Others will find hard to believe what I am about to say. I just hope that Unilocal algorithm does not consider my review as a «filter». Well, I had a wonderful time sitting in the Wine Gallery, staring and admiring the paintings on the wall throughout the establishment. Lots of local artists and quite good, I might ad. Anyhow, I am a Physical Therapist traveling on the Western States alongside with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. As they go to the local theater for rehearsals, I stay back and enjoy the local villages, the towns or the cities culture and it’s people. One special moment I had and the most wonderful time was in Petra, The Wine Gallery. Yvonne is a doll, a true angel. I spent my last 2 hours of closing time drinking her white wine(from her very own vineyard). I was completely satisfied drinking white wine and learning more about Yvonne and her” mom and pop” company. Try out this local authentic wine establishment if you wanna escape from the corporate wine bars. Just sit and relax or heck, if you care, talk to Yvonne. She’s got some story to share… Best to Petra, The Wine Gallery and to Yvonne. Cheers!

This place is an absolute gem! The art work on the wall was just the tip of the iceberg! It has a very welcoming atmosphere. It literally feels like you are in the owners home and she is an amazingly intelligent woman. She makes the wine they offer and it is fantastic! I am going to be coming back here not just to purchase wine but also to enjoy her company. She also offers poetry nights and food and wine pairing nights where she shows you how to prepare the meals! Love it!

The new owners are awesome! New people bought the business in August of 2011. Folsom is a bastion of small town goodness, and Yvonne, the Wine Gallery’s owner, is intelligent, worldly, and a lovely person to have a glass of wine with. There are walls of dynamic art by local artists, mostly priced under $ 250. Always something interesting to look at~ The wine was $ 7.50/glass, tasty & is produced just up the road in Rescue. The Merlot was pretty nice. It was a happy accident to find this place. You can definitely meander down Sutter St. after having a few tastings or end up here after wandering around all afternoon. (The wine might have contributed to the run-on sentences.)

I would say the first and foremost this is an art gallery then a wine bar second. The entire front part of the store is covered with works from local artists. Limited wine selection. Recommend going for the art.

If you like art and wine, check out The Wine Gallery on Sutter Street across from Chicago Fire! This is the tasting room for Procissi Cellars wines and they have also made it into an art gallery. I have been here before about a year or so ago, so this was the second time going. I actually really liked their wine. Their cab and petite sirah where both very good.

I just didn’t understand it. I was so excited to finally have wine tastings at my hometown. I came here during the street fair. I was poured by Wayne himself and he was first off-putting and then just rude. I went through the tasting and asked for a dump bucket. He made a snide comment and handed me the bucket. Then my second tasting I noticed that he took the dump bucket away. I had to ask again and then get the third degree. Are we not encouraging responsible drinking? I’m sorry… I had to drive. I thought it might be me until he was rude to a family also tasting. He pretty much yelled at them about skipping the whites. I understand encouraging people to try new things. But pure bullying. I have never had an experience like that. I left with a Merlot and later second guessed why I supported this business.

The Wine Gallery is now run by just one couple and shared by a group of local artists. Unfortunately I have spent more money than I probably should in there because I’ll come in for a glass of wine or a bottle or prosecco and end up admiring a painting. within a week, its in my house. this has happened three times now! anyway, back to the wine… their prosecco is great, the port is better still and the innovative labels(like Folsom Prison Red) are almost as enjoyable as the wine within. last time I went, they had added free wifi too. Living close by, I can now take my laptop in and do a little work with a glass of locally produced syrah in hand. what’s not to like?

Had no idea this place has been around for six years! I did attend an event here about two — three years ago and happily came across it again this afternoon. It’s on the other side of Sutter, not the side with the Folsom Hotel. Next door is a new age shop and across the road is the pizza spot & Scarlet’s. Procissi Wines have their tasting room here in Old Folsom and the grapes originate from the Placerville area. Fantastic little spot with one-on-one service. Local artists also display their paintings and today one artist was busily sketching away. They are only open from Thursday to Sunday, on Sundays they close at 5:00. You can get two tastings for $ 3, however I happened to hit it just right. The owner had almost all the bottles open and since he was closing in an hour, I got to try all the wines(except for the Cab Sav) and no, I didn’t have to pay. I just had to get the 2005 Reserve Syrah — it was a tossup between that and the 2007 Zin. I suggest you get the syrah too! It has been aged for nearly five years and the flavors are amazing! Not your typical berry flavors, this is very well-rounded and should be drunk now. At only $ 18 a pop, I could afford a bottle, but wish I could have bought a case!
