I have to agree with a lot of what I’ve read here. The place is a waste. Used to be that folks from philly would come up the river in the summer to get away from the urban heat. Florence was actually a getaway! The Parker house, as it was known, was a hotel of sorts and had the bar for weary travelers. Now it’s just a shadow if it’s former self. I couldn’t get a simple vodka martini. Just vodka for heaven’s sake! They didn’t even have proper glassware to make one! If you are up for a shot and a beer, that’s about all they can manage. It’s sad to see such a promising location wasted on such a dive bar. It could be so much better!

I went with some friends last week to see a band. It’s a small old bar in the middle of a bunch of row homes. The band was stuck up in a small room in the back of the bar where you couldn’t see them very well. The bar menu was very small consisting of a couple types of fries, a bar pizza, cheese burger and chicken fingers w/fries. I ordered the chicken fingers, usually pretty hard to screw up. Wrong! The chicken fingers were very small and burnt, the fries were lukewarm and soggy. Sadly the drinking experience wasn’t any better. The bartenders didn’t know how to mix basic drinks. A female customer next to me asked for a cosmo. The bartender said they didn’t make those kind of drinks, only things like rum and cokes or shots of one of the flavored vodkas on the shelf behind her. A lazy and untrained bartender like that is never a good sign. We started w/a couple beers and wicked ales. After a bit, we ordered a round of shooters. We starting with three kamikazes(which is a cosmo minus the cranberry juice, something the bartender didn’t know). The bartender poured them into three small ¾ oz shot glasses, not the martini or cocktail glasses they should have been in. The kamikazes were lousy and tasted like pure Roses lime juice. A little later we dared to order another round of shooters. The bartender rinsed out our shot glasses right in front of us and reused them while they were still dripping sudsy water. The second round was as bad as the first. After being shorted on two rounds of poorly made drinks, we stopped trying to order mixed drinks and stayed with bottled beer. This was the worst bar experience I’ve ever had and won’t return.

Decent place but a but off the beaten path. In a residential neighborhood w row homes all around. Olivia was a good bartender and quick with the drinks. We went last night(saturday) about 11 pm. We were the only ones sitting at the bar. About 6people playing pool. Didn’t get a chance to taste the food kitchen was closed so we had a few and moved on. Bar was about ¼ full when we left around 12. Wouldn’t make a separate trip just to go here but may stop back.
