I like this place. I had a top-notch eye exam by the doctor and he did not try to upsell me. All I need are basic reading glasses and he didn’t even try to encourage me to buy from him. I absolutely adore the saleswoman Ellie. She knows her products and gives great advice. I get a kick out of watching Ellie diplomatically handling rude excessively demanding customers.

What an awesome find! Ellie is a top notch professional who really knows her stuff and provides amazing customer service. Their prices are also lower among all the Queens opticals I’ve looked in(but by no means cheap, which doesn’t exist). Great selection too, I have 2 pairs of sunglasses and 2 regular lenses done by them so far and am very happy.

I was looking for a local optometrist that took my insurance, and chose Schrier. Loved the experience for a number of reasons: 1. Quick, efficient service. Classic Modern Orthodox, so be prepared for rapidfire conversation! 2. The doctor was efficient, friendly — and funny! I enjoyed his gentle humor, and it certainly made me feel comfortable. 3. There was absolutely no attempt to «upsell» me on glasses. Once they figured out what I was interested in buying, they stayed with those styles. And despite the brand names, the prices were great! 4. When we mentioned that my wife was on my insurance, the woman didn’t blink(did I mention they were Modern Orthodox?), and cheerfully checked that we also had the same address and phone number. No judgment or awkwardness. I’m pleased that I went with Shrier, and look forward to many years of service with them.

I called Schrier Optometric Assocs to buy my insurance covered contacts. My first call, which I believe was with Dr. Schrier, was very pleasant. He gently explained that I needed to fax my prescription. No problem. My second call was answered by an unpleasant assistant. I tried to explain that I sent a fax in with a prescription. She told me in an exasperated voice that my contact brand was not covered by my formulary. I didn’t know what to say to this… and the sullen silence on the other end of the phone was uncomfortable. Awkwardly. «I said well I guess I’ll go find out what brands are…» The answer was a swift good bye. Turns out that all I need was an extra word on my prescriptions brand name. I might have even bought the contacts without insurance if she had made any effort to help me. So two stars for now, until I can get my contacts. I hope I do not get the same receptionist next time I call. If this happens again I’m going somewhere else. UPDATE: The girl that helped me in the morning was much more personable. They took my insurance and I got my contacts.

Funny, quick, and professional. I’ve been going here for years now and Dr. Schrier and his fast talking staff of girls are incredible! Unlike Pearl and Lensecrafters they aren’t trying to rob you by forcing some big plastic monstrosity frames that will go out of style in a second on you. I got two pairs of glasses(One Norma Kamali, and another pair made in Italy) for under 400 bucks! Everyone complements me on them and I have yet to see my style on anyone. It takes week to get them made, but trust me it’s worth being patient. I travel 2 hours to Queens just to get my work done by him if that’s saying anything. P. S. there are no frames over 250 bucks in the whole place, and they’re open till 8pm on Thursdays!
