanding. He did not seem rushed and understood that all of this was a lot to take in. Meanwhile, Dr. Lachowicz was petting Ladybug and handing me tissues for my ugly crying. Dr. Lachowicz gave me some time to make my decision on next steps and then gave me additional information regarding cancer in dogs to read up on. I left feeling completely at ease.
It doesn’t end there… let me tell you…
Dr. Lachowicz called me a few days later to check up on Ladybug! He spoke with me for a few minutes over the phone and I couldn’t speak more highly of him.
Lastly, today I brought Ladybug in for her weekly treatment. I dropped her off around 5:30am and the man there (I wish I knew his name) was so sweet. He pet Ladybug, greeted me nicely in the morning, and smiled when I embarrassingly handed him far too many things that she probably won’t need (food, treats, a coat, blanket, etc– I’m a crazy dog-​mom!) for the day.

Very nice n friendly staff. Clean enviroment. Fast no wait time. Best of all 24 hr service. I was terrified when my baby had bloody stool n became so sick. I took her then n they help my baby recover. N she’s all better.

Courteous and professional staff here at BluePearl in Queens. One late night my poor dog hurt her leg and was crying. I immediately searched for an emergency vet on Unilocal and this establishment popped up with good reviews. We drove over at 9pm and was quickly helped by the staff there who gave my dog pain medication and an X-​ray (after agreeing to the the consultation fee). It turns out my dog dislocated her hip and we were advised she should get surgery. We kept my dog boarded there for the night so the staff could keep an eye on her and take her in for surgery first thing next morning. They even let us in through the back to see where she would be staying.
Overall had a good experience with the doctors and staff here. They kept me well informed through out the whole process and explained each and every step and medication they were going to use. When picking up my dog they gave me a detailed report of how to follow up and take care of my dog. They even gave me a blanket and extra dog food since I was on the go.
Took off a star because the wait time can be pretty long (over 30 mins) and the prices are steep. Advice… Get pet insurance!!!

I was there earlier this year to euthanize my dog. The staff was superb and I had a great experience considering the tough situation I was in. I highly recommend them.

Honestly this place gave my cat stanley the best treatment i could ask for. Round the clock care, extremely thorough. Always calling to check in with us and let us know how hes doing. My cat was at deaths door and they brought him back to 100% health. They were so clear in discussing all the options with me. I cant imagine having gotten better or more thorough care anywhere else. It is pricey, which is why i gave it 4 stars instead of 5, but you get what you pay for. This facility is top notch.

In August my dog was diagnosed with two torn cruciate ligaments.
Our regular vet recommended that we consult with Blue Pearl to learn more about surgery options.
We were able to get an appointment right away with the surgeon — Dr. Levy, who went through multiple options varying in price. He explained things very well and answered any questions we had.
Because we had pet insurance which covered 90%, we were able to go with the recommended and less invasive route — arthroscopic TTA surgery — which would amount to a total of about $ 16,000 for both legs.
The facilities themselves are very clean, the staff is super friendly and Dr. Levy was fantastic.
He communicated with us before and after each of her (2) surgeries and answered any questions we had. We were able to call and get an update any time we wanted while she was hospitalized, which definitely helped ease our mind.
There’s no doubt that Blue Pearl is expensive — it’s a 24 hour veterinary hospital.
I definitely recommend getting pet insurance for your pets, as it really allows you to get the best care for your pet, without having to stress out about the cost.
We were very impressed with the facilities and service we received and highly recommend Dr. Levy and Blue Pearl.

A big thank you to Carolina, Celenia and Dr LaPorte! Even with me working for a veterinarian they were able to calm me down. My poor baby sliced his paw on a glass dish I dropped while cooking dinner and they fixed him up for the night! Quick bandage and some medicine, he’s good for now. Thanks again!

Do not go here unless it is an emergency and you have no other choice. Cold as ice is the staff with not one compassionate word for me – and the prices are exorbitant — how disgraceful that they take advantage of people who have already paid thousands in vet bills. They had not one kind word to say to me; same for me of them. Find a vet or hospital with a little more caring attitude.

I am a huge animal lover so it’s unfortunate to write a negative review about an animal hospital. From the front desk service to the vet service, it was cold and salesey. The receptionist didn’t even say hello, just stared at me until i said something. Weird. The vet said my cat had to stay in the hospital 2 – 3 days due to urinary blockage. Long story short, I went to animal medical center in NYC that same night and the vet was able to confirm there was not a blockage, he was able to get a flow of urine so we went home with pain killers and meds got his bladder. Urinalysis in progress. The next day, we visited our regular vet to make sure, he was okay. When I have good service and care, the amount a facility charges is not an issue even if it’s expensive. Save yourself time and go to animal medical center.

This place is horrible. Every review is right– Blue Pearl only cares about collecting your money because they know we’re willing to spend everything on our animals. They were very lucky that this was the only place closest to us. To see the doctor for ten minutes was alone $ 150

I am so grateful that Blue Pearl is close to me! Their care, treatment, and compassion are unrivaled, from the receptionists all the way to the doctors. Pet emergencies are never pleasant, but the entire staff here treats you and your pet like you are family. They really support you through what is usually a very stressful and emotional time. I’ve never had anything less than a stellar experience with Blue Pearl, and I will continue to recommend them to all my pet owning friends.

For those people whose pets — and by extension themselves — have been victims of these money-​making killers at Blue Pearl in Forest Hills — who have any stories of how their pets were killed by these incompetent soci0paths, please write to me. I have been in touch with two local newspapers who are interested in doing a story on vet horrors. However, they want numbers. The more people willing to come forward and tell of their horrible experience at the hands of these murderers will help get a story published. Please write to me. Sitting here and writing about the horrors are fine. But doing something is the only way to shake these devils up from the clouds that they walk on and the immunity that they feel they have.
Again, please write to me. There is power in numbers. Let your credit card company know what they are. Contact your local newspaper. Let us organize against them. Hit them in their pockets and make it known just how callous, incompetent and sadistic that they are.

If I can give no stars I would
My dog, Kiwi, has diabetes for about six months and we’ve been going to numerous veterinarians to work on getting him better. In time we noticed his case was only getting worse and were told we should see a specialist. We were told a good place to start would be Blue Pearl Vet and to see Dr. Adam Eatroff to see what he can do to help him.
We met with Dr. Adam and he examines Kiwi. The Doctor tells us that we need to lower the insulin level which may be too high for Kiwi as of current (making him more sick). He said that we need to lower it and be consistent with it. We paid $ 1500 for the visit (just for the blood work and a check-​up) and followed the doctors orders for 1 month. After the month was over, the symptoms remained the same. We called Dr. Adam and he said we’d have to perform a «curve,» (a test of the blood for sugar levels every 2 hours for approximately 1 day) as this is the only way to proceed at this time. He informed us that the curve would cost a little over $ 400. I told him that we got a second opinion from a second vet who told us that the curve would cost $ 80. At this point i’ve already paid approximately $ 5K towards Kiwi’s medical needs in the last couple of months and I couldn’t afford a $ 400 curve (especially given the fact that a curve needs to be performed on multiple occasions… it’s not a one time deal). So I asked Dr. Adam to kindly fill in the other vet with Kiwi’s medical records so we could perform the curve at the new vet and then we’d bring the results back to Blue Pearl Vet for further exaimination. Dr Adam agrees and we perform the curve. The results are horrible and the new vet told me to raise the insulin because it’s too low. We do this and still no change.
In the interim i’m calling Dr. Adam for days only to find no response. I leave multiple messages at the Blue Pearl Vet only to be told he was on vacation and that he’d call me back when he returns (what kind of response is that!!!). I consistently tried to call him and never heard back from him. So we perform another curve only to find out that the insulin is still too low and we need to raise the insulin once more.
We decide to try contacting Dr. Adam once more before raising the insulin again because we wanted a specialists opinion. For approximately a one week period we try to contact Dr. Adam and we don’t hear anything from him. Eventually he calls us and we explain to him the situation and that we need his expertise. His response is «why don’t you do whatever Kurt (the other doctor) told you to do.» So I told him nicely that we agreed I’d do the curve at Kurt because I couldn’t afford to perform the curve at Blue Pearl Vet and that he would obtain the results and work with us based on Kurt’s results of the curve exam. Now he said «No, go do it with Dr. Kurt.» He didn’t care to help us and was more occupied with arguing with everything we said then actually caring for my dogs well being. It’s obvious that Blue Pearl Vet and Dr. Adam ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY. They don’t care about the animals at all. He told me to «MAKE AN APPOINTMENT» to come into his office. I’m speaking to him on the phone, why would I call to make an appointment!!! So he can charge me for stepping through the doors of the Blue Pearl Vet center? A complete and utter scam.
To top it all off, my dog has a gull-​bladder issue and Dr. Adam prescribed him pills which were soon to finish. I told Dr. Adam that I need him to fill a new script for the pills and his response was «Why don’t you go get it from Kurt!» THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. THERE IS NO REASON FOR SUCH BEHAVIOR OR SERVICE. He is a vet and should care about the well being of ALL animals. I’m sorry I can’t afford your prices but you have to work with me. I wasn’t asking for any handouts and I most certainly don’t need anyone giving me attitude when all I’m doing is trying to care for my sick and ailing dog.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. They’re bad for your animals and they’re just going to clean your bank account and cause you more stress. STREER CLEAR AT ALL COSTS!

Five stars for the medical service I received. No stars for the receptionist. The medical service was great. The nurse was caring, compassionate, and really loved animals. I went in for emergency service but they told me it would be more cost effective if I visited the manhattan office tomorrow to get tests done there. The nurse even made the appointment for me and then wrapped my medical records in plastic so they wouldn’t get wet in the snow. Just really great service. Very clean facilities. I would have no problem leaving my cat here overnight.

All day my westie has had bloody projectile diarrhea and vomiting. We waited it out to see if he felt better but he only got worse. By the time we decided he needed to visit a vet, his vet was already closed. I have heard about BluePearl and decided it was urgent enough that we should visit. When we arrived they were very quick to attend us, we let them know that last month he has Giardia and was scheduled for a check-​up. These were the same symptoms as last month so we assumed it was Giardia.
They did a blood work and X-​Rays, they did not check for Giardia. They wanted to keep him over night yet did not say what was the cause of his symptoms. I will say, our veterinarian Dr. Chase, was very reassuring. The only thing I will say that I do not like is the fact that I spent over 1,000 in vet bills for no one to tell me what was wrong with my dog.
If you decide to take your pet here, please make sure you know what to say. I was preoccupied with knowing what was wrong with him that I forgot to ask why aren’t you testing for different things.

Our previously healthy 14 year old cat had an episode where he lost bladder/​bowl control. We called our vet who recommended Blue Pearl. We brought him in and it looked like a reasonable place. They checked him and and told us they had to do diagnostics on him. Over the next three days they called multiple times telling us that they had to do additional test and asked if we would authorize them. The costs rose quickly. By Day 3, the costs were over $ 7,000! They told us that he was having small strokes and recommended several medications. We told them that we couldn’t continue to pay for additional tests. They discharged him to us and when we picked him up, he was completely stressed, with tons of dandruff and he was absolutely starving! He ate three chicken breasts when we got him home in a way that suggested to me that he hadn’t been fed. Within an hour he had another episode and then proceeded to have multiple episodes within the first day home. We called our vet to come and put him to sleep because he was suffering. Our vet suggested that he was having seizures (not strokes) and suggested that we put him on anti-​convulsants. We got the anti-​convulsant meds and started him on them, but he was still having seizures, so we scheduled a time to put him down. By, the time the vet got to our place, he was doing better and we couldn’t catch him!
Turns out that Blue Pearl completely misdiagnosed him with mini-​strokes instead of seizures. So, not only were we out over $ 7,000, but we didn’t even have a correct diagnosis or course of treatment.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

We arrived here around 11pm after we realized my 5 month old chihuahua had eaten a dangerously large amount of rat poison when she was unsupervised. My father and I were clearly nervous but as soon as they saw us enter, they took her straight to the back to be treated along with a sample of what she had consumed. The receptionist explained to us the process, options in case something more critical occurred and an estimate in case she needed a surgery which she thankfully did not need.
Dr. Cornel attended her and was very patient and calming. She explained to us what could have happened and also her treatment which was vitamin k and was also given to us on the spot. It overall cost around $ 200 but it was after all emergency care. We are just thankful they were available and very happy and pleased with the treatment she received.

Beware. I had a very bad experience here twice. My cat passed away during a routine check-​up with the cardiologist in Dec 2012. I took him in to monitor his heart, that morning he was eating and behaving normally. I regret to this day that I took him there. My Mom brought her dog for tests. the poor dog got home that day and started having horrible seizures which she never had before. After a couple months of suffering we had to put her to sleep .I really wonder how many people this happened to because I found out that lousy doctor is no longer there… and its true what I read in the reviews… they try to talk you into different tests. I am still haunted about losing my pets at the hands of a lousy dr This place does not deserve 1 star. it deserves 0

I have had my puppy for 4 days only and he got really sick really quickly. My husband and I rushed him here and I am glad we did. Have to be honest wasn’t fussed on the nurses but maybe that’s because I was so worried. The vet was fantastic and talked me through everything.
I would recommend this hospital to anyone. They took great care of my little man. They ARE expensive BUT they take you through the billing process and prices thoroughly. Could not have been happier.

I came here on a very frightening day when my dog was vomiting blood. We had visited a vet before this that wasn’t equipped to do what was needed and thus we ended up here.
No one wants to end up at the ER, but when the worst happens, I’m glad this place is available. As soon as I arrived, the staff was very attentive. I was met right away with help. Communication is very important when you’re dealing with an emergency if for anything but to calm a distressed pet owner. I felt very comfortable with this staff right away.
The nurse who began the examination was quick, communicative, and very personable.
After the nurse did the preliminary exam, Dr. Jong came in to perform the actual exam. She was very thorough in explaining the options. She was not alarmist and, similar to the rest of staff, kept me at ease in a very stressful situation. After she performed the diagnostic tests, she came back to speak with me and tell me about the next steps. I felt fully confident in what she was telling me and in her report. She was very thorough.
I would highly recommend this ER. Unfortunately, I’ve seen several since having my dog and this, by far, is the best experience I’ve had. I will definitely recommend this place to others and will keep it in mind if I should ever have an emergency again.
