I had been wanting to try Sodie’s for a long time, and I finally got the chance today. My brother and I went for lunch at about 12:45PM. The restaurant-soda fountain-pharmacy is located in an old railroad depot. It is very attractive and filled with antiques and memorabilia. I had high hopes upon being seated in the old tyme dining room. We were seated immediately, and the same person took our drink orders. After that, service became confused and very less than prompt. A second person appeared to take our orders, and then a third person appeared a few minutes later to take our order, after we’d already given it to the second person. There is a very extensive railroad-themed menu with breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, as well as numerous appetizers and deserts, not to mention items from the soda fountain. I selected the«Santa Fe», which was basically nachos supreme. My brother chose a burrito supreme. I must say that our orders were delivered in a short time, and both our meals were very tasty. However, the drink glasses were empty even before the food arrived, and they were never refilled even once. Once the food was served, the waitress never returned once to check on us or to even deliver the bill. We finally just left the table and walked to the check-out counter. The person at the checkout counter commented«wow, you guys sure ate fast, I guess you don’t want desert.» Well, Miss, get a clue! We might well have ordered desert or something from the soda fountain had we received even a minimal amount of service at the table. But since there was NONE, then we certainly weren’t going to order anything else. So in conclusion, the atmosphere and the food were quite good, but the horrendous service completely spoiled the meal. We will not be returning to Sodie’s. There are many other restaurants that will take care of their customers much better than the wait staff at Sodie’s.
