Lee’s Alterations

i do not know the quality of her work but i will say i took a dress in to be shortened because it was 2 inches below my knee and she refused to do it. she said the length was perfect. it was not perfect to me and I am the customer. she was very rude. i guess they do not need the business.

After three visits to this establishment near Old Town Florissant I feel qualified to write a review. Ms. Lee’s Alterations is a stand-​alone building near Fritz’s and the Old Town Donut Shop. If you like quirky this is your place. Ms. Lee is almost continually on the phone chatting away in her native tongue. She has a brusque manner and tersely rebuffed my efforts to haggle.
As to her craftsmanship, I’ve had three pieces tailored. One was an old suit jacket, another was a pair of pants, and the last was a dress for my daughter-​in-​law. Since I know very little about sewing I asked my wife to evaluate the stitching. (You should understand that my wife once handmade matching shirts with a Bugs Bunny print for me and my son when he was small. These were not simple pieces but included collars and buttons, etc – so she knows the craft). Her evaluation was that Ms. Lee does excellent needlework. ‼
I really don’t have any comparisons as to price. I will say that Ms. Lee tends to be rather casual with time frames. Give her plenty of time and pad her estimate of when the work will be completed by a day or two.

My search for a quality alteration person continues. I’ll never come back to this spot. 2 ½ week turnaround for the incorrect hem. Asked for cuff with full break but got no cuff with half break.
When I pointed this out all of a sudden the worker no longer speaks English. Uggghhhh.
