There are certain things that are mandatory with great Thai Food when you grow up in Los Angeles. It may sound menial however, the consistency and flavor of the peanut sauce(assuring it does not come from a can or a jar) and cucumber salad with red onion served with Chicken Sate is something you really miss. The other is the quality of rice noodle in the Pad Thai. Even if you don’t eat Pad Thai, this is a staple for Americanized Thai Food, quality here will reflect in the other dishes. Thai Ruby has become one of our favorite Thai Restaurants, we list whenever we are in Dallas. The Décor and atmosphere are intimate and warm, they set an excellent mood for Asian Cuisine. They do an excellent job preparing our favorite Thai Dishes. As a heads up: for some reason they moved to a BYOB Policy on Alcohol about 6 months ago. As of our last visit, this was still the case. We are not big Alcohol Drinkers, unless the food absolutely requires it. It may be some relief that we have, on several occasions, seen people run out for their favorite adult beverage and still return to the restaurant. If you love Thai food and are in the Flower Mound area of Dallas, we highly recommend Thai Ruby.

My family and I go to Thai Ruby all the time. This is our go-to Thai place! The pad Thai is great, but my absolute favorite is like mango sticky rice. If you are lucky you may even get some Thai custard on top! And it has such beautiful décor.

This is one of our favorite family owned Thai restaurants in the area. Because they don’t sell alcohol encourage you to BYOB, which we have done for years. We just had a great lunch there today(no wine) and noticed that they now charge a corkage fee of $ 3 for beer and $ 7 for wine. Their logic is that it is a service that has a cost so they charge for it. Next time we go out for Thai and want to BYOB we’ll be going to one of the other great BYOB family Thai places that are within just a few miles and don’t charge us to open and pour our wine or to provide clean wine glasses. Such a shame. It’s not about the dollars. It’s about how that policy change makes me feel.

Some friends and family ordered in from this place today. I was quite pumped but my excitement quickly subsided when I had a spoonful of the coconut soup. Just too rich in coconut milk, which suffocated the flavors of other ingredients. The veggie egg rolls were mediocre. Honestly, the concept of egg rolls in Thai food is new to me and I grew up in Thailand. The pad kee mao was decent – a little spiced but that’s all I can say. The green curry was better than expected given the wave of disappointments. The highlight was the pineapple rice, which I probably liked the most because it was my first time eating it so I had no previous notions. I could taste the pineapple but it wasn’t overwhelming and went well with the other vegetables. I just want the kind of arresting Thai food that makes me pause, close my eyes and be grateful to be alive but I haven’t found that yet in America. If anyone has had an out-of-body experience with Thai food anywhere in America, please leave a comment or message me!

Excellent improvement in what this restaurant used to be. Enjoyed starters of papaya salad, fried tofu, and fried squid. The papaya salad was the best out of the them. Our entrees were beef Pad Ke-Maow, green curry with shrimps, Hot Pepper Duck. The spice levels requested were 3,4, and true level 5 Thai which is the maximum level. The Pad Ke-Maow was the best followed closely by the other two. The Hot Pepper Duck was not on the menu but they made it anyway. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the décor is not stellar. However now I can see indoors in contrast to the time when I last ate here perhaps 2 – 3 years ago. That place was not worth considering so what an incredible transformation. Meghan was our server and she was super attentive tonight. By the way, we have visited Thailand so we know Thai food!

Apparently, they are not interested in new customers. We thought we would try this last night and we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order. We finally left and went to Fish City. They were more than happy to great and wait on us in a timely manner. I will stick to Baan Thai for my Thai food needs going forward.

Thai Ruby is a modest gem. Decked with novel reliefs and sculptures from Thailand, the low lights and quiet atmosphere are what you have come to expect from ethnic restaurants. My favorite dish is the Pad Kee Mao a.k.a Drunken Noodles. True story, I once requested spices at level two, and could barely eat the dish. The kitchen was forgiving and provided a new dish free of charge. From now on, I ask for the spices to apply on my own. Pro-tip: Feel welcome to bring your own bottle of wine.

Very unique atmosphere and decent food. Haven’t been disappointed with anything on the menu, but also haven’t found any favorite ‘go-to’ items.

I love their yellow curry… if I could get decent service. I had to walk out after sitting for 10 minutes and only receiving water because I actually wanted to eat lunch on my lunch break. They really need to have better processes in place because the food really is very good. You just have to have a lot of time.

Since I work in the area & I LOVE Thai food, I come here every so often. The past two times, I came in the evening — my food was wonderful and my service was great. Today, I came right after the lunch rush and the food was burnt & the service was«JUSTENOUGH.» The server, Nikki, did JUSTENOUGH to get by with my service. Because it was after the lunch rush, there weren’t as many people. She wasn’t friendly, didn’t smile, and when she’d come by my table to give me something, it was LITERALLY dropped on the table and she walked off. It just gave me the feeling that she had an attitude problem with me… and I don’t recall speaking to her in a rude manner at all. I observed her with other tables and she seemed nicer to them. I was dining by myself & I would think that when you’re by yourself, the servers try and be more attentive to you. At least that’s how it was when I worked at California Pizza Kitchen. When my food first came out, it wasn’t what I expected. I ordered a pad see ew, which is normally a bit sweeter than the other traditional Thai dishes. This one tasted burnt and bland. When I told the owner, Nikki comes up to the table(first time I saw her since my main dish came out) & I explain to the both of them that my food wasn’t very good and why. They were both nice enough to remake it for me, so that was very great. The second time, my food was perfect. It was the traditional Thai dish that I love. I think I’ll stick to coming in during the evenings next time I come here.

First time here and thoroughly enjoyed the food, very clean and fresh flavors. The sauces felt healthy and not over powering the dish. Soup and Egg roll were great. My 14 year old commented on how good everything was. Service was a little slow but the food and atmosphere made up for it. Very cozy authentic Thai set up. One suggestion is to put paper towels in the restrooms since the air dryer in there seems ancient and takes forever to dry your hands.

Absolutely love everything about this place! Food I’ve had so far has been amazing and fresh! Customer service is excellent! Very kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. The décor is very Asian Thai influenced and the beautiful pillows on all the seats are adorable! Been here three times so far and already looking forward to the next. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Yes, just yes! The best Thai food I have ever eaten! Nice atmosphere, amazing food, and nice a quiet(but not so much you have to whisper)! Not too expensive, and the chicken sauté appetizer is amazing! I highly recommend Thai Ruby to anyone who likes Thai food, and even if you don’t!

Wonderful and very authentic atmosphere for a Thai restaurant. Fist dish was the papaya salad, which was excellent and very fresh. The green chicken curry and pad Thai was the best I have had in a long time. Having a Thai wife, it is very hard to find a good authentic Thai experience, but Thai Ruby exceeded our expectations.

Love this place! Love the décor and especially the Amazing Peanut with Tofu. Expect crowds during the lunch hour — great value with their lunch menu. My favorite Thai place around!

Went to this place again, just to give another try. The service has improved, but the food quality has deteriorated. If I need tofu for the protein, please make sure that the quantify is comparable to someone choosing meat. Looks like the restaurant is controlling costs by reducing protein quantity. Also, no nutrition labeling. It is a big deal for me anyways. Spend some dough to have nutrition labeling done please.

The ambience is awesome to begin with. The service was great. The food was delicious! We tried the chicken pad Thai, egg rolls, babycorn with tofu and pad ki mauw and finished it off with some delicious coconut ice-cream. The food was great! Very authentic thai flavours. The coconut ice cream was a personal winner.

How did I miss this diamond in the rough?! This place had great atmosphere. Really cute, quiet, and quaint. Thai Décor is simple And very elegant. Real cloth napkins. Very classy and yet affordable. The waiter was extremely helpful I haven’t had Thai food often so I can’t compare very well but it was fresh and very delicious. The appetizer was quick and they had the cutest three jar spice rack but the main course took a little bit longer than expected. Maybe I was just hungry! The portions were perfect sizes. Not too large but not tiny either. This is a great place for a Date or even a family get together. I can’t say a single bad thing about my experience it was great.

If you’re in the Flower Mound area and you’re craving Thai food– this is your place. This is an Excellent Thai restaurant on 2499. The décor is Thai all the way with dark woods and red and gold tapestries and trim. Complete with Thai statues and artifacts, there is also what sounds like it could be the music of Thailand being played over the sound system. I find that this always makes a restaurant feel more authentic. I ordered the Thom Ka soup with tofu and the Chicken Pad Thai. I know– one of these days I’m going to branch out a little more, but when I crave Thai, this is what I am longing for. Just the traditional stuff done right. The Tom Ka soup was a sweet coconut base flavored with cilantro. It had huge chunks of Tofu, large mushrooms and a couple other subtle thai veggies. The Chicken in the Pad Thai was very tender, the noodles were al dente and the peanut flavor was not over done, being that it was not drowned in sauce. The service was great. My waiter was really nice and totally on top of it. One thing to mention is that I could not find their hours anywhere on Unilocal. So here they are: Mon-Thu 11:00 ~ 3:30 Lunch 4:30 ~ 9:30 Dinner Friday 11:00 ~ 3:30 Lunch 4:30 ~ 10:00 Dinner Saturday 11:00 ~ 10:00 Dinner Sunday CLOSED I was a little worried because it was 8:30pm on Tuesday night, I had worked late and was hoping they would be open. I will definitely be back. This is my go to Thai Restaurant in Flower Mound!
