Breakfast was so good! The private deck was wonderful for drinking tea. The room décor was a bit dated but it was comfortable. Overall we had a lovely experience.

We stayed at Blue Heron Inn over Memorial Day weekend and would highly recommend it for travelers to the Florence area. Both Maurice and Stella made us feel so much at home, offering access to an entertainment library, multiple treats from the kitchen at all hours, and advice on local oddities we would have missed otherwise. Although the décor is a bit dated, everything was immaculate and all the comforts of home are provided, including ample closet space, terry robes, and(in our case) an adorable deck on the garden just outside our room where we enjoyed a glass of wine(also provided) amid birdsong and spring blooms. Contrary to another guest’s review, we LOVED the coffee – and the breakfast was outstanding with mounds of fresh fruit piled on crisp Belgian waffles. They even inquired in advance about food allergies and worked around them so all the guests at the full table had a delicious meal. We only wish we had had a little more time to chat with Maurice and Stella during our stay, as they were the kind of bright, warm people you want to get to know better. Hopefully, we’ll get another chance someday!

I’m no expert on the b&b experience, but our garrulous host Maurice made us feel most welcome here. With reasonable rates, a generous breakfast, and clean and comfortable rooms, it was a welcome break from camping for us. I didn’t give it a five star because the coffee was sock juice and there were a few slightly tattered edges(visitor information scrapbooks were looking a bit worn and unappealing and we were scared to use the jacuzzi tub in our room because of the leaking caulk)
