This was my third year running this race and it always astounds me the amount of people that get involved in it. Absolutely fantastic! In my head I always make the hills out to be these monstrous things that you need to scale at a ridiculous degree but after I run them I’m like«meh, they weren’t that bad!» The humidity that always seems to be around that day is a different story… now that’s a bitch! I loved seeing everyday folk in their yards cheering, playing their drums they dragged up from their basement, the frat boys offering beer, Champagne Corner, the random jello shot being shoved in my face, the marching bands, husband-wife karaōke at its best, I could go on. I will run this race every year from now on. It is just so uplifting, words can’t describe. Flint you rock!

I don’t actually run, I just sit in the beer tent and listen to the bands.

As an avid runner, I run at least a race a month throughout the year. The Crim tops them all. The organization of the 10 mile race is spectacular. Ample(free) parking close to the start line, visible mileage markers with clocks, drink stations on both sides of the street nearly every half mile, waved start for fast and slow runners(and walkers) and medals awarded to all participants at the end. The residents of all the neighborhoods ventured through came out to watch. Some held signs, passed out donuts and pancakes and samples of beer. Many bands, D.J.‘s and lonely drummers on their porch played tunes to entertain the runners. The after party included a rockin’ band, a free slice of pizza and beer for all runners. Additional pizza slices were $ 1 and beers were $ 3. If you are a walker or runner, you must give the Crim a try! You will not be disappointed.
