First off, it’s located at the corner of Main St and 37th Ave. The mornings when I awaken in Flushing and stagger to the 7, I would pass this well lit bakery with not a lick of English written on it. How do I know the name of the place? By what’s written on the cup of coffee! I get a roast pork bun $ 1.30(always hot on the inside) and depending on the time dictates what size coffee I get(small 8oz $ 1.10) bc I’m not braving it on the train during rush hour! It has yet to disappoint me. Great breakfast item! For a small bakery, the selection of buns is pretty extensive. Note: this is ran by a bunch of asian women who don’t speak a lot of English. If you understand that statement, than don’t be surprised of the«you pay you leave» mentality. At least you get in and out quick! I’ll be back here!

I used to think this bakery was decent for it’s prices and selection. However, this past weekend, the cashier was extremely rude to me. I asked her the price of a bun, and she told me $ 1.20 in Mandarin. I then gave her $ 1.20. Then she just left her hand out not saying anything. Then I asked«what do you want?» She said it’s $ 1.25 in a very rude, condescending manner. It’s not my fault you incorrectly said the price the first time. Management, please do something about the rude customer service!!! I will try to get the name of this cashier the next time I go, since I do pass by often.

Their pork filled buns are AMAZING! I typically buy 2 a day. In general, their prices are cheap, their baked goods are delicious, and the service is fast. If you are ever in Flushing, you should definitely stop by their shop!

Bread is good here. Cheap prices. Ranges from $ 1 to $ 1.60 for bread/pastries and $ 1.10 to $ 3.75 for hot/cold drinks. I recommend the red bean swirl bread, sweet potato bread, pineapple bun, and milk tea. Pros: 1) Use real HONGKONG milk tea bags not LIPTON tea bags… 2) Fast service in the mornings 3) Deal for«SUMMERDRINKS» after 2pm: Bubble/rainbow jelly milk tea for $ 1.40, I got two for $ 2.75. Cons: 1) Real cramped space… like half a hallway basically. 2) They talk behind your back if they think you dont understand Cantonese… BEWARE. It’s actually pretty disrespectful because they do it a lot… 3) They dont accept more than 5PENNIES. This is weird. I think they might be too lazy to count themselves. 4) Sometimes, if you ask if they have a summer drink special, theyll say no… seems like they only have the summer sign outside for advertising purposes and not to actually sell any of the drinks… but its worth it if you actually do manage to get it. TIP: Get the summer deal if you want the iced milk tea without paying $ 2.50. You pay $ 1.40 and drink the tea and ignore the bubbles! Recommend for cheap snack/bread to eat, dont recommend for the ladies who work there.

This bakery is terrible. One day, when I picked out some bread and see I don’t have enough money. The lady behind the counter kept on saying«Then why you pick it out from there?» 3 times. It’s self-service, of course customers pick it out from the self. There were so many people around and I was so embarrassed. When the same issue happened in other bakery, the cashier pick out some of the food to make it enough for me to pay and talk to me so polite. Self-service bakery usually make the store clerks irresponsible and lazy to help customers and make them embarrassed. I never went back there anymore. I rather go to stores with no self-service.

Honestly, I would give this place 0 stars if possible. If you’re into terrible customer service and spoiled food, this place is for you. The ladies who work here make negative comments about every customer in Cantonese under the impression that we do not understand… hello, this is Flushing. They complain about things as little as giving out a plastic bag to having to accept a $ 20 bill. Money is money is it not? They also take their sweet time making drinks and serving customers because they are too busy complaining about the customers. Also, the corn bread was spoiled and sour… disgusting. Came here for the first ANDLAST time.

Had a bad experience with them. I was becoming a regular customer but my last visit I went to shop there and when I picked up what I wanted to purchase I handed the cashier a $ 20 bill and in my change I received a counterfeit(fake) $ 10 bill. That was the only store I went to after work so I know I received it from them. The business lied to me over the phone and told me to come back to resolve the issue but when I went back they did not honor what they told me over the phone and also a lady working inside laughed at me. I ended up being scammed my money. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to buy from this business. They will distribute fake money if they have it and they will do it knowingly then lie if you find out. I wouldn’t support businesses like these that treat customers like this.

This small and narrow bakery is great. I’ve been a frequent customer for several months now and the prices are relatively good. I usually just purchase bubble tea and a coconut bun. They have a diverse selection of buns to choose from, considering the bakery is small. The buns on the shelf are pre-wrapped so that’s always good. They don’t have any«Buy 1, Get 1 Free» type of deal like they do at Chat Time but the prices are fairly low that ehh, it doesn’t really matter. And also, the line just sort of forms by itself. Just pay attention and know your order as sometimes the lady behind the cash register can ask you for order while she’s taking the order of the person in front of you at the same time. Oh, and the ladies at the counter don’t speak English very well but they get the gist of what you’re ordering.

This is the first time I’m giving a positive review for a place where I wasn’t too crazy about the food. I’m not really a sweets guy(looks at stomach, yeah I know). I’m not. I don’t get cravings for baked goods. Everyone I know that does like sweets love this place. I have walked into and passed by Maxin Bakery on my many trips to Flushing and it is always crowded. My GF and I came here late on a Sat night after having about a bathtub full of Shabu Shabu. I think my body was telling me to get something sweet because I got that Hot n Spicy hot pot. This place as a ton of desserts I have never even heard of before as well as some classics. You can get individual slices of treats or the whole cake/loaf. I picked up some Tiramisu and it was delicious. I also got picked up some sponge cake desserts which I wasn’t too fond of but I’m sure a cake foodie would love them. They also sell GIGANTIC pork buns. I was staring at them inside the fridge for 2 min cause I could believe how big they were. You can pick up a pack of 6 buns to take home and heat up later. It looks like you could feed a family of 10 for a month with them. They also of course have hot food but by the time we got there it was all gone. Would love to go back and try the buns and various dumplings they sell. I’m making sure I plan on doing that soon.

Fresh baked pastries(coconut buns, cha siu buns, and chocolate/vanilla rolls) and lemon and milk tea/coffee are what usually make up my general purchases here. I find that smell of bread enticing. Let alone, the delicious aroma of coffee that wafts in every now and then. Yes, there may be a free for all when it comes to lines, so be prepared to either wait or be assertive when ordering. Have your order and cash ready in hand. :)

Lemon black tea with lots of lemons and a huge fluffy steam bun for $ 3.10 = yes please!!! Delicious bun that you pick out yourself from the self serve bun container. These are huge by the way and for $ 1.10! I did get a rather large hot tea too since I’m suffering from allergies. Also impressed by such good tea they had. Though they went lemon crazy on it(it was like half a lemon!) Will be back the next time I’m in the area.

Dirt Cheap Chinese Bakery in Downtown Flushing. Ham and Cheese Bun for $ 1? HELLYESPLEASE. The selections are decent and prices are too good to be true. Most bread items are $ 1 – 2. Drinks tend to be more expensive than food items here. My Iced Green Tea was $ 2.50 while my Ham and Cheese Bun and Corn Bun totaled $ 2. I took away some points as the ladies here don’t speak English. I requested a Longan Drink and she kept yelling«WHAT??» So I said politely«Longan», she still didn’t understand and stared at me like if I was weird or something. Finally, decided to point it out on the menu and then she says«LOAN-GAHNNNN~» in Chinese. Ugh~ how am I supposed to even know how they are pronounced lady… plus in Korea, Longans don’t even exist

I was taking some classes across the street when I discovered Maxin on my lunch break. I love the peanut pancakes and they also have a nice selection of tasty«granola-ish» bars for someone looking for a slightly healthier option. Prices are incredibly cheap and the whole bakery is clean and neat. I usually don’t come to Flushing, but whenever I am in the area, I’m sure to stop here.

I love, love, love Chinese pastries and Maxin for the most part delivered. While the chocolate cake(a steal at $ 1.80) was amazing and light, the red bean sesame bun was loaded with oil and wasn’t nearly as good as ones I’ve had in the past. This store is super tiny but has a pretty decent selection of pastries and buns for take out.

Small, concise, and neat, this is the closest bakery to my apartment. It’s not usually crowded in the morning since it’s further from the train station than most bakeries(e.g. Taipan. Fay Da, etc) I like the fact that most of the buns are pre-wrapped and you can actually buy steamed ones too. Went in, grabbed about 13 buns for a party for work, paid for everything and was out within 2 minutes. The lady even asked if I needed a receipt(in case I need to list it as a business expense). Awesome bakery!

Came in and got the Vanilla Roll Cake which was very good. It was moist as if it were just made. Prices are good compared to other bakeries in Flushing. I like that they make Bubble Tea, Tea and other types of drinks there. If you are in the mood for a quick hot snack they also have hot pork/chicken/beef buns in the warmer to the side. Place can get a bit busy during rush hour so get ready to be bumped by some old Asian woman.

Got the sesame roll and it was SO good! A great sesame flavor in a soft and sweet roll, with JUUUUUST enough crème. Bought a red bean bao for my bf and he found it to be very good(def a 4 star bao in his opinion). I got the black tea bubble tea, and while the bubbles were awful, the tea was absolutely amazing — like I remember it in Taiwan! A little more pricey than other Chinese bakeries, but pretty tasty none-the-less. Also great, convenient location. Would I come back? YES!!!

Usually stop here before boarding the LIRR. It is super clean and the staff(mostly women) is super quick. The baked goods are neatly organized and tempting. They make various Iced tea flavors. I have only tried the honey green tea. Although it was not my favorite, I look foward to trying a different flavor.
