STOP! Don’t do it! This place is an insult to Mexican food. It’s really that awful. I only finished my burrito because I was very hungry. But it was not enjoyable. And the«salsa» was so bad I threw it away. There are a couple ma and pa places in Ridgeland. Do yourselves a favor and go there. Taco Bell is better than Izzo’s. I’m not a big fan of Chipotle but Chipotle is eons better than this place. I’m mad I wasted my money. Barf. I’d give it zero stars if possible. And if your food is going to suck you should at least have decent service. The service sucked as well. And the place was dirty and the employees were just standing around. Double barf. And yes I may be biased as a Californian but if you’ve given this place good reviews you need to get the fuck out of MS and eat some real Mexican food.

4 stars in the fast food category. This place is close to par with Chipotle, the gold standard of fast food Mexican. And it’s far better than why passes for Mexican in Rankin County sit-down Mexican restaurants.

We visited this place on a Saturday around 12:00 p.m. It was not super busy when we walked in, but soon there was a long line behind us. It was our first time eating at this location. The people taking our orders switched on us and made it very confusing. The final order taker was rushing us and slapped the food on our plates hurriedly. She slung food to the window in front of us accidentally because she was in such a hurry. The food would’ve gotten on us if not for the glass barrier. No one behind the counter had hair nets on, they continued to use the same gloves after touching non food items, and they all looked sloppy in their attire. This place was dirty. The counters by the register and the soda fountains were sticky and dirty. The tables, chairs, and WALLS were filthy. The food was good, but as I got to the bottom of my food as I was almost finished, I found a HAIR on my plate! I was disgusted and will NOT return to this location. Do not waste your money or time. Very disappointing, especially since it cost us $ 30.00 that we could have spent on a much better experience elsewhere.

I used to really enjoy this place. I remember how much I loved this place and how happy it made me that I had a place to fill the hole in my heart Moe’s left after it closed. Today we went in and they now have new plates for the nachos that are considerably smaller than the old plates. I was assured over and over that the«ounces» were the same. Well, my coworker and I have never finished a plate of their nachos before. We always had a take home bit. Today we not only finished them but we went to Baskin Robbins for ice cream after. Worst of all, that fantastic cheese has become a soup. The cheese used to be thick, creamy, and so flavorful. Now, and I’ll do my best to not exaggerate, the cheese is so soupy that it rolls from the chips leaving a thin tasteless layer and the rest pools in the bottom. The staff is great and the restaurant is clean. The ingredients seem fresh and are really pretty good(except the poor cheese). The reason for the low grade is that you can’t blow a patrons expectations up when you open then slowly cut back on the awesomeness. I will not be returning to this location.

Lackluster. Ordered nachos with chicken and it was disgusting. Charred and felt like I was eating sand. Chips tasted stale… would never come back here.

Getting better… Online ordering was successful today– orders were correct and ready when we got there. Unfortunately they still have some issues. Biggest concern is the amount of food you get on your burritos. I always order a small and hubby always orders a medium, and most of the time it is the same amount of food in both– which is pretty minimal unless you ask for more. The rice seems to always have really hard pieces sprinkled in. Customer service is much better lately, and the place was fairly clean /which seemed to be a new priority.

Food had always been tasty and the staff friendly. The establishment is consistently unkept and dirty. And the back half smells of garbage. It seems to be better at lunch than dinner. Please, Please Izzo’s management take care of this.

Short Version: FILTHIEST place I’ve ever eaten. Looked like we walked into the aftermath of a food fight. Long Version: My wife and I have been here several times. I like the Izzo’s, Moe’s, Chipotle style of restaurants. I like the food at Izzo’s, I like the menu and my past visits have been good. It’s really my place, not my wife’s. I don’t think I’ll be able to talk here into coming here ever again. My wife and I dropped in for a burrito(for me) and salad(for her) and had a different experience. We came in on May 2nd at around 7pm. There was only one other table with customers and nobody in line. Izzo’s was filthy from the front door to the back. The floor was dirty, we searched for a clean table and gave up. We cleaned one up as best we could with napkins. My wife ordered avocado on here salad and since he could not find the scoop(he mentioned that he hadn’t been able to find it since he got to work) he just kind of smooshed it out of the avocado skin with his finger.(He had a glove on, but sliced or scooped avocado is entirely different than avocado paste.) I considered this to be quite unprofessional and unappetizing. When I fixed my iced tea, the only lemons available were 3 dehydrated lemon rind slivers with no actual lemon on them. No thank you. The restaurant literally looked like the employees had been having a food fight. Their various food makings were all over the floor behind the line from one end to the other. Some of it was piled up as they had swept it out of the way with their feet. The floor in the rest of the restaurant wasn’t clean, but it was nothing like that area! The rugs at the beverage and salsa bar were extremely dirty as well, but that may have been because it was in the line of fire as they threw food at each other down the line. I don’t know if they made the mess intentionally, but they certainly weren’t cleaning it. They also had the music blaring so clearly they were having a good time. There was nobody who looked older than their teens in sight, so I have no idea if a manager was there. If there was a manager on duty who was not blind, there was no point in talking to them about this. This was quite simply the FILTHIEST fast food restaurant I’ve ever seen and that is really saying something! I like their food and would have rated them higher for past visits, but this visit was a 1 star because there is no option for no stars.

Yikes. I walked in about an hour before they closed to grab a quick bite to eat, and it looked like a bomb went off on their steam table. What looked like refried beans were strewn about the table, ground beef was dried-out and clumped together and I struggled to tell them what I wanted on my burrito bowl because about half of the bins were empty. The chicken, beans and rice were room temperature at best, and to top it all off, the table I sat at was dirty, too. I don’t think it helps that it didn’t look like there was a single employee over the age of 20. Need some management there to preserve the appearance. That steam table is the first thing customers see when they walk in, and it’s what they choose to eat out of. Why on earth let it look like it got hit by an F-5? Disappointed.

This is my third trip here and so far the staff has been friendly, helpful, and professional each time. So full five stars on that mark. However, I dock a star(which would be half a star if possible) for the selections that you can choose for your meal.

There was hair in my food. I was offered a refund or for them to remake it. I finally got my food 10 minutes after the rest of my party finished their meals.

Good food. Place opened with a bang and fizzled oit quickly. Facility is filthy. The salsa bins are never fresh and most are empty. Tomatillo sauce was fermented and carbonated when I got some. Customer service is also lacking and trash cans always full. I was so excited to see a build your own burrito place ope after Moe’s closed, but this is just blehhhh…

Love the fresh crafted food at Izzo’s. I particularly love the shrimp quesadilla. I’m pretty careful to keep it to the basics though, bc you can easily double the price of your dinner if you like to add the up-charge stuff like mushrooms, guacamole, etc… For a yummy fresh taste of Baja-style Mexican this is my fav. The queso cheese dip is good too.

Just had them cater a business meeting for me. They were right on time, hot food, and more than enough food. I would definitely use them again.

They should fire the existing staff and train a new contingent. The restaurant is absolutely filthy. While waiting to order my burrito, I watched a cook place a filthy box of tomatoes on the grill. After a few minutes he turned the box over and started grilling the tomatoes. They were moldy mushy tomatoes. Absolutely disgusting. The attendant took my order, but I needed help with knowing what I could put in a burrito, and she became openly contemptuous with sighs and rolling of her eyes because she had to tell me what salsas were available. The condiments were all nearly empty, and the counters were coated with filth. Workers kept throwing their trash and food bits on the ground, rather than into the trash can, and the glass protectors over the food were hazy with a film of grim and food. There are no signs to tell you what is available for toppings, and the staff is hostile if you ask for anything. If you don’t tell them to stop and put on toppings, they’ll just try to roll up your burrito with as little as possible. No one knew what was going on. The order-takers were looking to the cooks, but they were too busy chatting in the back on their phones. The grill and flat top they used to cook were both covered in burnt food. No one was taking the time to scrape either down before starting the next order. Overall, it was absolutely disgusting. The manager could see the disgust on our face and gave us the food for free, but I had to throw it out after leaving the store. There is simply no excuse for their filthy work habits and unhygienic preparation.

Ate here several times before deciding to drop a review until a busy post church lunch rush experience. Had a slight hiccup with my order(first time that’s ever happened) and they not only refired my quesadilla but more than made up for it with professional way to handle a mistake I really wouldn’t have noticed otherwise; it’s fairly easy to get chicken and pork mixed up. Really impressed by the young staff would made up for it and then some, way to go Izzo’s. I’ll be back for much more.

Now this place is an imitation of Chipotle, Freebirds, Bullritos, or Texas Taco Co. It doesn’t beat Chipotle, not one bit. It does in fact beat Freebirds or it can just be Freebirds with a different name and a different location. My babe and I found this place together just another step from our favorite Applebee’s. Lets begin our journey here now here: The size of a burrito you can choose from is medium to extra extra large and named the portion size from a misdemeanor to a super felony. I understand the concept of this place like I said it kinda sounds like another Freebirds. The staff didn’t seem too friendly, just kinda out of place. The girl who was supposed to serve was seemed like she was more into trying to impress me and my man than trying to serve us. She was very rude and didn’t show much of customer service. She ignored us and then helped someone else. What I mean by out of place is that the crew members didn’t have much of a theme to themselves. I get that the place is called Izzo’s Illegal Burrito, but when you go to Chipotle most of the crew members are Hispanic, or when you go to Freebirds most of the crew members have that punk rock look. Here they didn’t have anything that signifies the crime or bad-boy about this establishment. Here’s an idea: Fake jumpsuits Tee shirts that say I’m a very bad boy or I’m a very bad girl ANYWAYS… TOTHEFOOD! The burrito line was messy, the toppings looked dry and looked like they have been sitting for a while. Of course, the guacamole was extra, and looked too mushy. The cilantro didn’t look too fresh or pleasing. I tried it though. The combo was a drink, chips, and whatever else you ordered. The portion size of the chips and queso was bare-minimum. The shrimp burrito was bland. Everything that I put on my burrito didn’t spice it up, not even the cilantro. The Mexican rice wasn’t Spanish. It tasted like a mix between spaghetti sauce and watered down rice. I know, Mexican rice and I know what authentic Mexican rice tastes like. The cilantro didn’t add any spice to the burrito The black beans weren’t cooked all the way through, so it was a little crunchy. Oh and guess what they forgot to add my sour cream after I told the girl in the front that I wanted a lotta bit of sour cream. The tables weren’t clean, and the place was freezing cold. It felt like I was eating in Antarctica, but the restrooms were hot like summertime in Texas. At least at Freebirds you get to choose what kind of flavor tortilla you’ll get. Oh and the tortilla doesn’t taste hand-made, it just tastes like that store bought stuff. It was an experience, but I would rather just eat at a Mexican restaurant next time. They do need some help on trying to serve good food.

For some odd reason, the taste of their ingredients is odd to me, but that could be from consuming Moe’s, Chipotle, or Willy’s here in GA. But the flavors just don’t mesh well for me at Izzo’s. This was my second visit to Izzo’s as I’d returned home again to MS for the 4th of July. The service is nice, but this last go round they were just way too slow. When there’s a lot of people in line, there should be a better assembly line going to help speed the order making process up, but it seems like they haven’t quite gotten into a good groove yet(psst here’s a secret go watch what they do at Chipotle, when they have a line wrapped around the dining room out the door at 9:30 at night, it’s crazy). However, since there’s no Chipotle in MS, Izzo’s is gonna miss that secret trick, but just be warned if you go and there’s a lot of people in line be prepared to have a good long wait. So as for the food, I had a regular burrito with Spanish rice, black beans, lettuce, pico, grilled corn, jalapenos, cheese, and their Izzo’s salsa. The jalapenos helped the taste this go round, but to me the ingredients just do not blend well with each other. I can’t say I won’t be back as my sister likes the food here, but hopefully I can find a better combination of veggie ingredients that’ll make a burrito sing next time.

First let me start by saying I wish I can give half stars, second I wish I could’ve checked in to get my Dukedom — but it’s all good. On to the grub — they are a solid 3.5 — they are not as good as El Famous at home, but they are good. I like all the options and I love the size of the Illegal Burrito — when I ordered mine — people were just standing there in awe(LOL) They were busy as heck, but I expected that — especially since Moe’s went out of business and people are stil not hip to Taco Del Mar over in Ridgeland. But I like it, it will do until we get an El Famous Burritos in Jackson. That is all, give’em a try — I’m pretty sure they will be busy for days!!!
