Staff was very helpful, but laid back like others mentioned. My first time at the Oregon dunes, but I have ridden quads for quite some time in Florida. These guys were awesome, not trying to make money, just trying to show us a good time. The dunes blew me away and an hour was all we needed to experience the fun, although I could do it everyday. We came back a couple minutes late with no overtime charge. Highly recommended!

This place was a great time. The guy was super relaxed on the guidelines and all that safety stuff. But made it clear that you can just peg it the entire time otherwise you will kill yourself. The dunes were super fun, rolled it a couple times and had to pay for that. He didn’t explain that simply rolling it would be a fee, so he waived it which I thought was nice. Would definitely come back. I’m a novice rider so I can’t complain for getting a $ 25 charge for rolling the vehicle as this will obviously damage the vehicle over time. This place had better reviews that other spots so that’s why I chose it

Had an amazing time on the quads. I wish I had more money with me so I could ha e rode them longer. Only thing that sucked was sand got in my camera so I had to take pics on my phone. But it was still an amazing thing to do. Well worth the drive and gas spent to get there. That was the main highlight of my vacation. We rented 2 quads this past friday(July 25th). Had a blast. Planning my trip for next year. They might not have been brand new quads but they still ran great. We did get stuck, my boyfriend tried to help me get Un stuck n he got stuck on the hill side then tried helping himself n it tipped backwards. But he was ok and there was no damage to the quad.

Had read some mixed reviews on these guys, but mostly seemed okay so we gave them a try. Turned out everything was okay. The rental was smooth, the quad ran great, and they were very cool upon return. Safety talk at beginning was useful as the«snow blindness» effect out on the dunes was very real. With the sun overhead it was hard to make out the contours of the dunes and was easy to drive over the edge of a steep drop off if you didn’t pay attention. I have 55-year old eyes so that may have played a part but my 46-year old pal was equally affected. That said, the experience is definitely not for everybody. You are out on these massive dunes with no guide and no map and it demands concentration and some degree of fitness. I could see how some people might quickly be in over their heads. If in doubt, take a guided tour first and see what the dunes are about before trying this. Better to know what it’s like out there before you go on your own. We were careful and still got stuck in the deep sand on a couple uphill climbs. Nothing serious but it was good there were two of us. If you pay attention, go at a comfortable and sensible speed for your skill level, you shouldn’t have any problems with the machine or the company. All in all a good experience and I’d go again with these folks.

Summary: Tough call on the number of stars for this company. The activity of ATVing on sand dunes was amazing and scary, but the company isn’t the best. I knocked my ATV over on to its side and was charged $ 185 for bending the steering column. ATVing on sand dunes: I’ve been on ATV tours in Costa Rica and Hawaii and this was nothing like that. This is a completely unguided, unsupervised ATV experience on large sand dunes. I’m a 26 year old guy and down for pretty much anything but this is a crazy activity. Ridges and huge drop offs appear out of nowhere cause of the way the sand blows and forms. Tracks get covered up quickly by the sand. It’s pretty easy to get stuck in the sand going uphill if you don’t have enough momentum. You need to go slow and get used to it for a while. The ATVs are super unstable on the sand and it’s really easy to roll them over. You can pay per hour($ 50/hr). I would definitely say that one hour is enough. You can always get another hour if you want; you don’t save any money by pre-paying for 2 hours. I thought I was being pretty safe and going fairly slow, but I still knocked the ATV over and got charged a lot. Company: They rush you through the extensive paperwork and an audio safety instruction(couldn’t at least have a video?). They don’t ask you whether you have any ATV experience and then one guy takes you out to the dunes which are about a 5 minute ATV ride away. The guy points out the boundaries(very large boundaries) and then immediately heads back to the place for you to fend for yourself. I’ll be honest, this is kind of what I was looking for compared to the over-supervised, rule-heavy other ATV tours I’ve done. But if you don’t have much experience, this is pretty intense. They bring people out in no particular set intervals, just whenever ATVs are returned and people are ready to go. Price: It costs $ 50/hour with a $ 200 deposit. The $ 50 is definitely reasonable. For the deposit, they take a carbon copy of your credit card but don’t charge you. It’s up to you to get back on time. They supposedly charge $ 2/min overage charges, but they don’t seem to be too on top of the return times since people are going out and coming back at all different times. Extra charges: There are signs saying that you’ll be charged $ 15-$ 250 for knocking the ATV over, rolling it, flipping it, etc. Mine fell over on its side after I made a turn at a not very fast speed. I landed on my feet and picked it right back up. Just from this pretty light-seeming fall, the steering column was bent(so the handle bars were kind of facing to the right while the wheels were straight). I figured this would be like a bicycle where you could just hold the wheels in place and turn the handle bars back into place. Apparently this isn’t the case. I was charged $ 185. The guy said the steering column cost $ 150 and a half hour of labor was $ 35. He said he was giving me a deal on the labor and that it should actually be an hour and half. Now I have no clue whether this is a fair price or not, but I did bend the steering column and that’s the price he told me so I had no choice the matter. Briefly looking up ATV steering columns online, it seems like they really only cost about $ 50 or less. I really don’t know what parts need to be replaced though so it’s a tough call.

I had a great time here! My boyfriend and I each rented a quad to explore the sand dunes with. When you first get there, you need to turn into Sand Dunes Frontier and then go up the hill on the left — I believe this is a completely separate company. You will choose what you want to do — renting one quad is $ 45/hour. There is a cycle option that is cheaper and a two-seater car type vehicle that is more expensive. They will run a $ 200 authorization through your credit card just in case you damage the vehicle, but give the charge slip back to you if you don’t damage the vehicles. When you get there you pick out helmet and goggles and then sit through a short safety presentation. Then you’re off! An employee will show you out to the dunes, show you the boundaries, and you’re off. I would recommend wearing long sleeves and pants because the wind gusts like no other. Their dunes are large, hilly and so cool! Riding on an ATV is fun! It is not something I had ever wanted to do but I am so glad I did it. Oh man, if you come to sand dunes this is a must do.(But, if you’re not that into it you can also sign up for a tour in a bigger sand vehicle with other companies) Overall, this company and experience was great. The employees are friendly and very laidback. This experience does not come without risks, though. I can completely understand how this five star review could have become a one star review pretty quick if I were to have damaged the vehicle or myself in any way — they make it pretty clear that you are responsible for all damages incurred(= expensive!!). After a while all of the sand looks the same, and it is easy to miss a drop off or not see a bump and then get knocked around. I came out of it with a few bruises, and can definitely see how easy it would be to roll an ATV if you’re not careful. But, that didn’t happen to me. And it was FUN and an experience of a lifetime. I am so glad my boyfriend talked me into doing this!

very pleased with torex. We read the old reviews and were hesitant, but hotel said they have not heard anything bad about the place. staff was friendly and helpful. They took their time with any questions we had. Enjoyed the experience, a must try. We had no problems with them trying to over charge. I would expect to pay if we had wrecked but if you are moderately careful there should be no problems.
