Pretty cool Chinese /Korean grocery. Pretty much every kind of Asian food that you could ever want you will be able to find here. And, to top it off, there’s a bakery that sells Chinese pastries. What satisfies me the most about this place is the ridiculous quantity and variety of items sold. The place reminds me of the old Nickelodeon show Finders Keepers, where kids basically ransacked this fake house looking for prizes. You could totally see little kids just running through this place knocking crap off the shelves everywhere in some kind of feeding frenzy… Anyways, yeah, awesome place.

You have a big selection. Relatively clean. I can dash in and get milk and TP if I have to. Sometimes your cashiers scowl. They make faces. Hey, i can shop here too! I wouldn’t get this treatment at H-Mart!!!

If I didn’t live across the street, would not come here. Only go for emergency items like milk and eggs. I do like that they carry these organic, so that makes it easy. However, the workers are so rude. It’s also dirty/smelly around the fish area. I don’t even make it to the meat counter. Yikes.

Great for rare fruits and vegetables at good prices(like all chinese markets).however, they are a few notches higher on the cleanliness scale than the average chinese market. the sole«big plus». The butcher counter in particular is much cleaner than the average«untouchable» status of most chinese market butcher counters. They also have a very big seafood section that is fairly priced though not particularly of the highest quality. Mangosteen, rambutan, green papaya, durian and lychee pop up here. and the southeast asian treats on offer are not often found in the korean markets. They also have a great Korean banchan/chotgal store inside towards the front. which is run by koreans and where you can expect korean standards in cleanliness and quality. The place is great and worth going into the market for their stuff alone. The major downside is the attitude of many of the workers. I know, easy to say it’s the same in all chinese markets. The american concept of «rude» has not yet reached most of the 1st generation chinese immigrants. that’s fine. I’ve been to China, I understand the levels of rudeness and what should and what definitely should not be expected. but the trouble often encountered at L&L is of a whole other level, and it has caused me more times than once to walk out of the place. The people at the seafood counters are exceptionally obnoxious, cold, unappreciative, unfriendly, inconsiderate. and bad for business. They act as if it’s a drag to help anyone, and as if they are the only show in town, which they certainly aren’t. It is to the point where I only buy there what I can not buy elsewhere in reasonable distance. I still do the majority of my shopping at HanAhReum/H-Mart just a few blocks away. and buy most fish at Parks Market in Whitestone(149th/WilletsPointblvd). Better than the average chinese market in everything but attitude. bottom line– I live in the area. but if I didn’t, I wouldn’t make the trip to shop here.

Vegetables are so fresh and you can pick as little/much as you want. They don’t tie or pack them. I love it.

No more coupons! :(Oh well, we had a good run. I heard they got robbed, it was in a local newspaper or maybe they made it up as an excuse to stop the coupon give away :P

This place has unbelieveably cheap prices for good quality fruits and vegetables. L&L has all sorts of weird fruitveggie thingies(and i’m still wondering what the spikey ball thing that they’re selling is) and have a WIIIIIIDE selection of korean, japanese, american, and of course, chinese products(because it’s obviously a chinese supermarket, hence the orangey-red color to it’s exterior). So when they have yogurt, they have LOTS and all sorts of yogurt. I don’t really think the cashiers are too nice(or atleast one of them). They either don’t understand too much english or they just don’t want small talk. I usually shop here for emergency items. I bought all these items that would cost $ 60 in total in other places, but I spent only $ 20 which was weird. I’m hoping that it was just a cash register error, but I think it’s just about right. I remember an avacado was a dollar while it’s 2 or 3 dollars elsewhere and an already-cut and packaged pinapple was ALSO a dollar(which was definitely a steal since it was a lot to eat). GREATGREAT prices especially on produce, no kidding. They have EVERYTHING but cottage cheese though and that kind of makes me sad because I need my cottage cheese to make my lasagna. Speaking of, I think they can improve by having more american products, but that’s just me. I can just go to C town or something if I needed american products. You can receive $ 1/$ 5 coupons which is effective so don’t be afraid to take advantage of them! They’re like monopoly money to me that actually works. Just because it’s a chinese market, many korean people are reluctant to come in because it’s in middle of a korean neighborhood but infact, the place is incredibly diverse by nationality and you’d be suprise where all these people came from. There are also mini stores in the market which are completely separate businesses from the market so you have to pay separately. They have sushi, pastries, and even a korean a la carte store(such as kimchi, etc.)

I admit that I haven’t been here personally. But my people have. And any place that gives my people Bön Chon chicken on one occasion and Kyo Chon chicken on another occasion for FREE as part of their grand opening promos deserves at least 3 stars as well as a ridiculously long run-on sentence.
