If you don’t speak Spanish, they will give you a hard time, language barrier and all. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but I simply wanted to order some empanadas, rice and beans. After being on the phone with her for about 15 min of repeating myself, I successfully ordered 4 empanadas and a pollo asado with beans. Funny because when I said«pollo asado» she had no idea what I was talking about. I had to google their menu and pull up the order number! She goes«oh ½ chicken and rice!» YESSS!!! That’s what I said… afterwards I had to repeat my address 4 times, spell it out letter by letter although I’m 3 blocks away, and repeated my phone number 3 times with an accent, which she seemed to understand better.

There aren’t many Colombian restaurants in this area. This might be the only one that I know of. So when I found this place on Unilocal I was pretty excited I walked in and saw a small little seating area with a counter. The cashier instantly handed me a menu where there were many options to choose from. Eventually I set my eyes on the pollo asada half chicken. Everything I ate tasted very well. All the sides. The beans and the salad and the chicken. All seasoned very well. I wanted to try the empanadas but I was so full from the meal. I will definitely be back here.

Great empanandas. Better with their hot sauce, and there mundungo soup is pretty good, tried 2⁄3 of the menu so far and all were very good. The guys ride their bikes all the way to where I work(35th ave.) for delivery so i don’t know what that guy Kenneth is talking about below.

Good empanadas but their delivery that they boast about on their menu is deceptive. I ordered delivery for an address less than 3 miles away and they said it was not possible. What? If you can’t deliver that far why even bother pretending you deliver?

Now called Empanadas El Gustazo Resturant! Yummy Chicken Empanadas with hot sauce. I don’t recommend ordering for pick up since the Empanada aren’t as crispy. Make sure to order fresh! Enjoy!

Empanadas are not all made equal! Here they have the freshest and tastiest empanadas. Cooked when ordered. Not sitting around for hours on display. Oh & that hot sauce… yum

This is not one of those Baskin-Robbins of empanada with 31 flavors(like at Mama & Papa). Nope, just plain good fried beef empanada. They have other food here but I only tried the empanada. Rated 4⁄5. Tip: The store awning reads BURGEREXPRESS so don’t get confused; I did.

Just had these guys for the first time this past Sat 2⁄23. I held an 80’s party at my house and one of my friends brought these little gems to the party. OMG they got wiped out! Mind you she bought 4 containers full. Will be going here really soon to get more really soon.

The beef empanadas are not the best, thanks for letting me down Unilocalers. They had 3 kinds; beef, chicken, and cheese. I had all three and the best one that I think has to go to the chicken. I gave it 3 stars because I was expecting the beef empanadas to have more beef in it, it was very pasty inside with very few shredded beef.(it might have been bean turned into a paste and mixed with beef, not much flavor) The chicken, on the other hand, was very flavorful with punches of spices and real chicken shreds. The cheese is a pass; it was basically mozzarella with nothing else; no flavor and for some odd reason, it was a bit cold. I love how it came out fresh, the outside yellow flour is crisp and crunchy. The hot sauce makes it all go down easier but I was expecting it to be «green sauce» and for their sauce to not be water down. Overall for the price of $ 1.25 each, I would possibly come back if I’m near the area but would explore a bit further into jackson heights for some real authentic mexican food. The place isn’t hard to find, even though google map says otherwise. The sign says«Burger Express» and Palacio De empanada on the bottom. It’s next to a small chinese hole in the wall restaurant.

The beef empanadas are probably the best I have in all of NYC, better than Mama’s Empanadas. However, it is a hole in the wall and doesn’t look sanitary! The hot sauce is the best i’ve tasted.

Great food overall and a fun cute little place to hang out for lunch and a Malta or two. You must have the cheese empanadas! The prices are reasonable and rice platters are around $ 6~$ 8. Come by for a leisurely meal and feel like you’ve travelled somewhere far away from the grime and dust of College Point. Well, at least the music and smell of deep fried meats and empanadas does for me. Haha.

Only one good thing here… when it is fried fresh… OMG…the beef empanadas!!! With the hot sauce!!! DOUSEIT! Every things else you can skip but the BEEFEMPANADASWITHHOTSAUCE… I had a friend try this not long ago. He loved it too. Trust me! When it is fresh out of the fryer… ITISAWESOME. I can eat about 3 – 5 at a time. People come here just for the empanadas. Local people eating here. They are a dollar each. Tell me how it goes if you try it! GOTRY!
