The worst hair cut place ever in Flushing NY. This hair stylist pushed me to do the hair color, perm, treatment… etc. So, I refused and said that all I need was the hair cut, and right away the hairstylist, D$$y, got upset, spent 3 minutes for my hair cut. So unprofessional, so irresponsible, and so ridiculous. He should work as the cash collection agent, not the hairstylist.

Worst place ever. Came here for ombré. They didn’t know what the hell they were doing. Bleached my hair then colored it and it came out green. Then they bleached again to take the green out and now my hair is completely damaged!!!

So I did come back, primarily for the hair wash but ended up asking for a trim since I was leaving for vacation and didn’t think I would be able to schedule an appointment with my East Village salonist before then(what’s the old adage? Patience is a virtue? Yea, should have called her …). The owner and the one Cantonese speaking woman I had last time were still there. A new kid on the block did my Taiwanese hair wash and he was rather rushed and didn’t massage my scalp as long as I would have liked. He spoke Mandarin to me too so of course, he couldn’t understand my instructions. Then, I get some inexperienced(Mandarin speaking!) guy to cut my hair. He was nice and he tried; I really didn’t ask for anything complicated so I acquiesced. A trim. No one can really get that wrong right? Plus my hair was not long(slightly passed the shoulders). He did a decent job with the back and layered the front a bit, the way I asked. He even mimicked the bang trim like what I had in the picture I showed him(but it was NOWHERE like the way my Japanese woman in the East Village does it so I’ll have to make that appointment for when I return). My biggest gripe wasn’t him or even the hair wash guy. It was the unethical treatment at the end when he pulls out his receipt pad and asks the Cantonese woman(whom clearly didn’t recognize me as a former customer) how much he should charge me. Mind you, this guy is less experienced. She has an exchange with him and says«$ 20» and then the owner(only suspecting because he was near the cash register and eventually took my money) tells her and my hair stylist, no, charge her $ 25(and in Chinese says something to the effect that that was«my price» — insinuating it was the non-Chinese price). I didn’t argue because it was fun seeing this unfold in front of me; then once the Cantonese speaking woman realized I spoke, understood and was Chinese, she recoils in embarrassment. If you notice the prices that are posted, it’s a bunch of garbage. They’ll claim the price difference is due to hair length or something they find«difficult.» It’s all bullshit; I had a trim. A trim. One inch off. A hair wash and he blew it out(didn’t even use the hair straightener this time). The price range posted for this says $ 10-$ 25. It’s a pretty big difference. The last prices I had here were $ 12-$ 15 inclusive of tip for the same exact services. Now, I don’t care about the few extra dollars. I paid without saying anything to them but it’s the principle. They lost a good customer who would have brought her family and friends and referred them to colleagues. But because of their unethical practices, they get a one star review instead. And no new customers(or me — ever again). Effers.

This is a no thrill hair salon. Cut is $ 12, wash and cut is $ 18. They know what they are doing, and they do it fast, without trying to push additional services on you.

Wangs is a great place that I found while looking at the fruit and vegetable store next door. The two ladies outside told my wife and I that it was a good place and great for the money. That’s Wangs in a nutshell: good haircut for the money. Tons of extras like super-long shampooing, massage, blow-dry etc make it a pleasant experience. For $ 8 it’s great. I also go for the face wash and shave and at $ 12 it’s a tremendous deal.

Been coming here for the past 2 years, probably every 6 months or so cause girls don’t cut their hair as frequently as guys do: D Cut & wash is only $ 18. They kind of give you a little massage session too while they shampoo and have to wait for the shower to rinse. I feel like they wash or condition my hair twice because I have long hair. My hairdresser(the owner) remembers me because she’s my uncle’s friend so she remembers how I want my hair cut each time. But, even so, sometimes I see someone come in and they seem to remember who it is and remember what they want. They’re super friendly also! Even though they’re not great with English, it’s passable. I recently got my hair permed recently as a little pampering for myself. I got their Brazillian keratin treatment for $ 150(?) and she gave me free cut&wash with it. I think they do that anyway even if you didn’t ask for it because you NEED to get your hair washed and trimming so it looks good coming out of the salon haha ;D I spent about 3 hours at the salon getting the perm and I love it! She recommended the keratin over the Japanese straight because it’s more ‘natural’ and also repairs your hair. After I had it done, my husband’s aunt immediately asked me what I did to my hair because it looked great! She at first assumed it was the pregnancy so she didn’t ask until I mentioned that I had my hair done. Right after I done it, It was really soft and great I love it! Would definitely recommend it to anyone who has damaged hair and want their hair more smooth and shiny :) I would definitely go back, not because she’s family friend, but because they’re the only place that can cut my hair the way I want it. All the other places I went to didn’t listen to what I wanted and cut it however way they want. They actually listen and cut it how you want it. Even if I have to wait, it’s worth it for me.
