One of the most beautiful Buddhist temples in New York City! With its elaborate, yet simple aesthetic, this Zen center is an amazing architectural wonder. The Han Ma Um Zen Center of New York is located in the diverse community of Flushing, Queens — home to one of the biggest concentrations of religions and faiths from around world, living peacefully side-​by-​side. Flushing, Queens is also the birthplace of religious freedom — in 1657, the local farmers dared to protest Governor Peter Stuyvesant’s persecution of religious minorities — the «Flushing Remonstrance» demanded religious freedom and freedom of conscience for all people, including Friends (Quakers), Muslims, and Jews.
