Beautiful, well groomed garden. A great place to bring kids with a free carousel. Plenty of greenery and settings to take pictures. Free for all and plenty of parking– if you are in the area definitely stop by!

Although the Garden is a bit of a drive, its a great place to check out! If you have kids there’s a free carousel there too, which the kids can ride as much as they want with little to no waiting :) Plus the children’s garden was a lot of fun for them and relaxing for you! Pack a lunch and take a walk along one of the beautifully shaded trails, look for toads by the ponds or sneak a few mulberries from the tree! It’s a great time for all!

If you are looking for a beautiful place to take a walk and look at some beautiful flowers and scenery then take a drive out to Birmingham, Ohio and visit the Schoepfle Garden. The Schoepfle Garden contains 70 acres of botanical gardens and natural woodland bordered on one side by the Vermilion River. Visit one of the following areas while you are there: 1. The Formal Garden– The formal garden has a wide central path lined in part with hedges and topiaries. Side paths wind through beautiful flowers and trees that are in bloom from late spring through fall. 2. The Shade Garden– Draped in Pines and covered in ferns and mosses, the shade garden is a great place to cool off in the heat of the summer. Find a place to sit and read a good book while enjoying nature! 3. Woods and River Bank– Enjoy a stroll on one of the paved paths or take an easy hike through the woods down to the banks of the Vermilion River. It can get muddy so I’d take along a pair of old shoes or boots. My favorite time of the year to hike by the river is mid October. The reflections of the colorful trees onto the river below are outstanding! 4. The Children’s Garden– The Children’s Garden was a true community project as local landscapers constructed each unique garden, local artists restored carousel horses, and local businesses and citizens donated to this amazing project. Each unique piece of the garden blends nature and music to create an enchanting garden for children to learn and play in. Children, young and old, can climb the Rocky«G» Clef, crawl through the Flute-A-Pillar, and ride the restored carousel(From the Lorain County Metroparks Website). Ifr you are looking for a nice place to take a walk or are a photographer interested in floral/nature photography I highly recommend a trip to Schoepfle Garden!

This is a lovely botanical garden that’s a fun and relaxing place to walk around in the spring or on a hot summer day. No pets. My favorite parts are the daylily trail, the front pond, the topiaries and the shade garden. It’s free and open during daylight hours.
