Dare I say the best food option in Florence? Okay, maybe I exaggerate. Their fresh baked french bread and large selection of cheeses(highly recommend Face Rock Aged Cheddar) were life savers. The only thing I can dock a star for is that they weren’t making sandwiches after 8pm. But then I wouldn’t have tried that french bread, which is just the best.

My mom and I stopped here for gas on Easter weekend. We experienced some trouble with her car. The gas attendants were extremely helpful and kind. They went above and beyond to help us. I was touched by their kindness. I gave the young man a small tip, thinking he would expect it, but from his reaction I don’t think he did. The car trouble wasn’t fun but the service and kindness was grand. We made it home safely. I will definitely stop here again and recommend it to others.

Not a big fan of Safeway. They service a lot of smaller towns along the Oregon coast where other chains don’t so I give them props for trying however I find them to be overpriced and stores disjointed. This location has the added negative of being too small for the community of Florence as it is nearly always busy and way too crowded.

This is about the Starbucks in the Safeway. I was very happy to get my latte. The line was long and moved slow; however, I got my latte and the barista was very nice. He problem raised when e Starbucks app stats that there is a wifi hotspot. Liar — Liar Pants on Fire!!!

Rude & not at all helpful. I find most Safeway stores to have a much higher standard. I visited Safeway in Florence while vacationing. I’m partially disabled. I can get by without a cart for assistance, but I’ll be in a lot of pain. I find it difficult to concentrate on shopping when there are no handicapped carts available. This day, i had ‘overdone it’ and really needed a lift. I tried all three carts(all they have available in this store) they were all discharged. Not only were they dead, but they were all soaking wet from being stored outside. I went into the customer service area to ask for help, & was left standing without help or acknowledgement for 13 minutes. When I asked for help, I was treated rudely. The customer service manager, Jeannie, on duty was quite put out that I asked for help. Someone eventually flagged down a cashier’s assistant who wandered around for 6 more minutes, returning to say«all our carts are dead.» He then turned and walked away. I was literally in tears(from pain). I finally left, I then went to Freddie’s, where I found 8 carts s charged and ready to go. I will not be back to this Safeway.

Outside the store, great prices at the gas pump, about 30 cents cheaper than other coastal towns and about 10 to 15 cents under other stations in same town. Filler ‘er up! Inside, the store features a Starbucks, a bank, service deli, service bakery, and full pharmacy. Seems newly remodeled and very clean, all with Safeway deals. I’d compare this with Vons’ Pavilions high-end grocery store, which chain is owned by Safeway.

Its a grocery store. But the clerk when we asked him for change and he didn’t have it he didn’t bother to call for more. Isn’t he gonna need it eventually?! What a tool!

Visiting this Safeway is like going to a high school reunion without the pomp and circumstance. There in the produce department? That’s the she-bully who used to get pissed and threaten to beat up other girls. Making the delicious breakfast sandwiches? That’s the girl I’m friends with on facebook but never once spoke to during our three years wandering the halls of Siuslaw High. I don’t know her, but I know she has a couple kids and overshares in her status updates. Yep, this grocery store is a great place to make eye contact and awkwardly break away. Or, if one is really looking for a good time, ask what people have been doing over the past five years. Still drinking up the North Fork? Still rolling pickup trucks? Some things never change.

Pretty much everyone I have encountered here are genuinely nice. They always ask if you need help and mean it. I can’t remember the last time I went in to a Safeway and had 3 different people ask me. So sweet! The butcher is knowledgeable and enlightened us with some of his antedotes and cracked some jokes with us. The cashier even tried to pronounce our last names, but butchered it a little. Hey! He deserves some credit. AND he remembered us when we came back the next day and pronounced it correctly the second time! Impressive! When we were there this past weekend, they were having an awesome wine sale! Most wines were 30% off AND if you bought 6 wines, you got an extra 10% off. SCORE! To top it all off, we’re in Oregon so that means NOTAX. Wooooooohooooooooo!
