Gene’s Bar & Restaurant

This is my Dad’s favorite spot and I can see why. They have great shrimp and good drinks. Play a game of pool and relax. The prices are very affordable and the service is great! I’ll definitely be back here soon.

Went there last Thursday for shrimp and beer. $ 17 gets you a pound of shrimp and 4 beers. (note was told if you didn’t want the 4 beers and just a soda it was about the same price)
Dint get me wrong, the shrimp were good and it’s well worth the price. However the service was so bad I gave it a 1 star and would have made it ½ star if it was possible.
I don’t necessarily blame the waitress as she was running ragged and was playing the role of cashier too. However, after we were seated we waited 20 minutes for her to come back for our order. Keep in mind everyone in there was only ordering the shrimp and beer. After the steaming hot shrimp came out and we were finished with our first round of beers by then, we could not get her attention to come back to get another round of beer. So we sat there for another 20 minutes until we went and found her behind the cash register that we needed more drinks. If there was a second waitress we didn’t see her.
It was a disaster and sadly we won’t go back. Sad because we prefer to support local businesses.
I blame management for not providing more staff. We’ve been here before and it’s always like this on Thursdays. Fresh.
Lastly. You don’t want to use their restrooms either. Enough said.

I have been coming here since a kid. Yes us locals would call this a «gem» Any food establishment that has it’s parking lot full from breakfast to bar closing time is doing well in my opinion. This is a classic example of why you don’t judge a book by the cover. Signature dishes here include; steamed shrimp; seafood, and there famous homemade burger!

There’s a reason the locals keep this place a secret and its not because its a «gem»…

This is that secret dive where steaks hang off the plate and cost 14 bucks. The locals keep this as their little hidden gem.
