We ordered 7 drinks and the old guy that works there was so rude to us. My husband was asking for his drip coffee because he was waiting for awhile and that old man was rude and said well u ordered 7 drinks so wait! What an ass! U should appreciate and feel lucky to get customers and you need to treat everyone with mutual respect! I bet his employees or maybe that was his daughter and she is embarrassed of Him! I would hate to have a father like that! TheN he was yelling at my 1.5 year old nephew for playing with a couple sugar packets! Calm down old man and chill the F out! Then I asked for whipped cream and he was like well I need to charge u 30 cents. I seriously thought he was joking but then he hunted me down for it disrespectfully over the counter while I was having a conversation at the sofa! I swear he must be racist against Asians. This business only has negative reviews from Asians because he was so rude to them. so I really think he is racist! Whatever! never come back again that’s for damn sure! Oh if u asked? I gave him 29 cents! Yeah I pissed him off!

This is my first visit here and what a pleasure. Gary is very kind, with great customer service and a warm smile. I only wish I had more time to chat and hear his life story and why he chose Folsom; a city that does whatever it can to keep US out. 3 years and still going STRONG? I applaud this man! Monday-red beans and rice Thursday-Gumbo I SHALL return…

Cute hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the heart of Sutter Street — Folsom, CA. It’s located next to Sutter Street Grill… there is no outdoor sign, so it’s easy to miss while driving by. Anyway — decided to come here for a little breakfast & coffee. I am very impressed! The food is great. I got an egg burrito w/pork sausage & a medium size coffee. The prices here are incredible. Both of these together were ~$ 6.50. You also get a lot for your money. Oh…and free Wi-Fi is awesome! I know I will be back here very soon!

I’ve never had a vegetarian sandwich and this was a good place to have one! I Didn’t have enough room for their gelato but was able to sample not 1 but 3… And they where yummy… Wanna go back just for the gelato

I haven’t had a customer service experience this awkward in a long time, so this definitely inspired me to write a review here. My friend and I were shopping in Old Folsom, when we stumbled upon this place. Since we were carrying our laptops and looking for a place to get some work done and there wasn’t a Starbucks in sight, we decided to stop here. Typically, I’m an avid Unilocaler who checks out reviews before visiting any establishment, but since the place was clean and the décor was inviting, we decided to just wing it. There were two people working at the counter. A young lady, and a man with a disposition that he was some sort of manager or perhaps the owner. We then observed a sign that said something along the lines of «No cell phones or laptops in the dining area between 11:30AM and 2:30PM.» Since it was already about 6PM, we figured we could sit at a table and use our laptops. We walked to the counter and I ordered a strawberry Italian soda from the man while the young woman, who was pretty polite during our time there, helped another customer. While handing him my card to pay for my drink, I asked him if they provided Wifi, and he coldly said«Yes, but you have to sit over in the lounge areas and not at the tables while you use the Wifi» even though it was way past 2:30PM. I told him we didn’t mind, and as he charged the drink to my card, he told me «And if you want to sit in the lounge and use our Wifi, you have to make a purchase.» «I-isn’t that what I’m doing?» I asked. My friend and I then sat down in the lounge, where I started to look through Unilocal reviews and see that the service was considered questionable, and it made me nervous to be there. We decided to stay away from the staff members, so as not to set anyone off like in the reviews we had read. The vibe in the room was so strange that my friend was almost too nervous to ask for the Wifi password. Then, after a little more than half an hour there, we saw the male staff member walk the only other two customers in the place out, from the dining area. Telling them in a loud voice in front of us, almost like he wanted us to take a hint, «Yeah, I’m trying to get out of here as soon as possible and go home.» It was still an hour and 15 minutes before their normal closing hours. When he came back inside, he said«Yup, there’s no one outside anymore,» then told us, «Ladies, wrap it up.» If this place was only a gelato store, I could undedrstand them not wanting people to idle in the place. Gelato, ice cream, things of that sort are the kind of thing you purchase, consume in a short period of time and move on from. But when an establishment sells coffee and meals AND has Wifi available, they are inviting people to stay and sit a spell. And that was the part of the place that I didn’t understand. They made it seem as though we were asking for free cups of water and asking to use their personal Wifi accounts. But we were just doing what made sense for us: Getting drinks so we could relax and enjoy them while getting to utilize their Wifi. The fact that they had a laptop friendly area was what drew us to them in the first place, so them not allowing us to enjoy the full extent of what is provided was not very fair. Maybe a place like this would do better with shorter business hours and can stay open later if things are busy instead of closing early when things are slow. Not sure. Not the owner and it’s none of my business. The two stars are for the comfy atmosphere, the decent lounge area, the cleanliness of the seating area and the fast Wifi. Other than that, I’d almost feel uneasy visiting this place again.

I do not remember how I ordered but I got two scoops of gelato in this plastic cup. I dont remember how much but it was a hot day outside and I know it was the best time to eat it. I recall tasting a raspberry flavor gelato and I do remember it tasting really good. The interior was very old fashion but quite charming. Clean and well maintained. The workers behind the counter were very attentive and pleasant. I used their restroom and it was clean too. It’s a great place to bring the family to cool down a bit. Try it out… I highly suggest it.

Can’t even rate the food because the service was so terrible, we weren’t even allowed to eat here. We were kicked out VERY rudely by the server who yelled and berated us for daring to bring another restaurants takeout box in with us while we waited for friends to get their gelato. He was extremely unprofessional, immature, and irrational about the whole senario. Theres plenty of other places to get dessert. Never going back.

Wow, arrogance personified. Went for breakfast this morning with 8 people(all family members with 3 small children) only to be met with a muttering of «oh great, I bet 3 of them don’t order anything» If I were a small business like that… I would welcome every single customer with open arms instead of being made to feel like a chore for these people. Heads up owners(just in case you pay attention to your customer feedback)…I will be warning people off coming to this farcical, jumped up dive with microwaved bacon because of the behaviour of your staff. I wanted to like it but I was forced into submission… sorry. Best regards Nick

Slow service despite no line. Food was microwaved despite the $ 10 charge for a small sandwhich. Employee sucked his finger while working on our sandwhiches with his bare hands. Not after they were done. Sucked BBQ sauce, then put meat in microwave, then grabbed our bread to slice. Not once washed his hands after sucking on his finger. Despite being a microwave job took more than 20 minutes to get our sandwhiches. No one else waiting on orders, I watched them just chat around.

This my favorite gelato date spot for me and my son. The gelato is amazing. I’ve had lunch here a few times and the food is decent. The staff is always super friendly every time I visit. The ambience isn’t my favorite, it just feels a little cold the way that they have it arranged. Not a great adult date spot but, it’s perfect for me and my kiddo for a quick stop-in.

Aweful coffee and hot drinks in general. Ordered 4 drinks: 2 lattes, hot chocolate, and drip house coffee. Every single person in our group(five of us) reported that each drink tasted like it was half hot water… Don’t come here for the warm drinks…

Aweful. Just awful. The rooster and I have an interesting relationship. It leaves me alone and I don’t have to write a bad review. But on one recent evening the craving for a hot cocoa while at the ice rink was overpowering. Damnit! That cock got the best of me… A packet of cocoa and warm water. And I PAIDFORIT. ugh.

A gal friend and I decided to try The Black Rooster earlier today. The inside is cozy(small) and it wasn’t too busy. We were greeted by one of the owners, who was pleasant, and were offered three small samples of their Gelato — yum. I decided to start with a San Pellegrino($ 2) and ordered the Vegetarian($ 9) sandwich. First off, my «San Pellegrino» arrived in a pint glass, no bottle, no limes, and oodles of ice. I’m not a snob, I swear, but this has never happened before. Usually the beverage is kept chilled(no ice needed) and is served WITH the bottle. For all I know, I could have spent $ 2(no refills) on generic club soda. I mention this because it’s something for the owners to reconsider. As for my food, overpriced and mediocre. :/My friend said she same about her Spicy Turkey Panino($ 9). I’m not a huge fan of their ‘no laptop/phone in the dining room between 11:30am-2:30pm’ rule either. Would I come back for their sandwiches? No. Would I come back for the gelato? If in the area, yes.

I’ve been in here twice. The first time was the best smoothie I’ve had in my life. The waitress was a bit snooty but that was a long time ago. The second time I picked up a couple of muffins on my way to the light-rail. The waiter(owner?) was extremely helpful and friendly. He even told me where he bought the muffins which I thought was kind of funny, because wouldn’t he want me to keep buying the muffins from him? But then it was really early in the morning, so maybe he was just bored.
