Of course this is five stars because it is as good as it gets for what it is. It’s your so-called cylindrical void in the wall, not a polished corporate chain location. The building is 130 years old and visually interesting for it but marred by a few modern Home Depot doors. Yet food-wise, I was totally impressed. This wasn’t my first choice, either, but it should have been. The town of Fonda is so dead(or dying) that every other restaurant I looked up on Unilocal in this area was gone.(Excepting McDonald’s.) I ordered the general tso’s chicken and the beef with broccoli. How many times have you ordered beef at a place like this and rolled your eyes on the first bite because you knew the beef wasn’t fresh? NOTHERE. Everything was fresh. And the flavors were right. Especially with the rice. It was bejeweled with fresh onions and scallions, which were a nice touch, but most importantly, flavored with the smoke of a proper wok! An excellent experience and the place deserves more business.

Ended up here a few months ago as the Johnstown restaurant was crowded and I’m so glad we did. Have been coming ever since. I usually order General Tso’s tofu, and it’s unbelievably good. Comes with rice and the greenest broccoli I’ve ever seen. I just can’t stop eating the stuff. Eggrolls are delicious, too. This place is warm & cozy on a winter’s evening. They even have containers for your leftovers out where you can grab one when you’re finished. Super delicious.

I’ve ordered here a few times and each time the food is good. I prefer the shop in amsterdam near price chopper but when I’m near fonda I come here. Overall I liked the food but the prices seem higher than most in the area.

We found this place while doing a long distance drive. We were very happy with the speed of delivery and reasonable price — but most surprising for a «take out» style restaurant the food was excellent. Highly recommended. Close to the highway, about 40 miles W of Albany on the Thruway.

We found this little restaurant by accident and I’m so glad we did. They have amazing food — better than any I’ve had in Albany or Schenectady. The chicken & broccoli is delicious, lots of white chicken meat and crisp, fresh broccoli. Wonton soup is very tasty and the fried dumplings are a must! Hard to believe something so good is in such a small town — but hey, stranger things have happened.

I have to tell it like it is! Fonda NY has a population of about 20 people :-). A major state road cuts through town. This has resulted in a few restaurants. Peking is a great Chinese restaurant. It’s shocking that something so good resides in such a small town!

While passing through Fonda on a recent drive, I stopped for lunch takeout at New Peking,(parking in front along street) located across the street from Cumberland Farms. The other location is in Gloversville. This casual Chinese restaurant offers takeout counter service(open kitchen) and there is ample table seating(10 tables/4 seats each). The menu includes the standard Chinese American offerings including Cantonese, Hunan, and Szechuan dishes and many Chef’s Specials. Eggplant with Garlic Sauce and Crispy Shrimp with Walnut are on the menu! They also have a few Thai dishes(curry dishes, pad thai noodles) and a diet menu, and Most menu items are priced under $ 12. 46 Lunch Specials($ 5.95-$ 7.25) served(daily until 3PM) with pork fried rice and choice of soup, egg roll, or soda are offered here. 36 Special Combination Plates($ 7.75-$ 9.25) served with pork fried rice and egg roll are also offered. For lunch takeout, I ordered the #42 Shrimp & Eggplant with Garlic Sauce($ 6.95 plus tax) served with pork fried rice and soup(I got hot & sour soup). The food was ready to go in under 10 minutes. The portion of food was generous, packed good into a round microwavable container, soup in a separate styrofoam bowl and crispy rice noodles/fortune cookie, The main dish had plenty of soft Chinese eggplant and tender shrimp(cleaned) in a thick sweet and spicy garlic sauce. The fried rice(light yellow color) was very simple and had a firm texture with a mix of roast pork, scallion, and onion. The hot & sour soup was quite good, which had a very spicy flavored broth with roast pork strips, soft tofu, bamboo, mushrooms, & onions. Overall, I enjoyed the food I could eat for my lunch since there was more than enough leftovers for dinner.
