They serve bull penis here! On a stick!(I didn’t order it, but I’ll try it if you try it…) I like the dollar carts on the streets, don’t get me wrong, but if I can sit indoors and enjoy several skewers at a time? That’s awesome. Nothing screams bar food like a bunch of skewers and a bottle of beer. I think there’s only one girl that speaks English here. Good thing she was working when I went there. — Pork ribs — too much bone, not enough meat. — Chicken gizzards — spicy. Odd flavoring. — Beef kebabs — savory and juicy. I think this one was the best. — Sweet potato — I love sweet potato on a stick! Who wants to try the bull penis with me next time? =D

This place is awesome. My friend took me and I was so amazed because you can grill/cook your own meat sticks(chiggeeen, beef, lamb, etc) and its so cool! I think its a really good experience at a pretty good price, $ 12 for 10 sticks? Or $ 10 for 12. Im not sure, but it was a really good filling meal. The servers are really nice about everything & I didnt realize they spoke korean until way later(my friend is chinese & spoke to them in chinese) But yea, I only had their skewers & I’d definitely come back for those & to try their other dishes ! SOCOOOOL (I was trying to keep my noobish excitement in this post cos when I went I was super excited cos the grilling thingy was so awesome lol) The front of the store is like a … clothing/bubbletea/random thingy but keep walking & you will see the restaurant in the back, enjoy !!

For the longest time, I had no idea this place existed. It’s a well hidden secret but if you’ve ever been to Kung Fu Tea you’ll see this place in the very back. I didn’t get a chance to try any of the prepared dishes, and we were skeptical about the place because it got a «Grade Pending» as a health rating, but we ended up trying it anyway and we went with the BBQ side of the restaurant. The quality is similar to that of street vender skewers but on the BBQ side of the restaurant you cook the skewers on your own and add whichever spices you want. One thing about Minzhongle though is the owner really didn’t put much effort into translating the BBQ menu into proper English. None of my friends read Chinese or Korean but honestly what the hell is a «Steamed Breed» or «Fish Wan» anyway? Thankfully the waitress spoke enough English to give us an idea of what it was.(I’ll let you find out for yourself) We got the lamb, «cow», and pig’s tongue skewers which were surprisingly decent(I’ve never had pig’s tongue before). The cow skewer was horrible. Apparently in China people love fat cause that’s all this skewer was, 99% cow fat. Don’t order the 2nd «cow» skewer because that’s what you’ll be getting. We threw half of our cow fat into the charcoal and ordered the actual beef skewers, the first item labeled as «cow». Overall it was a decent place with decent skewers. I’ll be back with my friends to check out the other side of the restaurant to give this place a proper review.

Queen’s China China Town! Had a yearning for some bubble tea & a sweet pastry, but it was kina late and all the bakeries were closing. The Kung-Fu tea next door is how I discovered this place. This a review for the guy cooking up the shish kabob’s out front, I didn’t go into the full restaurant. So as I’m waiting for my tea to be made there’s a dude in a window cooking up chicken on stick over hot coals while a bunch of people are ordering. Why not? Dude not only has chicken, but you can also choose from lamb or pork. He dips into his refrigerator after you order, harpoons your meat selection on to a wooden stick and throws it on a grill above hot coals. He then laces the chicken with some red spicy powder and tends to the shish kabob so it cooks evenly. The chicken tasted fresh and had a nice kick. Really Good StuFF

One of my friends heard about this restaurant and decided to organized a group of people to go. For some reason I got designated to make reservations and do the ordering. I went to the restaurant and met Jessica who was one of the waitresses. She spoke to me in Mandarin and I essentially told her my Mandarin sucked and I’m better in English politely. She was able to accommodate since she can speak English, Mandarin, and Korean. After chatting with her I found out she was from Jinlin and she is of the Korean ethnic minority in China. The restaurant represents Dongbei food which are the three provinces in North East China — Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang. This use to be Manchuria before the Chinese government ordered a massive migration from Shandong to control the Manchurians since they once took over the country before. So the cuisine has some influence from Shandong. Since I was responsible for ordering I grabbed a menu and looked it over. I was familiar with Shandong food and had some experience with Dongbei food too. I always had a problem with Dongbei food in Flushing as I find a lot of places use low quality ingredients. The restaurant has a picture in front which was fish stuffed with lamb. They sometimes call this dish fish bites lamb, but my past experiences was fish sleeps with lamb or fish divorces lamb in Flushing. I decided to give this dish another try since my gym buddy Radford T was raving about this dish on Unilocal and on Facebook. It turned out later that this was the best version I had and they did a really good job. As for the other dishes Jessica sat down with me answering some of my questions. I ended up ordering the lamb with onions crispy duck Fried popcorn in egg yolk sauce beef tips Tea Tree mushrooms(very good dish) Tofu sphagetti — cold platter(on the house) fish soup — I ordered the large pot not on the menu. Gets more spicy as you drink it. pea leave shoots mochi with red beans(on the house) sweet and sour pork kind of sweet and flat in shape (I didn’t want to order this as this wasn’t a specialty, but the non-foodies wanted it). fish stuffed with lamb(very good version) She have me one of the rooms where we had to sit on the floor. It was authentic and no hole under the table for you to dangle your feet. Good thing most people at the party were Korean or have enough experience to do this. Your legs can fall asleeep if you are not used to it. The rooms also had one of those cool doorbells where you can call the waitress at your whim. But Jessica was running around all night like a chicken that lost her head so I didn’t want to bother her too much. She is great! The BBQ place in front(by the street) is the same owner as Minzhongle. Half the restaurant now serves BBQ. You can get all the regular dishes on the menu but you get to have a charcoal grill(like the guy up in front of the store). You have to pay a little more for the privilege to grill the meats at your table(something like $ 2). Its fun and great going with a group of guys. I think its worth it. The got bigger rooms that can seat 15 or 20 with tables and chairs. This is one of the better Dongbei places in Flushing. Its now open 24 hours.

The sautéed beef with scallions weren’t that great. I think it gave me a stomache. The waitress recommended the dish too. I also ordered house sautéed king and that was a lot better. The dish had a lot of variety of seafood which tasted great. I also disliked that they didn’t have a lot of side dishes for a dinner. This restaurant is Korean themed and at dinner time they usually serve tons of side dishes. This place only served two and their red radish tasted horrible. There restroom and décor is attractive.

We were almost foiled by the entrance, a bustling tea counter is on your left as you walk in and a clothing boutique almost disguises the entrance at the very back of the building. Blood vessel in cumin sauce? Extreme spicy beef veins? Ummm, not this time. But a spicy squid salad appetizer sounded perfect. While this was probably the least unique of the dishes, this was an amazing version of a squid salad. The tender squid was spicy and appropriately balanced with cooling cucumber and cilantro. I would have to order this again. We had the popcorn in egg sauce. We almost didn’t get it at first, but the fried corn kernels and pignolis grew on us– a lot! Like the popcorn, the other recommended dish I got from a review by Joe DiStefano was the crispy duck leg. This was a triumph of cooking technique. We all agreed we had never had duck that was this crispy with the usual grease. Equally impressive was how perfectly the meat was cooked under that glorious skin. A dish of salty something is on the side to add more flavor, but use sparingly. Lastly, we had a sizzling platter of saucy ribs. The traditional Korean influence was most prominent in this dish. The little nibs of ribs were cooked until soft and served in a mildly sweet sauce. This was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I’ll just have to jump on the series of Chinatown buses to make another pilgrimage soon.

First of all, yes this is a Korean restaurant, but please note that this is a NORTH Korean/Northeastern Chosun-Chinese restaurant. So don’t walk in here expecting Korean BBQ, soonduboo, bibimbap or other common dishes served in Korean restaurants because we are talking about a completely different cuisine here. I came here looking for Yanji(Yeon’gil) Cold Noodles, hoping that they would have it since they are a North Korean cuisine restaurant, and I wasn’t disappointed. The Noodle — buckwheat noodle served in a cold soup, topped with few slices of beef, kimchi, shredded cucumber, ½ boiled-egg, chili paste, and a slice of apple. The soup was sour enough, but I wish they put more chili paste on mine. Even though I’ve had better in Beijing, but this will do whenever I need to satisfy my cravings. We also ordered the Shui Zhu Beef, which is Water Boiled Beef in direct translation. It was alright but nothing memorable, and I rather leave Shui-Zhu dishes to Szechuan/Hunan restaurants. The restaurant is inside the same entrance as Kung Fu Tea, just walk all the way back and you’ll find it. Last time I was there they were blasting old school Chinese MVs from the early 90s and it made me feel a little awkward. I also think the prices here are a little pricey for Flushing standards, and the portions are just moderate.

So I have lived sooo close to downtown Flushing for 3 years now, and only one other time have I even entered this area for dinner. That’s all over now, because if I have my way Ill be exploring(eating my way through) this place at least once a week. We parked the car and walked up and down Main Street before deciding which place we wanted to try. This place was a little deceiving because when you walk in there are a few vendors and as you walk back you see this little gem of a restaurant. Its not terribly big, but not too tiny either. Upon sitting down we were greeted with a very happy waitress who gave us menus and poured us some tea. The Kungfu tea was perfect for the snowy evening. It was difficult for us to read the menu as the English descriptions are limited. We decided on the Chongqing spicy chicken, shredded duck wraps, and dumplings.. . Wait in the most honest move Ive ever seen in a restaurant, the waitress stops us «NO, no, that’s too much food for two of you, come back another time and try the dumplings.» I was floored. She also informed us that the duck wraps take an extra 20 min, which was fine because we had the other entrée too. She also suggested Soju for us to sip on and that was a really nice refreshing treat as well. The Chicken dish was HOT! My partner had a little trouble when he decided that he would eat one of the dried chili peppers, but this was tasty chicken morsels that had the bones still in. The duck came quite a bit later as expected, but was worth every min of wait time. The shredded duck with cucumber spears, and shredded spring onion was delightful wrapped in a fluffy pancake. The ONLY complaint I have, a side of rice clocked in at $ 3.25 each, I could buy a bag of rice for a little more then that! Will def be back here to sample more of their tasty food, and to visit that waitress that I think should be nominated for an award! I hope this place finds itself in business for a very long time

I’ve been back a few times since my first visit, and I must recommend a few dishes for those of you who are thinking of trying this restaurant. Steamed fish and lamb. This dish is spicy stir fried lamb stuffed inside a very tender steamed fish. Both the lamb and fish are very delicious. But the dish takes about 30 to 40 minutes to cook. I would say that even though the lamb is cooked with peppers, it was only mildly spicy, and the fish itself is not spicy. Chongqing spicy chicken. This is chicken deep fried with big peppers. Not overwhelmingly spicy, but you can definitely taste the peppers. And I think a tasted just a tiny bit of sweetness in the chicken also. Shui Zhu Yu Pian. I forgot to get the English name of this dish, but it is on the menu. It’s dish of sliced fish literally swimming in a red hot spicy broth, served on a wok shaped pan and with a container of fire heating it. Technically this is a Sichuan dish, but Minzhongle does it very well. Beware, this is very spicy.

I’ve been to a number of Korean-Chinese restaurants, and stumbled in looking for zhazhang mian, but it was not on their menu, and to me that is odd; it’s also odd that they didn’t serve us any kimchi for our banchan(that is a Korean staple!). It’s also odd that there was a big daddy fly in the water just served to me, and no apology or even surprise from the waiter when I presented it for an exchange. However, I have to say the naengmyeon was pretty good. I like the sweet/sourness, and the noodles are chewy. This place can be tricky to locate, but just find the storefront teeming with people queued up for Kung Fu bubble tea, and continue walking behind it.
