Americas Best Value Inn

My first time here was because of vehicle trouble. Thanks to the desk clerk for helping me find a mechanic willing to work on Sunday. This, my second stay, is because I wanted to be here. The rooms both times were nice and the swimming pool is a great bonus after a hot day on the road.

On 1÷26÷14, my truck driver was broken down and forced to get a room at this place as it was closest. He took a cab, checked in, walked to get a bite to eat and returned a couple of hours later to walk in to the room for the first time. It was filthy, with live roaches scattering all over the microwave, minifridge, and throughout the bathroom. He called the front desk and told the clerk he wanted to check out immediately and asked him to come take a look at the roaches and the filth. Even though the room was only a couple of doors away from the desk, the clerk refused, saying he just sprayed a week ago (and said ‘all hotels around here have this problem’). My driver asked for a refund, but the clerk said he could not, saying because he checked in over 2 hours ago, he knew the owners would not issue a credit. The room was obviously not used as the bed and toiletries, etc were not disturbed. When asked to speak to the «owners», the clerk would not try to call them because he said they «are in Florida and very difficult to reach». My driver had to pay for another cab ride to a Hampton Inn, which did NOT have any roaches. I called and spoke to this clerk on 01÷26÷14. He was rude, unprofessional and said «I already told your driver check in was over 2 hours before the check out and there will be no refund». I asked for the owners contact information, and the clerk said all he can do is forward my request for a refund to them. I also called again 01÷28÷14 and left a message for the manager or owner. To this day, I have never received a call back from any manager or owner. Once I received my credit card statement indicating the hotel charges applied, I called to dispute them. Chase card contacted a manager named Nina who said she would «look into it». She has not called me back, nor has she answered my calls. My advice is: Do not even consider staying here unless: a. you love roaches b. you don’t mind filth (and I mean filth) c. it is the zombie apocalypse and roaches are the least of your worries.
