Usually, I wont give comment on Chinese food. But for outstanding foodstand, I will give my supporting efforts by writing reviews for them. TianJin XianBing is awesome. Not only the owner is nice, but also the food is authenticly delicious. I think the dining quality can prevent people from going but I doubt it is dirty. Anyway, it is delicious. For those people who are interested in Chinese food and never be in China, come here, give it a try!

Got the niu rou xian bing, which was not quite as good as the ones I remember from my childhood. This version was a bit too oily and the balance of sauce /meat /scallions was just slightly off. Still delicious(what’s not to love about beef and crispy scallion pancake) but too greasy for me.

The beef rolls. OMG. It’s so good!!! I don’t know how I’ve never had it before!!! Now that I’ve had it I’m definitely gonna have one every week. SO good! The best part is the wrap — it’s so chewy! It’s perfect!

You have to get past eating in a basement on little fold-up stools that feel like they are going to buckle. Once you do you’ll be in dumpling heaven. I highly recommend the special with shrimp, pork, chives and egg. It was the best of all the dumplings we tried. Super fresh, inexpensive and tasty!

After having read the reviews on Unilocal,I today tried lamb dumplings at Tian Jin. They were no less than amazing! Succulent, flavorful and wow, just amazing… oh yeah, I just said that. As others have written, this place is a bit tricky to find because it is in the basemet of the rather non-descript(dumpy?) Golden Mall, but it has an open kitchen and although tiny, the place looks clean. Tian Jin(store #33) is one of several little restaurants/stalls in the basement of the mall. You sit on tiny chairs at the counter, or take your dumplings and buy something else to go with it at one of the other places that has tables! The people working here have limited Englsh skills but know what they are selling. So if you don’t speak any Mandarin, you can point to what you want on the menu board. For those who came here before Christmas, they have a sign posted letting you know that all prices went up on Dec 24 by $ 1/order…Merry Christmas! It takes me almost 2 hours to get to Flushing on weekends riding the subway(thank you MTA) but it is well worth the ride! By the way, I did not venture to look, but I would trust the reviewer who said to use a restroom elsewhere before coming to this mall! THISREVIEWISFORTHETIANJINDUMPLINGHOUSE. Tianjin Xianbing is not easy to find, but it was definitely worth the effort. Grab a seat at the counter and start ordering. This dumpling house in the basement of the Golden Shopping Mall has exquisite lamb and green squash dumplings, made to order and served steaming hot. At 12 for $ 5, the price is right. I also love that you can order a dozen dumplings made with any combination of meat and vegetables you desire. If I lived in NY, I would eat here every week til I tried all the combinations!

I would have never known about this place, but fortunately I was with some Taiwanese parents who took us to all the hole in the walls they knew in Flushing. Get the Niu Rou Xian Bing(Beef). It tasted delicious even after microwaving. The filling is addicting. The savoriness is so worth all the grease and cheap to boot, because food in Flushing is cheap. We also tried the Jiu Cai He Zi(Chives), which wasn’t as great as the Niu Rou Xian Bing. It needed more chives/egg and less noodles.

Boiled pork and chive dumplings were OK. Super cheap and filling, but not super flavorful. I guess that’s what you can expect when you pay $ 4 for 10 dumplings in an underground food court. Plenty of other food stalls around so you can mix and match. I’d highly recommend the food court, but I would try elsewhere for dumplings.

Last year I was too turned off by the awful smell at the top of the staircase to go down to this place. This year it was better, so I went down. It’s dirty but a very cool experience. We only had the vegetable dumplings– they were good but not mind-blowing good. The skin/wrapper was thin and excellent. Wish they came with a better dipping sauce rather than the hot sauce and the vinegar. My guess is the lamp and squash dumplings(or the pork) are the ones to get here.

OMG… i randomly stumbled onto this place. Not putting it into mind since it looked like an ordinary street stand, I looked and ordered a lamb xianbing. $ 2, I thought what the heck. Let’s try it. It’s what I like to call a Chinese lamb pancake since it looks like a scallion pancake without any scallion and stuffed with meat. When I took a bite into the pancake, I was surprised with the burst of flavors introduced to my taste buds. It’s a greasy, flavorful concoction of yummyness. I can’t quite describe it but it’s just good. I let my friends all try some and they too were impressed. We now are addicted. Too bad it’s in Flushing. If only I got the recipe to make my own at home…

There are a lot of things about Golden Mall that can make some turn away. This itty bitty stall in the basement turns out some fine dumplings. On a day when there was plenty of heat outside and in these soft little pillowy balls of goodness stuffed with lamb and squash(#2) were irresistible and a total bargain at $ 5 for a dozen. Paired with the pepper sauce, some soy and garlic they were more than enough of a meal for one. I decided to avoid the«build your own» ingredients, sticking with a proven choice. Heavenly. Yes, the Golden Mall is hot, sweaty, dirty in places and run down, but personally I find a lot of charm in the place, and the people working this business couldn’t be nicer. Highly recommended if you’d like a great meal at a cheap price and don’t mind a wacky ambiance!

For $ 4, you get a plate full of jiao zi which is good for a meal for yourself or to share as an appetizer with 7 other people. Now, I’m not usually the one to dive first into a review and say how cheap it is but not only is the food super cheap, I would’ve gladly paid twice that amount for the quality and taste of it. The service was great and helpful and if you spoke some Mandarin, they’ll be extra accommodating, plus they’ll be aware not to say shit behind your back or to your face if you didn’t understand. I digress. There’s really no space here as this basement is shared with a few other eats and the stools and bar table is short. So you’ll be best off standing and eating your food or take it outside. My biggest gripe is for a Tianjin spot, I had hoped they served gou bu li bao zi, which is a specialty from Tianjin and something that I do really enjoy eating. Oh well… Price: Super cheap

Ok, you guys done goofed. This Unilocal listing is for the beef roll stall on the street level, not the lamb squash dumpling stall in the basement. You illiterate people that made the mistake should really take down your pictures and reviews so you don’t end up confusing other illiterate people. Lolz. But anyways the beef scallion roll here is just meh.

We had take out foods from this place. They are so good that make me want to drive all the way to Flushing to get more. Chives pancakes are the best! Buns are huge in size and tasted really yummy. Everything I got from this place, tasted nature, fresh and homemade. And the price is unbeatable: $ 1 for a huge mantou(buns without fillings) that feeds two for breakfast is just amazing! Will definitely come back for more!

Okay, Im still not sure if I was in the right place but finally found the spot that had the beef wrapped in a scallion pancake. I had my Unilocal pictures out and thanks to some friendly New Yorkers they helped me find Tianjin Xianbing. However, after rereading Unilocal reviews I am not sure if I went to the correct booth. I went to the booth outside right on Main Street and ordered the scallion pancake w/beef roll. It was too greasy and I didnt like the flavor of the beef. I loved that it was affordable and easy to eat on the go if you had to but I would have to pass on this one.

Amazing find. Huge portions loaded with taste at a crazy price. We split two servings between three people and were full afterwards. The lamb and green squash dumplings were extremely succulent, and the standard pork, shrimp, and chive dumplings were great. Be sure to use some of that chili oil! And get some frozen ones to go. Compared to the dumplings, the assortment of liangcai(cold plates) may seem a bit pricey but the portions are quite large. We split a portion between pigs ear and mu er(wood ear?). Nice ladies, great food. Can’t wait to come back!

Be sure to keep your eyes open to find this place, the stairway down from the street to the mall is very inconspicuous and the store itself blends in with the surrounding stalls a bit too much for my liking. That being said, this place has the most amazing dumplings I have ever had. An amazing bargain for the price, you get 12 massive Lamb and Squash dumplings for 5 dollars. If you feel adventure you can drive the beef tripe and the spicy tofu dishes they also display in the window but for the first visit we all just had the dumplings. Each one is plump with meat and vegetable and while immediately served piping hot, if allowed to cool, the first bite is divine. The majority of each is meat while the squash gives it a added texture and flavor that really enhances the lamb. At the small eating area there is a container of red pepper oil that you can place on the dumplings which I would really recommend as it adds a nice little bit of spice to each dumpling. Overall, while we had planned to go to another restaurant after, my group was so full and satisfied with the dumplings that we didn’t eat anything else. A must stop if you haven’t been.

Best scallion/leek egg pancake/turnover whatever you want to try to call it in English. I get these ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE they are available, but the best ones EVER are here! :) Ridiculously flavorful. Perfect ratio of egg, noodles and scallion/leek. Also they use a powdered salt on the outside, like popcorn salt or something. They use just the right amount to be flavorfully salty without being overly salty. Dang so good. 5 stars just for this. They have pretty good scallion pancake and other snacks too but I literally can not walk within 5 blocks of here and not be loured over for this delicious snack! EVERYTHING is written in Chinese, so bring a Chinese speaking friend OR point just point at what looks good to you :)

I love their beef roll. This, along with the dumplings form Zhu Ji dumpling stall, are two of my favorite hangover foods. I discovered this stall while looking for Lamb Noodle Shop and since then I’ve been back many times. The flavor is unique. Most of the scallion pancake w/beef rolls I’ve tried in my life have been Taiwanese style. These are obviously from Tianjin — as the same suggests. And yes, as other Unilocalers have said, it’s oily. However, sometimes the flavor is so good, that you don’t mind the oil so much. This is the case here. The flavors in the stewed meat really pops in your mouth. Even writing this review is making me crave one. I’m not sure if they also own Tianjin Dumpling House, located in the basement of the Golden Mall, but the boiled dumplings there are unique and tasty as well.

$ 4 lamb roll $ 4 beef roll $ 6 tub of pig stomach $ 1 scallion pancake $ 1.50 big pork bun Prices may have gone slightly up compared to the early entries on Unilocal but gawd-awl-mai-tee this is the best cheap food stand I’ve encountered in a long time! One star removed only because the scallion pancake and big pork bun was not hot; though it might not be their fault considering this was purchased right when snowstorm Nemo was coming… Then again the rolls were hot so what gives?

We were able to locate this place without some help from Unilocal. It is in fact the stall facing the sidewalk with some nice ladies willing to take your order. Don’t hate on me, but this was the first time that i had to order using a photo on my phone. The braised meat is tender and fatty, rolled inside a scallion pancake for about three dollars each. It was totally worth skipping breakfast and the train ride to get there.
