Enjoyed the dumplings when they were in business. Walked in today and business is closed.

I had some dumplings and thought they were good. not crazy good, but the ones I could comfortably call good. I’m sure there’s more to this dumpling factory. It’s rare to find a dumpling I dislike, btw.

The best dumpling place in flushing ever! My friend took me here and I am totally in love with their dumplings. The couple who runs this place are from Taiwan. They are very friendly. Every time when I go there, I feel like I’m back home. I love to have a little conversation with them. They make their dumplings freshly everyday. You can see them making them behind the counter. The dumplings are very juicy even though they are not soup dumplings. I normally get the frozen ones so I can make a easy lunch or dinner at home. Their frozen dumplings are a thousand times much better than the ones you get in the Chinese supermarket. They are still juicy even I cook and eat them at home. Don’t miss this place if you love dumplings!

I cant believe i ate so many dumplings. they say you are what you eat and after coming here i feel like a very well stuffed dumpling. i stop in here because it houses the cheapest bakery that i know of where i can get a plain bun or an iced horlick or iced ovaltine/nesquick. But if you venture waaay into the back you will find a little dumpling place. the menu board will pretty much let you know what kinds of dumplings you can get. I felt like i was reading out the whole menu before i even got to the pan fried dumplings. There are lots of steamed ones and only 2 types of pan fried ones– pork and leek and veggie. I ordered the pork and leek steamed, the pork and corn steamed. The seafood corn steamed and the pork and leek pan fried. while i sat there waiting i was treated to a dumpling making show. there was a woman intricately folding and stuffing the dumplings and another rolling, cutting and pounding out the little rounds of dough until they were nice and flat. After that she would stuff them individually and give the skin a little slap while it was on her palm like she was slapping them into shape to be tasty little dumplings. I enjoyed all of the dumplings and the corn ones had a nice texture of little popping kernels in your mouth and a slight sweetness. I also like the dipping sauce and hot sauce he gave me a little bag of. The pan fried ones although not as crispy as i am used to were still good. They were made so they look like long dumplings with a different shape which i didnt mind because that means i can bite 2⁄3 at the same time. The only thing is that if you wait too long to eat your steamed dumplings the skins stick together and they fall apart so eat them while they are hot. I am not crazy with the counter staff but the old man in the back prepping all of my food was a sweetheart. He felt bad as if he couldnt get my food out soon enough and apologized profusely. They close when the bakery closes so try to sneak in before then. check out these corn dumplings if you can. Unilocal 100 Challenge: Review #2

I came here yesterday during my lunch hour because I heard that they sell a mean wonton soup(thanks Unilocal!). Unfortunately, they were«sold out» at the time I went, so I went with the fish ball soup instead. So I’m not much of a fan of fish balls, but I got to admit these tasted pretty damn good(btw they’re not really fish balls… they look like tiny logs filled with fish inside). The broth was the star attraction of the dish as it tasted very flavorful and full of herbs. At only $ 2, it was a steal. There is ample seating here and the food is very cheap. I would definitely return here in the future :)

$ 3.50 for 10 dumplings… The dumplings here are just okay, nothing special about them. They’re cheap but not as cheap as some other dumpling joints. Their dumplings are too small… It’s worth trying but not the best deal…

For some odd reason I was craving dumplings for my brunch so I brought my boyfriend to this hole in the wall joint in main street. Thanks to Unilocal,I now know it is called my sweet home dumpling. It’s located at the back of maxim bakery with a big lighted menu on top. On my arrival, the husband and wife were folding dumplings while their son was happily chatting away. It had a nice family vibe to it. I was a bit skeptical about the place because the tables were unstable and slightly dirty. Also there were plenty of fruit flies flying around and I caught who I assume was the owner of the store swatting at flies during my whole meal. Despite the environment of the place, we ordered the pork and leek dumpling along with pork and cabbage dumpling. It was ready in about 10 minutes and came with wooden chopsticks, soy sauce and chili oil Mixing the two sauces together really gave the dumplings some flavor and kept them moist. Most dumplings I’ve had were thick rubbery, and dry, but the dumplings here were nice and moist. I liked the pork and leek dumpling so much that I ordered seconds of ten pieces. Since it was combined with a bakery, we got some ice milk tea while we waited for our food to cook. How convenient ! The next time I come, I would order the dumplings to go so I won’t need to spend half the time swatting away flies. Three stars for the Unpleasant environment

If more people came here they would feel the warmth and welcoming good home nature of this Mom and Pop joint! When I first came here the two sons were at the counter while the dad was in the back filling fresh dumplings with meats and herbs. I had to rush over to the city for an event and I needed some finger food to get me through the night so I ordered 10 of the fried chicken and leek dumplings for $ 3.25. Considering my big appetite I was skeptical about dumplings being enough. Me and a buddy were in my car driving and eating these dumplings and I have to admit I was so mad I couldn’t close my eyes and really appreciate all the great fresh ingredients shooting through my taste buds. Usually when I think dumplings, I see pieces of some food that I eat to hold me until my meal arrives; Well not these dumplings. I was full and spent the rest of the night with the energy I needed. Second time I came the kids were happy to see me again and the mom and dad were warm and welcoming. We talked about them being on Unilocal and they didn’t even know what it was. So I promised an official review of the meal that I had that day. Considering I’ve eaten dumplings from many dumplings spots in queens, manhattan and brooklyn; I am very critical of the dumplings I eat. I ordered the chicken & leek and my friend ordered the Seafood dumplings. They were fresh and tasty as expected. Both came hot with soy and chili pepper sauce. We were both very satisfied and treated very nicely. I’m definitely going back much more often. They’ve won a regular. P. S. $ 8 for a dinner for two with asian sweets from the bakery in the back. You can’t beat that anywhere in flushing.

In terms of elegance and ambiance, this place isn’t exactly stunning. But, that was one damn good wonton soup for $ 2.00! These people didn’t just poor out a wonton soup from a large pot. No, they first put every spice into the plastic container, followed by their chopped scallions and other vegetables. then they poured in the broth. FINALLY, come the dumplings which are handmade right there for you to see by the employees near the counter. Dropped those in and we had ourselves a masterpiece.

There’s something about hole-in-the-wall dumpling places that gets me excited. Maybe it’s the preconceived notion that I might be eating the most awesome secret homemade recipe from someone’s kitchen. Can this be it? Is this the undiscovered mom-and-pop dumpling shop? The service is left a lot to be desired, but I think that has come to be expected from hole-in-the-wall joints run by ladies dressed like accidental hipsters. They sat there for a while, finishing their lunch before they decided to take our order. — Pork and Corn dumplings, it’s okay. — Pork and Chives pan fried dumpling, deliciously crispy!

Edit — 7÷9÷13 No more homey, reusable plates… all styrofoam which is a bit risky considering how hot the dumplings are. I haven’t started bringing my own plate/bowl around yet, so I guess I’ll just eat here a bit less often. Dumplings still so delicious though! :) Fish dumplings! Fresh and has a bouncy consistency. Even though I’m not sure what kind of fish they use nor where they get all their ingredients from, their shop looks clean and the people are friendly(though I have some trouble communicating in Cantonese since they speak Mandarin) so I like to indulge in their delicious dumplings once in awhile. It’s easy to miss since it’s at the back of a bakery, probably why it hasn’t been flooded with reviews and customers yet. My mom brought me here! Save some styrofoam and have a sit-down dumpling meal with their reusable plates… bring your own chopsticks if you can!

We were just on this end of Flushing+Rossevelt Ave. and hungry so we took a chance with My Sweet Home! The kitchen is located in the back of the Maxim Bakery. What we found is a small dumpling business that makes 13 different types of dumpling! They have dumplings with fish, vegetable, pork & chives, port & corn, pork & cabbage, chicken & chives, chicken & cabbage, seafood+pork & chives, seafood+port & corn, seafood+pork & cabbage, fried pork & Chives, fried vegetable, fried fish. They sell them in two sizes 10 pieces or 15 pieces. Too much? NO! Just start and you can’t stop eating them. We had: D4: Pork & Corn Dumpling– $ 3.50 for 10 pieces. Very tasty. Skin is thick but not rubbery. Rate 4⁄5. D11: Pork & Chives Pan Fried Dumpling– $ 3.25 for 10 pieces– Delicious! thin skin with lots of filling. Rate 5⁄5. Note: The kitchen is open is very clean!

Dumplings, Pan Fried Dumplings(difficult to find!), Noodles, Side Dishes: CHECK! The dumpling here are ridiculously good! It just doesn’t get more authentic than this. I would consider this a hole in the wall(at the back of Maxim Bakery) but it’s so clean! I personally like to plop down at the bar and watch them make the dumplings. The owner is so nice if you get to know him. My fav dumplings are hand’s-down, the FISHDUMPLINGS! You just can’t find any better out there! Get the Fish Dumplings! The rest are all awesome as well. They all taste good! The vegetarian one is good but a bit on the bland side, compared to the meat ones. And the Pan Friend Dumplings, can’t find them anywhere really, not made the right way like here, two ends open. Entertainment: CHECK! They make the Dumplings right in front of you, they also cook in front of you so you know this is a clean shop! Great Price: CHECK! It’s $ 3.50(10 Dumplings) $ 5.25(15 Dumplings) at sit down They also sell frozen ones($ 13-$ 20) for 50 Dumplings
If you don’t know how to cook dumplings, the asian way goes like this — 1. Add water to pot till it’s half full, bring to a boil on high heat, and then add the dumplings. Do not defrost. 2. Immediately stir the dumplings, so they don’t stick to the bottom. The heat stays on high throughout. 3. Once the water is boiling again, add 1 cup of cold water, bring it to a boil. 4. Add another 1 cup of cold water, bring it to a boil. TaDah! Perfect Dumplings! Even if it’s frozen, I would guess they are no more than 1 – 2 days old, the turn around rate here is ridiculous!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Flushing. They have Taiwanese style dumplings that are small and have soup inside! I am a pescetarian, so I always order the Fish dumplings — they are PHENOMENAL. You won’t find dumplings like this anywhere else in NYC. Always fresh made, you can watch them pounding the dough and wrapping the filling in the front counter! You can also get soup with your dumplings. But besides dumplings, they also have little seasoned cold dishes like seaweed, eggplant, and tofu that are also really delicious. And they have Beef noodles in soup. My cousin said the beef noodles aren’t obviously their specialty but they’re okay if you are in the mood for some. The kitchen is clean, and the food is clean. No need of fearing an upset stomach from here! That is, compared to about 97% of restaurants in Flushing lol. And the owners are always working behind the counter — which is a Taiwanese family, sometimes I see the son working with ol’ papa! They are nice and open to talking to me, even with my battered mandarin(I’m an ABC =P). They recognize me every time, especially because my whole family loves to eat here! The dumplings counter is in the back of the store where they are sharing with maxim bakery. They have tables, seating, and a public bathroom. It is shabby but that’s literally the chinese-style. I feel like I am in China, eating at a public luncheon.

I know why there aren’t any reviews for this place! NOBODYSPEAKSENGLISHHERE! What I don’t know is why I’m still surprised that I need to speak Chinese in order to be understood. After all, this is ghetto Flushing. Aside from the language barrier, I like eating here, especially for the pan fried pork and leek dumplings. Today, I got pork and cabbage dumplings(felt«healthier» not getting them fried) and a beef noodle soup. They make it on the spot and it’s still a pretty quick, inexpensive bite to eat.

Unbelievable there are only 4 reviews here. Another stop on our Flushing dumpling run. Its almost a dumpling speakeasy. When you walk in, you’ll need to walk past the Maxim Bakery, which occupies the bulk of the space and past their seating area. The seating area extends into a narrower space at the back, where you’ll find My Sweet Home Dumpling, a counter with a bright menu above it, and beyond is a surprisingly large kitchen area where they make and prepare the dumplings. The people there were busy making dumplings when we arrived. Besides the selection of dumplings, there’s also some cold marinated veggies dishes to choose from, just point. After we took over the closest cafeteria style bench seating, we ordered the boiled fish dumplings and fried pork chive dumplings to try, along with some pickled veggies and cold eggplant. I’d skip the sides next time(although the pickled veggies were ok) and stick to the dumplings. Personally loved the boiled fish dumplings, which were pliant-skinned and had a subtle, refreshing flavor. For those who prefer a bolder flavor from their dumplings, the fried dumplings, which were the open-ended variety, were crispy, juice, and tasty. To get the best of both, I think I’m having the fried fish dumplings next time. Super cheap, pretty clean, and just plain fun to have.

This is my type of hole in the wall place — If you are looking for something extravegant, then you are in the wrong place, however, if you are looking for good, cheap food, then you are in the right place. Although this place may not have the best dumplings or wontons i have ever tasted — the fact that they are fresh and handmade, and that the owners are very nice, and the prices are low brings this place to 4 star status for me. When coming up to the My Sweet Home, the sign outside says dumplings, but when you walk in you will see Maxim Bakery, then a small sushi stand, and MSH in the back. The owner and his wife will probably be rolling dough or making the dumplings/wontons… $ 3.50 for 10 pork dumplings, and $ 4.00 for 10 chicken — I opted for the chicken and cabbage dumplings — which tasted like pot stickers. I also ordered the $ 2.00 wonton soup — which had authentic handmade wontons(i only say authentic because they tasted like the wontons i had in China, and not the ones from the Americanized delivery places). I will definitely going back to this place sometime in the future.

Again, the warmth and welcoming attitude of the owners made me feel comfortable even though I was dining alone. This time I ordered a beef noodle soup– a taiwanese staple. Oh man. They do not skimp on the beef. I must’ve had about 8 thick slices. I’m used to beef chunks that were stewed all day in my niu rou mien but I won’t complain. The noodles were chewy and bountiful, as were the bok choy. While I could taste a hint of pepper spice(my nose started to run at least) and star anise, it was not as spicy and flavourful as the ones in taiwan. But then again, this soup has to cater to a wide variety of tastes so I think they got it just right in the middle. Their version doesn’t have tomatoes in it, but I am kind of glad because I would have exploded from the serving if they also had tomatoes in the soup. I am going to Nan Bei He on princes street to try out their breakfast items and beef noodle soup soon so maybe their version beats this one but who cares. I had a good meal and that what matters. I tried to order a niu rou jia bing(beef wrapped in pancake), but they had already sold out for the day.
