Julia Belle’s Restaurant

We’ve been to Julia Belle’s several times and we’ve always enjoyed. Ordered a couple of blue plate specials tonight and baked chicken and pork chop did not disappoint. Plenty of sides to choose from is a plus. To sum up, if passing through Florence, SC I’d recommend this place. Southern comfort food with above average preparation. Call ahead to confirm dinner times.

Not far from i95 at what we typically find to be the cheapest gas exit on our frequent trips between nc & florida. The building doesn’t look like much, but the food is amazing and the staff and owner were very friendly. I had the crab cake which was probably the best I’ve ever had. My husband has the chicken pastry which was also very good. They were very accomidating to the foid choices of our picky prescjooler. Save room for dessert! The white Russian pecan pie and fried fruit pie did not disappoint.
We look forward to going back again!

This place is awesome. Great menu, super friendly staff, clean atmosphere and good prices. I would absolutely eat here again. I got the BBQ egg rolls and shrimp and grits. Both were delish!

Will definitely be sure to time it for lunch or Thursday and Friday nights for dinner. We had chicken salad sandwich with homemade chips and fried shrimp (dozen large fried to perfection) with slaw and sides of fried green tomatoes and cabbage. All were delicious. You order at counter, food served to you at table. Friendly staff and amazingly delicious food.

We called to see if I, as a vegan, could get a meal and they were very accommodating even changing the buttermilk in the fried green tomato breading for me. All 3 of us in our party had too much to eat and everything was made to order and delicious. The staff and owner are very friendly. The reason for 4 stars was the extremely difficult exit from the parking lot. There aren’t lights in the lot and the exit is not clearly marked causing a great deal of confusion in getting back to the highway. Anyhow GO eat there for very fresh local food the is delicious and well priced.

Julia Belle’s is an all around excellent example of southern hospitality. All of the food was delicious and we were greeted and checked in on frequently throughout our meal by the owners. The shrimp and grits, roasted cabbage, and white russian pecan pie were the standouts of the meal, but everything we had was delicious. It’s clear they take great care in ensuring the quality of all aspects of their restaurant: food, atmosphere, cleanliness, and hospitality. Eating there felt like sharing a meal with family and old friends, even though we didn’t know anyone else there! We’ll definitely be back the next time we drive through South Carolina.
p. s. — If you like cabbage you MUST get theirs. It is smokey and perfectly roasted. The cabbage enthusiast of our group said it was quite possibly the best cabbage he’s ever had.

Best shrimp and grits around. Burgers and Beaufort stew are great too. White Russian pecan pie is bucket list worthy.

Hidden Gem in Florence! Just finished lunch and I can’t tell you how delicious everything was. Outside seating is in an old horse barn, love it. Inside seating available as well. My husband had a turkey sandwich that was the special that was perfect. Oven baked chicken special was delicious and cooked to perfection. This place is a must try, you won’t be disappointed. Also, the owner came out to greet us, which was the icing on the cake! Southern Home Cooking at its finest!

The only thing that would have made this a better experience is real plates and utensils instead of paper plates and plastic forks and knives. The food was great. Service outstanding and very friendly.

Great little find! Hubbie had a hamburger and said it was delicious. I had the fried pork chop sandwich. Homemade buns were delicious!!!

I had some friends come in town from the north and they wanted some good food that was local and they couldn’t get at home. This was a great choice! Great traditional «southern» food, cool ‘atmosphere’ and great owners — we couldn’t have asked for anything more. We had 1) The shrimp and grits, 2) the pot roast and 3) the chicken pastry and everyone was in awe of how good the food was. My husband immediately called someone to let them know they need to try it ASAP!

We were passing through Florence for gas and lunch after a week in Charleston. We had a streak of non chain restaurants going, so trusting Unilocal reviews we found Julia Belle’s and gave it a try. We were there Saturday, early for lunch, maybe 11:45 and there were just a couple people already there. I had the blue plate special pulled pork, hubby had a cheeseburger after seeing the picture on the menu. Kids had corn dogs. There were tons of sides to choose from and everything looked good. The pork was delicious. After 10 years outside Raleigh, I’ve gotten picky about pork, and this was good. Tender and flavorful with a really good sauce– not just vinegar and pepper dressed, kind of mustardy– bbq. Nice little place with friendly people. I’d be happy to go out of my way to stop in again if we were out that way.

My husband and I were driving from nyc to Orlando, and happened to see the sign for the Pee Dee farmers market. While there we noticed Julia Belle’s restaurant had lots of cars in the lot. We took a chance, and it was one of those moments that make a road trip worthwhile. I had the chicken in pastry. OMG delicious and hubby had the fried pork chops with slaw and beans. Great food. Family owned and run. We had a nice chat with the owners, even though they were quiet busy.
By the way. We didn’t have it, but the strawberry shortcake looked amazing!

Got lost trying to find Fats. Saw this place. Great food. Owner introduced herself. Clean. Food excellent. Will be back.
