I think my taste buds have been desensitized to soup dumplings. I sat there and tossed soup dumpling after soup dumpling into my face, and it did nothing for me except for take up my precious stomach space. No stiffy, no sweaty palms, not even a quickened heart beat. That pretty much summed up my eating experience here that night. The majority of dishes were mediocre. However, for an aspiring home cook like myself, it was a great learning experience. We had the mapo tofu. And, in this shanghai version they use Sichuan peppercorns which have slight numbing effect. It was moderately spicy, numbing, and very soupy! Yes, soupy! Their signature dish was sautéed shrimp in their shells(look for the poster of this signature dish on their wall). The shrimps were soo young and tiny. Barely legal! Here’s the conundrum, they’re too small to peel and eat. So what would you do? You’d eat them whole; head, shells, meat and all. Yay! But…, shrimp have these forefeet/incisors, aka death-dealing claws, or whatever-you-want-to-call-them, that get extra sharp and stiff once they been fried up. The whole experience is like throwing a baby porcupine in your mouth and hoping that it doesn’t rupture your esophagus. Next time I see that poster of their«House Shrimp Special,» I’m gonna hock a loogie on the floor. The place was nice. The servers, extra nice, for no apparent reason. The shrimp?, not so nice. ps: should I be worried about this hacking /wheezing cough that I’ve developed?

This is a pretty small place and I’ve tried their soup dumplings as well as their beef noodle soup and another rice dish(don’t remember what it was because it wasn’t that good). I think out of all 3 my favorite would be the taiwanese beef noodle. The soup base is really good and tasty. Other than that I think this place is just okay… maybe I didn’t order the right dishes but I’ll come back again next time to try something else and get the beef noodle soup again.

My massage therapist is from Shanghai China and she said this is where she goes. When a Chinese woman from Shanghai says this is where she goes for Shanghai home cooking then I take her word over Unilocal. This is where you get Shanghai home cooking. The menu is very extensive. More extensive than any of the other Shanghai restaurants we have been to. I can’t find the menu on line. There were no tourists here. Nobody seems to know about it. We had Ma Po Tofu and Xiao long bao(soup dumplings). But you can get dozens of meals here. It is all authentic obviously. It is clean(for Flushing) and service was friendly.

The WORST food ever in Flushing !! I ordered a rice plate and a noodle, the rice came with 2 pieces of meat and the noodle taste like it was from frozen udon. Me and my gf scope two bit of food only, it taste so bad we told the waiter to give us the check and we left within 5 min after we sat down.

I drop in there cause it’s the only with an A rate on the window comparing to a few next door on this block. it’s decently price around $ 5 to $ 7 for a quick meal. Their food is really oily thus super yummy. I felt guilty after eating. The place is clean and service is good since it was only 7PM before the crowd comes in. Menu is long and might cause a headache to just order from the selection. If you have AT&T like me, good luck with phone signal cause I end up with Edge.
