Batteries Plus. What can you say, they’re probably THE place to go if you need a battery and you need it now. Unfortunately, you’ll be paying a very high markup for a battery that may have been sitting on a shelf for a year, and there’s still enough variety in batteries that they might not have what you need. You’re far better off locating what you need on-line from a vendor that’s moving these things on a large scale. I’ve seen sealed lead acid batteries on shelves with datecodes 15 to 18 months old, and voltages to match. SLA batteries typically need to be topped up every 4 to 6 months in order to avoid sulfation, a condition that permanently reduces the capacity of the battery and ultimately destroys it. For an educated consumer, Batteries Plus is a resource, a place to acquire batteries in a crisis at a premium cost. Educate yourself before you go about the battery technology you’re buying, and don’t let them talk you into buying something that’s stale or questionable.
